I thought he would be the nickel boundary corner with Will Allen or Sapp movign inside, I also though he was too good of a special teamer to just cut. As for Cb play, he still doesn't get his head turned quickly, what he has improved on is his hand use, he can knock a reception out of a Wr's hands, in the past it was the worst of both worlds. I also think Clemons winds up with his first pick when Trent Edwards goes after Jason Allen deep.
I am not a coach...I didn't make this move, they did. I just agree with it. I think they thought last year that he was a rookie and they attributed his lack of coverage (and it was lacking) and lack of toughness (and that was lacking also) would improve with time. To this point, from what I see (and apparently from the coaches POV as well,) he has not improved. Maybe this demotion motivates him. Maybe it does not. Does he play any STs at all? If he doesnt, he should be very worried. JA, for all of his faults, is a tough kid. I think Parcells will handle mistakes if you will at least put your head down and tackle. In any case, I hope Sean Smith can recover from whatever issues he is having and be the player we thought he would be last year.
I think this sends a clear message. Doesn't matter where you were drafted. If you don't ,ome to play, you will be replaced.
I have yet to see why everyone deams him horrible. Everyone here knows his history of position changes. Again, his high pick status haunts him. I think he can get the job done for now. Like Raf said, his athleticism is off the charts, he just needs more reps (hopefully).
One bad thing I have noticed about JA is he spends some time on the ground slipping and whatnot. Effort is not an issue, nor size. I wish we had held onto Nathan Jones.
Everyone says he's horrible because he has mental lapses and he still hasn't figured out the technical aspect of cornerback. He's had a lot of position changes but I think that's partly his own fault. You don't get moved that much because you're good, you get moved that much because you're not so good at that position.
Wow Sean Smith how far you have fallen. I'm willing to bet if he doesn't turn this around this year he gets traded.
God, this has been a depressing couple months. Everything seemed so positive when we got Marshall, and since then it's all been downhill.
I see what you did there. I'm not going to make excuses for him at all. If you play badly, you play badly. Wait....What? Were we talking about JA or SS?
No ****. I was thinking this just today. It seems to be coming apart at the seams. We're in the third year of the three year plan, and we're nowhere close being where we need to be.
Thats why the coaches in the past havent trusted him, and have moved him around I agree. The reason most people say he's terrible is because he hasnt been able to get himself on the field, and was a 1st round pick. Its not a matter of him killing our team on the field with horrible play.
so our starting D in Buffalo looks like: Langford Starks/Solai Odrick/Mcdaniel Wake Dansby Chrowder Misi Allen Clemons Bell Davis so why r what so nervous again. front 7 looks stacked to me
I think he has never played with consistant technique. He is a natural athlete with good size/speed but he is not consistant play-in-play-out.
I think the reason others are nervous is because we have three walking mental lapses in the secondary.
Well, Soliai will rotate in often. The way I see this season is: -Nolan's Defense will have to be outstanding in pressuring the Qb. -On offense, the Stars have to make plays and lift the supporting cast as the B teamers are completely unproven.
Damn. You guys sound like the Dolphins are just gonna roll their collective corpse into Ralph Wilson next Sunday and just lie there rotting as the Bills kick them. I might be lowering my expectations, but as long as this Dolphin team shows some collective fight in them Week 1, then I can be somewhat optimistic about the rest of the season. Then again, that 2007 team also had fight in them the first half of the season. Meh, we'll see what we're in for come kick-off.
im not that pissed about this. unlike sean smith, jason allen makes plays on the ball. sean smith sucks ***......id rather see jason allen give up a big play going for a int....than sean smith giving up a big play cause he had a mental lapse
No argument there. I dont even pretend to be a secondary coach so I dont know. But you can play with perfect technique and still suck. Alot keep saying how bad Vontaes technique is in comparison to Sean's but look now we have this revelation. I cant recall a time JA has ever killed us with his onfield play. Maybe its his athleticism combined with his instincts that give him an advantage.
Sick is your last show archived? It seems like some of these moves were gone over in that show. Inbetween your opinion on Dan Henning being shared with everyone..
For all the Sean smith haters here is your chance..you get what you want so let's hope it works out for you. Personally I think this is a disastrous move. Enjoy.
I also think people over emphasize single bad plays or bad games. If this was a year ago, Moss torching J.A. would be fresh in everybody's mind. IMO he played okay the rest of the year. I think that is what happens with Smith too. He's been beaten more recently so people over emphasize that.
Pretty much. Back to Mr. Negativity for me. If Sean Smith can't beat out Jason Allen in his second year.... you can pencil him in as another wasted high draft pick by this FO. I hate the direction of this football team as much as the Marlins.
In all honesty they both have showed more in a negative capacity. Is it the worse of two evils? Is it because Jason has the years(exp) on Sean? Is Sean a bust? I hope not another one. They have both given up BIG plays. It is cause for concern also. It seems you like Sean less, and it's justified to this point.Yet, he was put into a unique situation and might need the time to sit back and take it all in for now.he will be back IMO.
Sean Smith didn't step up from last year while Vontae did. People can say what they want about Allen but he was never roasted as much as Smith, tackles better and gets turnovers. Thank god Davis has stepped up so far.....we can't go another year of so many deep balls. Will Allen's injury really hurt though as he would have gotten his starting job back.
Anything can happen in the NFL, but not being a fortune teller, all I can do is look at the signs they've shown me. The Dolphins have had a very high turnover at key positions, they've had a poor showing in the preseason at O line, QB, RB and DBs and they've cut high draft picks from the last couple year's drafts. To me, that doesn't signal a team that's about to go on a playoff run.
