Amaya and Ness are more PS material imho, Amaya looked slow moving inside out and Ness had one good game, but he is not a solid cover guy, he is more of a safety imho.

 

I'm disappointed that Ryan Baker didn't survive. He seemed to have potential as a 3rd NT.

 

matt leinart got released....being the franchise 5 weeks ago and the turd in the end..that was fast

 

Practice Squadder Des, he did flash some nice skills in limited duty.

I'd much rather have Baker stick around than Dotson.

Agreed. Though I thought Baker was good enough to put on the roster this year. I guess Soliai's improvement means we can do without Baker.

 

Adding Douglas, Grant and Odrick meant that there just is no room right now for Baker.

No. NTs don't play that often anyway. We have enough talent at DE where they can play "DT" in 4 down/nickel situations.

 

Generally speaking they only carry 2 NT's on most active rosters.

I think Grove and Proctor cannot exist on the same roster with McQuistan on the squad.

I think they could, though they probably will not, but I'm still not betting against Grove. Despite his pay, he is immensely better than Proctor.

 

Problem Grove has is if he is not the Starting Center, then where does he play?

AFAIK he has never played G in the NFL and backup Center's typically are the swing Guard as Berger was in 09. Proctor can play all 3 positions.

Plus if we do sign Hurd, they like to match a waived players salary with the newly signed player, Grove makes 2.6 million (or so) Hurd 1.7 million to clear space to sign Hurd they'd cut Grove imho.

I don't see any indication that Grove isn't the starting center, beyond maybe being too dinged up to play week 1.

And I'd rather Grove get his injuries out of the way earlier rather than later.

Edit: David Martin was cut? WTF? Maybe it's a move to make sure his salary isn't guaranteed. Hopefully they'll re-sign him after week 1.

Well, there is going to be a flood of waived players soon as most of the NFL has not reported whom they have waived.

 

Pads is there a time, they have to be cut by today, or is up until 11:59PM tonight?

 

They had been saying 4pm today, but I had also just saw someone say like 6pm.

But then Ireland and Co will pick through other teams waived players and re-adjust the roster at the bottom 50-53 more or less.

 

All cuts must be made and reported to the NFL by 6 PM Eastern today.

 

Well we really don't need both, especially with that salary as a 7th DL.

 

Hope he is wrong as it makes little sense with Henne's reliance on the two Te sets, and no one has tweeted in support of what was said so..

Hmm, should be interesting as both have roles, if it is passrushing they want then Grant is on the hot seat as Douglas was solid against the run.

At this point though, I do not see a passrushing DE, Vet or Youngster, who has been waived as of yet.
