We have two big 6-4 & 6-5 receivers on the cusp of the team. Turner is the taller one and has had more experience on the team, but he often shows poor work effort and route running skills. Wallace is an inch shorter with less football experience but even with his lack of experience he has managed to get praise from soprano and make some plays in the preseason. Im not sure but I don't think we can practice squad turner anymore but we can ps Wallace.

If i had a choice between the two i wold pick Wallace. I think he has more drive for the game and more upside, although he is still a project. Either one we pick would be a project. If Wallace even gets picked because Moore has looked good and has made bigger plays than both Tuner and Wallace .I don't think that our FO wants to let go of Turner, because they have put too much time into developing him, but a lesson learned from Camarillo is that no WR is safe, besides Marshall. Also just a bit of trivia, Wallace(24) is actually a year older than Turner(23).:confused1:

With the 53 man 4 days away, which big guy would you rather have playing for the phins and who do you think has more big play potential?(even though neither of these guys are guaranteed a spot)

Turner. He's got a draft pick invested in him, and I don't think he's heading
anywhere. As far as Cam goes; We turned him over for a pretty killer
profit, all told and it didn't really hurt us as there was a logjam of Wrs that
did essentially the same thing on the team.

Although, Turner could wind up on the PS.

Wallace. He has more upside. The draft pick spent on Turner should be a non-factor.

I don't know if he'd be considered so much a bust as Wallace and Moore are just better. And both of those guys can play special teams in some capacity.

Turner may be good, just maybe not good enough here.

That's exactly what I was going to say. It just better business to keep the better player.

Exactly, I don't know why people get so fascinated with where a player was drafted, once out on the field if they are constantly outperformed by their competition why would keep them? Cuz we wasted a draft pick on them? I really don't understand the logic, especially when you consider the number of drafted players that never amount to anything. We've drafted many busts, its best to keep the best players and let the others move along and never look back. Football is a business, and if you want to stay in business you have to win, which requires keeping the best players regardless of where they were drafted.

Not just that, but it's better business monetarily also. It would be bad enough to keep a 3rd round pick over a FA who was clearly better, but even worse if you're paying more for doing so.

Special teams could really be the deciding factor here, because without that edge I think Wallace is probably still raw enough to be able to sneak onto a practice squad.

Although I agree with keeping and playing the better player, I think the issue with putting Patrick Turner on the PS is that Turner (although he hasn't done anything in the NFL) is more well known around the league than an UFA like Wallace or Moore.

The coaches might feel like both players have good potential to play on offense or at least be good special teams contributors, but they can probably get away with stashing someone like Marlon Moore or Roberto Wallace on the PS as opposed to someone like Patrick Turner. Just my 2cents.

For the record, I really like what I've seen out of Moore so far this pre-season. I think he can possibly help us with our lackluster return game or at least develop into a decent flyer/gunner.

Kid has never played special teams in his life. He is not a returner either.
I do think he made the team because he has been impressive as a receiver. Wallace is the safe eligible practice squad guy and Turner makes the team as the 5. I will be truly surprised if it goes differently.

The idea that Turner could of been overlooked, or simply passed over, is plausible on any other team other than ours. As hell bent as we are on playing our rookies, and finding talent under any and every rock, suggests not much gets overlooked on this team, but rather the kid just wasn't ready for the big leagues. To now, after a season with the playbook, and development with team staff, see this kid still struggling to cut the mustard, with questionable route running of all things, tells me its motivational issues, and frankly, aside from him being drafted here, is a surprise to me he still is.
