Is it the never-ending candle which burned so brightly in perfection 38 years ago? That's an awful long time to keep a fire burning.

Is it the Marino majic which hypnotized the NFL for many a year? Yet, he brought us to a Super Bowl as often as David Woodley (RIP), and there has been many a moon since his majic was gone.

Is it JT and ZT? Great players but also gone.

Is it days gone by for Flipper fans?, team colors?, Logo?, or The Best and Sexiest cheerleaders in the NFL.

Living in South Beach, and reading forums, I see Dolphans from all ofer this country, as well as many from different countries.

On top of the locals, how the hell did this happen? DAMN, there are even some from NY and NE. LOL

Thoughts, and stories, as to how this happened, and is still happening?

Not quite as hot as a Dolphin cheerleader, but okay. Winning is fun too.

Lived in South Florida....grew up pretending to be Dan Marino when we would play football at the park....used to collect all the charcoal pictures of the Phins that were given away at the Shell stations way...way back. Around the time when I would get a Kiss (the band)Cup filled with a slurpee at Magic Market (are they still around?)

Its been a sickness for a long, long time....:)

When I was 6, my parents bought me a Miami dolphin trash can....Im not sure I even knew what football was , but I sure did like the team logo for some reason......I started to loosely watch football and rooted for miami based on that logo. I owe most of my phandomment to Dan Marino, for being Dan....and Imeister for that cheerleader pic he just posted.......

Loyalty is something very special, in any walk of life. I remember watching Cam avoid negative perfection. Some friends said that I was acting like we won the Super Bowl.

For me, winning that last game, on an 0-15 team was my Super Bowl.:)

I don't have a clue. Over the last couple years, I've become more of a football fan in general than only the Dolphins but they are still my favorite.

You are completely misremembering. We weren't 0-15 heading into that game, nor would we have been 0-15 had we lost to the Ravens. The Ravens game was the 14th of the season. We still would have had 2 games to avoid going 0-16.

I caught that Miami Dolphins disease from Dan Marino. Although I never met him, I caught it thru the TV. I have the disease and I refuse to be cured from it:up:

I was in the hospital around 1971, when I was five years old. Someone gave me an aqua colored toy stuffed rabbit so that was the color I liked and the Phins became my team. Good thing I didn't get a green colored toy and ended up a Jet's fan. I also got some Miami Dolphin's football cards so they became my team. Been with them through the good and bad for almost 40 years.

1978, I was 5 years old, and would go to my grandfather's house on weekends. He would always watch the Phins games. I would watch them with him, and never missed a game. Even after I stopped going to their house on weekends, I still watched my Phins, and still have never missed a game.

I was born, raised, and lived in Rhode Island for 30 years surrounded by Pats fans. I became a Dolphins fan at such a young age I didn't even know what football really was.

My parents were divorced, it was 1983, and it was my weekend with my Dad. He was watching the Pats/Phins and all I wanted was for him to stop watching and come outside and play. He kept telling me he would when the game was over; so in spite I started rooting for the Phins.

    I never looked back...

I moved here. It was a ***** to be a Jets fan in the mid 70s. I mean, they were playing Rich Sowells at safety and they got rid of John Riggins, for crying out loud. And that was just the beginning of the collapse. It made no sense to remain a Jets fan when I lived about two miles from the Orange Bowl, and unlike in New York, I could always get tickets. A few games in the OB and I had defected; the Fins and their fan base were easy to love.

I was born in Miami, was around when the team was formed, attended the very first game ever played, attended all games for many years, enjoyed the Super Bowl years, and have always been unwavering in my Phinfandom. Now I can enjoy watching them every week on DirecTV, and attend the occasional game when we can get to S Fla.

This site just fuels my love of all things Dolphin that much more. Thanks to all that contribute.

I had developed a pretty stout allegiance prior to the 82 “Epic in Miami”, but that meltdown against the Chargers changed things. Something snapped, maybe like Moses when he returned from Mt Sinai.

I went from stout, to devout after that one.

Wow, so many great stories. Mine seems a little boring, although there can't be boring stories regarding the Dolphins. :wink2:

It was in 2004/2005, when I was 12 or 13. I got Madden 2005 as an x-mas present, because my dad and me had followed our local football team in Germany for several years. I started playing after I understood how to do that. First I had to choose my favorite team, as in every Madden. There was a team called Lions, which was great, because our local team is also called Lions, but I don't think I played a game with Detroit. Then I saw a team called Dolphins, and because I loved Miami as a city I started playing with them and they became my team. I really started following the Fins in 2008, though. Much too late!

I think that's how it went, can't remember exactly! :pointlol:

Great story Speedy, and there have been many. The "Out Of Towner" stuff is special to read.

Being in Miami is easy to be a Phins Phan. You other guys have your work cut out for you.

You don't get to see all the games, and are sometimes in hostile territory. That is special.

Are there many Dolphans with you?

Thanks! :) Actually I'm the only Fins fan. Our friends we are watching our local team with just follow the NFL in general. At the stadium I've seen some Fins fans though. There's one guy with a cap and a Ricky jersey and I've also seen a Culpepper jersey. I see fans of other teams, too. If I see a Jets fan, I'll point at him and laugh! :tongue2: The best thing is, I've told my mom she must not say "NY Jets" at any time!
