Looks like TJ Houshmandzedeh is gettin cut... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5529209 What do you guys think? He was GREAT next to Ochocinco, imagine what he'd do next to Marshall.
normally i say no to this stuff, but he'd make a whole lot of sense here, especially since he'd likely be willing to sign a cheap contract.
He's 32. Do we really want to impede the progress of Hartline and Bess (possible veteran mentoring notwithstanding)?
I bet the Patriots sign him. Besides TJ will go to a team that is a contender. We are not a contender.
I'm not usually a fan of this sort of thing either, but if we don't grab him, you can bet the Jets or Pats will.
I hate saying this about such a young player, but Bess has already reached his peak. And with Marshall around, Bess will see less and less passes as the years go by. Unless Bess miraculously starts making people miss or somehow gains that extra gear he's never had, last season will end up being the best of his career. He can still be a very intricate part of this team, but only as the third option. I want to see more from Hartline as well, but Housh would be an upgrade over him. We can't deny a chance to make the team better just because we want to see someone develop.
You may be right, but it's the same stuff that was said about Camarillo last year. Do we just get rid of guys like that then?
I don't go in for these "what about this guy" things either, but TJ still has some in the tank. Over 900 yards receiving for each of the last 2 years, Nearly 80 catches last year and over 90 the year before that and I think 3 TD's each year. It is awfully tempting to roll the dice with him, but I think we should stay with the youth movement here. Then again, Houshmazilla - Championship!
Cam and Bess were put in a very uncomfortable situation. They both offered the exact same thing. Consistent but lacking big plays. EVERY team needs a Greg Camarillo or Davone Bess, you just don't need two of them. I;m glad im not the guy who had to decide between the two of them. That couldn't have been an easy call. I'm positive we will stick with Hartline and I'm hoping for a big year from him as far as a sleeper goes. He has the potential to really make some big plays. But Housh is definitely something to consider if the price was right.
A decision between Brian Hartline and TJ Houshmandzadeh isn't really a decision at all. Do you guys really want to pass on a proven 80-catch, 900-yard WR because we have Brian Hartline? Really? I get the whole impeding progress thing, but if you can make your team better and get them one step closer to being a legit contender you do it.
Agreed. you just know they'll get their grubby paws on Housh. Personally, I think this move considers at least lookin into. Gives Henne another solid target, and improves the offense that much more. Not to mention it may piss off the pats and jets
I would absolutely give him a shot here. I've watched about half a dozen passes bounce off Hartline's hands this preseason. I don't think he's prepared to be a number 2. He looks more like a number 4. Bess is excellent, but is best suited to the slot against linebackers and nickel corners, where he can actually take over a game.
There's no way in hell you don't bring him in if you have the chance. He's a proven guy that has a resume you wish Bess and Hartline will have one day. He'd be a fantastic fit even if it was just for one year.
With what that he'll get signed by the Pats or that were a Contender? If you think were a contender I advise you to stop drinking the kool-aid.
at 15 mill a yr he better have more than 900 yards recieving and 1 and a half touchdown a yr.he may sign cheap this yr because seattle will still have to pay him a majority of this yrs pay.then next yr he sits and wines that he wants a new contract for an amount that we are unwilling to pay him.no thanks..we can get that same production for alot cheaper and they are already on the team.
We've seen everything he's going to give us. He's incapable of making the big, quick striking plays we need. He's never going to get the opportunity to catch 76 balls in this offense again with us most likely targeting Marshall most of the time. So yes, he has. Last year will be the best season of Bess' career. His production can only decline, thus he's peaked. Bess can be and for the foreseeable future, still is, a very important part of this offense. But someday, maybe next season or the year after, we're going to (hopefully) get a guy like Bess who can also get behind defenses as well.
he wants to be "the guy" he cried like a ***** last year when hasslebeck didnt get him the ball. no way hes gunna play second fiddle with marshall......and a run first team.
