I think it's obvious that Parcells is getting fed up with someone's BS (I wonder who?).

I think that this is a good thing. BP should be free to analyze talent without all the headaches. That's why Shula never wore a headset - he was the same way. Neither wanted people up their butt.

The real concern I have is why they felt this was necessary.?? I wonder what the hidden issue is??

I think this was a big part of it. I dont think hes feeling it and he doesnt want to get "fired". I am not saying this team can't succeed or even won't. I just know, as a long time football fan and and long time Fins fan, I often have a feeling about a season or a Particular team....

This season I have a feeling about the Packers and Texans. The Fins..not so much. i hope I am wrong.

It's been said a few times on the air, when Petersons name was mentioned, that Peterson had no interest in returning except to a limited role.

    I PRAY !!

Most of the big decisions have been made for this season, so this new role will be for next season, so we should stop the Carl Peterson talk for now. It's a long time away if it's even a real possibility, which I not sure that it is, so let's forget that talk for now. It's too depressing.

The accountability for this season now falls squarely on the shoulders of Jeff and Tony. They don't have the luxury of namedropping Parcells.

On the bright side I suspect this will lead to more accountability.

On the flip side that sure looks like King Carl with a blow torch underneath Jeff Ireland's chair.

With all this drama I'm starting to think we should move to NJ to fit in ...

well, riley and i'm assuming here(just know it was a basketball coach) was the one that talked pat white up to parcells at a baseball game enough for parcells to spend a 2nd round pick on the guy.if that ws truly the case then i really don't want our draft guru's taking advice from basketball coaches they sat next to at a baseball game or hockey coaches at a circus.

one thing that has been erking me about this front office is that ts will sit there and say "we want lb's at the lb positin and quarterbacks at the qb position" then they go out and draft a dt to play de,a de to play lb,a gaurd to play center and a tackle to play gaurd.so far both odrick and misi are looking fine at their new positions but i would like to see some consistantcy in what the coach says and what the gm does.

i was questioning ireland as a gm the moment they threw a ton of money at a oft injured lineman and threw a ton of cash at earnest wilford thinking he was going to be the second coming of terrel owens.as hard as it is to say though i think i would still rather ireland over peterson any day of the week.

I like Irish and Sparano, however what is with the dislike of Peterson?

The most successful streak of winning seasons KC ever had was with Peterson at the helm.

Isn't it just as likely that he decided to leave his official post now, because he feels Jeff & Tony are ready, and actually feels the team will be good this season?

Think about it, if he left because of problems, then why stay on as a consultant? Why not just leave completely? If he thought they'd be horrible and doesn't want to have his name attached, then just leaving completely would do that way more effectively than staying on in a diminished capacity.

Maybe not. Just curious as to why the reason for X situation always has to be nefarious.

Maybe we can get Charlie Casserly. He made the call of Mario Williams over Reggie Bush. This assuming Parcells to wind down his commitment to Miami. And if Casserly is willing to throw his hat in the ring again.

Congrats to Ireland, even though it still remains more of a floor show than an ultimate bequeathing of supreme power. Parcells was a lowly "consultant", before he named himself to the lofty post as VPFO.
If he still has Ross's ear, he still owns the thone.

His first 10 seasons were ok, his last 10 stunk, and he pissed off more than his share of players and one of his coaches had to learn he was fired thru the media telling him Vemeil was close to signing a deal. He learned thru their website that he was out....

Carl is a grade A douche in my bag. He managed to make KC just competitive enough to make the playoffs every year, never good enough to get over the hump. A big part of his problem was something we've seen here in Miami, an abject refusal to address the QB situation. He went after stop-gap veterans for the longest time, which worked for them up until Vermeil retiring.

He doesn't excite me at all. It's a case where the team will always be 8-8 or 9-7 but never be competing for a Super Bowl. Mediocre.

Carl Peterson makes his way into this franchise and I'll be facing a crossroads of my fandom. Seriously.

Here are the 2 things I take from this:
    1. I think people are over-reacting about the timing of it all. I think now is the perfect time for this to happen. All the offseason stuff is done. If not now when? Halfway through the regular season? At the end of the season when all the real roster decison begin to take place?

    2. I can't believe people still listen to LeBatard.

Yep. That's exactly what it is. I mean it's not like Parcells is still around to consult with Ireland and Sparano daily. Oh wait. What a ridciulous post to say the least. Everyone with half a brain knew this was coming. It was the plan all along. To get Sparano and Ireland experience and then let them do their own thing when Parcells feels they're ready. These are grown *** men. They don't need Papa Parcells holding their hand anymore... Personally, I'm happy about this. We have a problem on our hands if Parcells stays. It means Ireland and Sparano aren't ready to hold the fort on their own, and the longer Parcells stays, the more you have to question if they ever well be able to hold the fort.

I'm really confused as to what everyone is posting here...

Parcells signed a 3 year deal, and had the ability to opt out of it as soon as he wanted once Ross was signed on board.

Parcells' Job was to perform offseason acquisitions. Day to day management of the team was Ireland's job, and Sparano is the HC.

Parcell's job for Offseason acquisition is done now that we're going into week one. He's apparently done most of his scouting for next year and gotten that squared away, and has given Ireland 2 years of tutoring on how to find talent...

How is this in any way different from what he said he was going to do when he was hired on for a 3 year contract, other than the fact that Ross was hired.

I mean, I'm aware the sky is falling, we're going 0-16, and our entire team is full of coked out whackos... but come on, it's not all bad...

I think what has everyone so spooked is the time frame. Making a move like this before the first game has many looking at it as a red flag. Beyond that I have no answer as to why the sky is falling.

I hope they addressed the team with this before they just blurted out a public statement as it could be a distraction. If the fans are concerned how do you think the players would respond.

This is a typical Parcells move; never fully weighing the impact of what he does to those around him. He's a great coach but a crappy PR guy and his decisions over the years have been pretty instant and radical.

I am starting to think that Napoleon had a Parcells complex.

I'm sure some will pooh-pooh this notion, but I'm not sure you are too far off the truth. I don't think he is thrilled by what has happened here and is getting out before another failed season. He knows Peterson is lurking and in Ross' ear all the time.

And he also oversaw the complete destruction of the KC franchise 2006-2008. Even though they didn't go 1-15 they actually might have been in worse shape than we were. The rebuilding there is still behind ours.

Judging from a few of Armando's blog posts, it seems as though Ireland has been running the show for quite a while now. Basically Ireland made the decisions himself, but went to Parcells for approval. He must feel as though the grooming is complete.

Personally, I think this move will be good and bad for fans. Good, because now the players and staff will be more accessible since Mike Dee will now have more control. Bad, because the "nightclub" atmosphere that so many fans dislike will be more prevalent than ever.

Then again, we all expected this to happen.

We all knew this day would come, I just wish that Bill would have given us maybe one more offseason/draft to work on. A lot could have been gained by him seeing the talent he's put together for another year, and then with that extra offseason to work more on any holes he saw, he coulda left us in MUCH better shape next year. Hopefully Ireland has learned a lot and will keep us going in the right direction, but I would just feel more comfortable knowing Bill was overseeing everything just a tad bit longer.

That's how I saw it... Seems the timing tips his hat to Ireland and Sparano as they'll get more credit for this season if he bows out now. With of course the plan being a very successful season.

He will be, he's only stepping down from day-to-day operations. He will be staying on as a consultant. I think he may even be in the War Room on next draft day.
