if he is any other 2nd year quarterback, teams would be giving him time to grow, let the nfl speed slow down, and not much would be expected from him.....but because he is fast and brings another element with the wildcat, he needs to be a world beater immediately or else hes cut. thats dumb.

Pennington is not going to play forever. IMO Pat White is not given the same opportunity as most young qbs on a nfl roster that drafted them. And imo hes not being given a fair shake......

I dont understand the hate towards him from dolfans either.

Dissapointed, but I'd hope we'd be getting a draft pick by trading Thigpen....

agreed. There's still a lot of potential in what Pat White could bring to a team in the NFL. God forbid he didn't show it in his rookie season.

I know there's an extreme difference in views on this topic, but I feel Pat White is no more than a wildcat formation player. The problem with that is last year, it seemed like every time he was part of the wildcat, they lost yards. So I wouldn't approve of him making the team. Just my .02 cents.

Let me ask you guys this....

We draft a pocket passing qb next year.....he practices with 3rd teamers, and doesnt get into alot of preseason games.....the season starts.....he plays in 14 games....only getting into the game 3-5 times.....are you expecting him to have a rhythm? are you expecting him to come out and pick defenses apart? with limited participation and experience? as a ROOKIE????

then why are we expecting anything more from Pat White? I dont get it.

I don't think that many people hate White as much as it is that he is taking up a roster spot. It would be one thing if the whole WC was working out but it's not. If we keep White then he must have shown some improvement outta the WC in the bubble during training camp.

Some of you are missing the point of preseason; we didn't showcase the wildcat and the different formations to come out of it. With so many injuries over the season last year Miami didn't have a lot of flexibility in their offense so the WildPat kind of took a backburner without Ronnie Brown; if Pat White makes the team I think he will see a lot more action this season.

If they cut White I will be upset, but only because we didn't try to draft Tebow....he's had a solid preseason and Tebow would be a Wildcat dream player with his versatility.

It was before, IIRC, and that's why we took him so high. Yet another case of our FO being snookered by Belicheat.

I doubt it. I'm sure they never thought he'd be such a terrible passer, and show so little growth.

Wooohooo!! Pat White is gone!! The worst second round pick of all time is no more!! It is a shame that Miami could have gotten a starting OL in Andy Levitre or a starting linebacker in Clint Sintim with that pick.

Because Pat White is not a quarterback and never should have been played at this position in the NFL. It was very clear to anyone with two eyes that he wasn't NFL quarterback material when he was in college. He's an athlete. His greatest attribute is his legs, not his arm or his mind. He won't catch on with another team either because he is unwilling to move to another position. I hope you enjoy watching him in the CFL or watching him toil away in short season ball next summer as a sub .200 hitter that cannot hit a quality breaking pitch.

well sintim has been demoted because keith bulluck, yes that 30+ old LB who tore his acl last year is the starter now, the worst 2nd round pick must still be eddie more, at least white somehow had an impact and helped us beat the jets on that monday night game, moore never did anything

To be fair Sintim is playing in a 4-3 there, versus the 3-4 he played in all through college, though I do share some of your sentiment.

I wanted Mohammed Massaquio with that 2nd rd pick, though I preferred Barwin or Sintim over White (both of whom would still be on the team at worst).

Oh, so now Levitre is in your mix, last yr it was "Clint Sintim would have been perfect" now that he cannot beat out the ancient Bulloch you had to add someone who didn't suck to your "we could have had" list?

I don't know, White actually had a productive play or two last year. Alphonso Smith of the Broncos was not only drafted before White last year, but they traded a 1st rd pick for him, and he is possibly going to get cut.

just shows how ruthless our FO is. We'll cut guys like Zach Thomas in a heartbeat but keep Pat & his arm around for practice just so the burden can be eased on Penny? I'm surprised we couldn't at least get a late round pick for him.

You know, had we taken Massaquio we might not have taken White and might have got a TE in the 3rd rd instead of Turner.

You actually think after watching that bum play that anyone would have given anything of value for him? He has no potential as a quarterback. NONE! Plus, he is not willing to move to an athletic position. Why would anyone give anything of value for a guy who cannot play quarterback and doesn't want to play wide receiver or defensive back?

Like I said, he's either CFL bound as a back up quarterback in that league, or he's heading to short season ball next summer where he will toil as a sub .200 hitter much like Dennis Dixon did when he thought he could play baseball.
