I'm surprised you're comfortable with our secondary. I'd love to feel the same way. What are your reasons for being confident in Clemons, Smith, Davis and Sapp/Carroll?

I'm watching the Cowboys game right now and wondering why time and time again I'm seeing play action on 3rd and long? It almost got Henne killed. Not to mention it was the play where Long got injured. This is the type of crap from Henning I don't want to see anymore. I have faith in the players on this team. I have minimal faith in the person responsible for calling plays for the offense.

They aren't working on solvent the problems, that's why they're degreasing.

I kinda went over that, but the majority of my post is about not being confident in the team at the moment due to their lackluster play.

And with our recent history of slow regular season starts, I think that worry is justified.

I'm so glad you posted this.

The Dallas announcers were mocking it during the game (Moose Johnson and another former Cowboy QB, can't remember). Hell I remember seeing it last year repeatedly, including 4th-and-10 in the 2-minute offense.

Just goes to common sense. Frustrating.

So wait, the FO goes out and gets the best WR on the market and the best LB and NOW... Now you lose faith?

    LOGICS.

    Has some!

I'm confused. I understand the similarity between digressing and degreasing. Is there some sort of history to this. Also, digress doesn't mean what many of you think. Sorry to be that guy.

The team isn't digressing either btw.
    Maybe he meant devolving?

Well not that it really matters but I'd rather look like **** in preseason rather than the Spurrier-led Redskins and have my dreams crushed when they go 5-11 in the regular season.

Sure we would have liked to have seen a little more from the team but I won't concern myself about it until it counts.

Sign me in with the thread title. I don't know about my "faith" in this year's team, but the FO? No faith at all. I guess that would be one of the only perks of a poor season.... CHANGE.

I know the season hasn't even started and forgive me for discounting what could be a great season for us (and I sincerely hope that it is), but I am getting tired of this fascination the FO has with the DL and OL while it continues to ignore much needed answers on positions like TE, and FS. IMHO they could have added more talent there.

I don't know what the problem is.

Dedorfdad decided da' Fin's have a devolving defensive secondary. Desides disagrees, but I digress.

Actually, it seems to me they have an infatuation with the unfamiliar. They are constantly dumping relatively competitive players on the roster and picking up unknowns.

I'm not going to jump off the bandwagon. If we can come out 4-4 in the first 8 games it would be a "win" imo. The schedule is brutal.

But, that's also what concerns me and that they are going into the season with a young team that is inexperienced, that is struggling, that has yet to prove it can a) cover WR's; b) sack the QB; c) put up points.

When they say, "We cut these veterans (who have performed decently) because these are some guys we liked going into the draft," that is a concern. It strikes me as being fully enamored of their own scouting prowess.

Perhaps it's more an infatuation with their own ingenuity.

They have built a relatively competitive team with some physicality to it. But, given the way they have looked - and some of the wild personnel "plays" there is some room for concern about the team's circumstances.

I don't know why you have to bring me into the discussion. Desides, I don't even have a defensive secondary to devolve!

Exactly what I meant all along thank you. While I understand bringing in some younger talent is the "norm" the departure of "above average" players for unknown cheaper players smells like a financial deal.

I honestly do not hope the front office looked at the schedule and decided with Ross that this year is going to be a hard sell to get into the playoffs and decided to just clean house of anyone with any issues and or high contracts and grow with youth again.

I cant understand this front office right now. These moves are just making us on paper "weaker" especially now on defense we are paper thin..

I think Buffalo will be a reality check for the Dolphins. I think they will play us tough and close to the end. I just hope I am wrong and we magically turn into the Colts or Green Bay.

There's no doubt they are way too in love with this young player thing. There's no denying they have been making mistakes. I think we as fans set our expectations maybe a little too high b/c these guys were hired by Bill Parcells. The 08 season added to that. They're green, they're not Parcells. They have never run an NFL team. He is surely mentoring them but it seems fairly clear he's not telling them what to do. They have to take their lumps. Now if we're sitting here after a couple more seasons and it seems clear they're not getting it, then I guess you have to consider moving in a new direction... again. If this season is bad I wonder how long their leash becomes.

this is obviously a very make or break year... if the team struggles, Ross will probably get an itchy trigger finger...they are all a package deal. I can't see Ireland staying if Sporano is fired, for example. And of course no way Parcells sticks around if one of his boys gets axed.

The weird thing is the FO is making moves that seem to contradict each other. Go all in with trading for B-Marsh and signing Dansby, yet waffle and shtcan a ton of vets and guys with experience for guys with zero. Seems to be incongruous.

We our going to have a bottom five secondary.Lets take a closer look, sean smith who supposed to be a stud in his 2nd year is being replaced by allen who was on the bubble to be cut.We traded a sure handed receiver for one of the the worst corners in the nfl.The secondary gave up a long pass in every pre season game just like last year with no safety anywhere to found on the tv screen. Will allen has been placed on IR.
We will be lucky to win 7 games this year. I am so dissapointed I am driving 6 hrs up too buffalo with no confidence they are going to win this game.I was before the preseason thinking we were going to win the division.

Add it a layer of excessive ego to that statement. I like our front office, but they are arrogant - and sorry I agree with thread start - kind of losing my faith a bit, not because we are not in position to win this year, but rather it seems like the gap is pretty big. If they held onto R. Hill, Goodman, and Jason Taylor - at least our secondary would be solid, if not great, and our passrush would at least on paper seem adequate. Right now pretty much terrified of our secondary and pass rush.

As far as recent cuts, people got to remember all these people (vets) were available on waivers so it is not to say we dropped premier players. However, a lot of young players have to buck up for us to be competitive.
