Shiancoe looks to be their best receiving threat. He won't get called on those obvious pushoffs at home. Glad we have Dansby to help cover him.

I feel a lot better about our ability to tackle as we will have our hands full with Peterson.

Favre is probably the best screen thrower in the game but it looked like we did a solid job today against screens.

I'm more concerned about how we manufacture points on offense. The Vikings were giving the Saints fits most of the game.

We got great push from the offensive line today but you can be sure Henning will mimic those Saints inside runs against the Williams wall if we even decide to bother. Yeah, we'll bother, but maybe we should wait till late in the game.

The Vikings will be pissed off, pumped up and roaring. That dome will be loud and crazy the whole game. They'll have lots of time to game plan against us and we cannot afford to simply play it safe.

I think we have to start fast and finish strong. By that I mean I think we have to throw early with plenty of quick hitting misdirection plays. Then we choke them out at the end like usual with long, time consuming drives. I think Henning unveils a new wrinkle in the wildcat this game and takes more chances downfield.

I honestly don't like our chances in these circumstances, but I do like the idea of finding out what our team is made of...

their wrs arent much of anything (sorry cam) without Rice, so our secondary should be ok. We need to stop Peterson and force favre to beat us. Now he's more than capable of doing that, but he's also more than capable of throwing an int or two.

Going into Minnesota will be tough, no doubt. That dome is one of the hardest places in the NFL to play in. The interior offensive line is going to have to get a good push to handle Kevin and Pat Williams. We have to open up some holes for the running game early. If we can establish play action as a credible threat early I think our offense can do some good. The Vikings CB situation is unsettled and we could take advantage of that.

As for defense, a lot depends on Starks. If he can anchor the line then we should be able to prevent AP from killing us. We wont stop him of course, but we may contain him. The WR situation in Minny is very weak right now and Favre doesn't seem to have that killer instinct this year. If our defense looks as good next week as this week we have a legitimate shot.

Obviously the Metrodome is ridiculously tough to play in, so expect some false start penalties. So, 3 words: Contain Adrian Peterson. I don't think Favre will have a great game without Rice, so expect AP to carry a big workload. Anyways, we can always hope for some mind boggling call plays from Chilly that will benefit the Phins

PS: The last play Favre was facing the Jets, this happened.

I think you just have to start knocking Favre around a little bit and he starts to make mistakes. Their defense is solid, but nothing special, once you get past the 2 Williams's, and we have our own Williams they can worry about.

    We got this.

Favre had a blast the last time he played us IIRC. :shifty: Hopefully we pressure the crap out of him and he defeats himself for us. This could be a "he who makes the first mistake loses" type of game. I'm picturing Brett or AP turning it over early, giving us a short field to score on, and then our D never lets up. How's a 16-13 victory sound?

Were going to see what this D really has next week.

Lots of youth at the OLB spots makes Adrian Peterson VERY dangerous to us.
Coaches are going to have to focus on keeping the young guys keeping their responsibilities in mind.

Losing Rice was a problem for Minny.
    Their passing game looked putrid.
Favre was still hurting and couldn't move like he always has.
I think we can get to him and shake him.

Shiancoe will be our biggest challenge in the passing game.
I also feel like Camarillo could be an issue for us.
Favre was desperate to find a reliable option last week and Cammy fits that role.

On offense the passing game will be key next week IMO.
The OL and our RB's will have issues if we cannot show any ability to get the ball down the field.

we need to capitalize on turnover opportunities. they have worse WRs than the Bills, but an o-line that is better several times over. but then again, the saints got a nice rush on them.

we need to bring our a game and make plays. we could win.

Pressure on Favre, hit him hard, 2+ turnovers, no penalties= win

AP can run for 100+ yards as long as its from the 30 to the 30 and they don't score.

No question Rice being out is a major benefit especially for containing Peterson. We may even see Bell in the box for a huge part of the game. Just bring it really to Favre. Knock him around as the team did a couple of years ago.

As for the other side of the ball Long and the offensive line must keep Allen and Edwards off of Henne. If they can then the Dolphins have a great shot at getting massive yardage out of the WRs. Running should be primarily off tackle.

I'm expecting a strong performance from the Passing game against the Vikings. I didn't go into the Bills game expecting that, I expected a run dominant game.

It will be exciting to see if Wake gets to Favre, I hope he forces a fumble. Defense will be hungry for INTs after those drops today.

If we get our hands on some of Farve's passes we need to capitalize and win the turnover battle.

Marshall will help keep drives going, r&r will be in tough. Carpenter needs to be flawless.

It will be a tight game. Containing AP will be a huge challenge too.

Pound the ball behind Long right down Allen's throat. Good pass rusher, not much on the run defense. If you let him just sit there and go beserk on the QB he will ruin our day. Put him on his heels early and we should buy the time to throw.

OL and DL play will be key for both teams. For us, we need to contain AP, pressure Favre and hold off a potent Vikes DL. For them, they will need to contain the R&R train to keep pressure off a suspect secondary, and offensively they will need give Favre time to throw, and AP the room to make a move.

Will be a tough game. I don't think the Vikes are as good as last year and I think we can take them. Away dome games are always tough, but hopefully we can tough it out and come away with a win.

One possibility is that we run off tackle left a few times against Allen all the while rolling Marshall across the field to make the catch on a PA. Run that a few times it'll keep them honest. Their 4-3 can be stifled if those ends are neutralized. We do have a good pair of tackles to do the job but one of them will probably need help, hopefully not both. Even then you have to believe that if you give the ball to Marshall and Brown they can keep the team moving in a grinding fashion.

Good point. IF I had to put up money on this game straight up I would take the Vikings. All around I just feel they have a better team.

That doesn't mean I don't think we can win though. If we can walk out of there 2-0 just think about it. Wow. with the next two games at home against divisional rivals we would be looking sweet.

Alas I am getting ahead of myself. This game is going to be very hard for us win.

If Odie is out, do we bring back Douglas or Grant?

Or bump McD into the starting lineup?

I loved the 4-3 looks and it really shut down the Bills, Nolan probably should use it against the Vikes as if AP is shut down their main weapon is Shinacoe

I believe we can and will win this game. Farve just does not look the same as last year, he isn't moving the same and thus the Vikes are beatable imho.

They don't have Rice and we can contain AP, we also line up much better against their secondary, if our WR's will catch the ball!!

The Guy that scares me is Cammy, if he and Farve get hot, it will be a long day!

We will win if the Defense plays consistent as yesterday and tackles like they did! That is one of the best tackling games I can recall!!! Dansby, Bell, Wake, Misi??? WOW! The whole D...

Henne has to work on accuracy as that will be a key, as well as locking onto one target!!! If he does, we'll go a long way. And get rid of the ball quicker...

Bro if we beat Minny in Minny the whole NFL will notice us.

Back to back road wins to open a season with a extremely young team?

That would be massively difficult to pull off.

Oh ya, this will be something I focus on all game. I just hope Jake is 100% for this game. I know he played all game yesterday, but it wasn't against the greatest front 7 in the league :shifty:

If Jake is indeed 100% I see this being one of the must see match-ups of the game.

Our front 7 vs Vikes O-line and AP. Probably one of if not the biggest match-up of the game. I was really watching our D-line yesterday and Starks was playing every position on the line. They moved him around a ton and I think that is to his best benefit. One of the lineups looked like we had Starks at DE, Solia at NT, and McDaniel on the other end. A lot of beef on the line seems to allow Starks to move outside and do what he does best. Hopefully we can do this against a GREAT O-line in the Vikes.

This should be a great game. Our offense has struggled all preseason and continued into the regular season against New Orleans. Our defense has looked pretty good. Even our spotty secondary held Brees and company in check. If the Fins find a way to score by keeping the Vikings defense off balance they have a decent chance at pulling out a Win.

I think however that this being the first game at the dome this year that things will be rocking loud. I'll certainly be doing my part to bring the noise. That said, we almost lost our home opener last year (remember the 49er/Vikes miracle TD pass in the closing seconds...Favre to Greg Lewis). Regardless home field advantage will be big. The Vikings have not lost a game at home since the 2008 season against the Eagles.

It will be interesting to see your strength, against our strength. (run O vs. run D)

The homer in me says the Vikings come out on top by at least a TD, but I suspect your young team gives them fits at times.

    Good luck and no injuries!

Welcome token Vikes fan! :knucks: Agree completely. I'm hugely looking forward to this game! The battle in the trenches will be fun to watch (a real slugfest). I'm looking forward to seeing how rookie guard, John Jerry, holds up against the Williams. To be honest, I think either team has a chance to win. IMO whomever loses the first turnover might very well lose the game. We blew multiple defensive opportunities against Buffalo, so I have a hard time seeing us do that 2 weeks in a row. Wouldn't it be ironic if the game is won by either Camarillo catching a TD or Sapp with a pick 6.

Thanks for coming by with the respect, right back at ya. If Favre is up to the kind of caliber he was last year, you will have one hell of a team. Hopefully for us this week he's still shaking off the offseason cobwebs ;)

    "Token Vikes Fan" lmao!

I expect a close game as well. I think Favre still has rust to shake (best case scenario) and missing Rice is appearing bigger an issue than some expected. I still think Camarillo may be on board for his biggest season ever. We all know that when Favre finds a favorite target it becomes evident in a hurry. A lot of Vikings fans are optimistic that Camarillo can step in and be this guy...at least until Rice returns from injury.

Hopefully this trade turns out to benefit both teams. On the surface it seems like a win/win trade. Of course now that the Vikes are down to three dressing CBs, Benny is looking more and more valuable. But than again, we only have 4 dressing WRs so what's a guy to do?

Congrats on starting 1-0. As this week's token Vikings fan, I'd like to mention that I like your young team, so long as they aren't playing the Vikings of course.

LOL. Thanks. Cammy is an extremely smart reliable receiver, so I'm sure he will quickly instill confidence in Brett being able to trust him. Our #2, Hartline, is showing a trend of regressing, so we'll definitely be missing Cam, but our D seems to be our strength right now so I personally prefer having Sapp. I believe you'll have to beat us with Berrian, Harvin, and Cam as our D should be just as stingy vs the run as you guys are, and Dansby will do his best to make Shiancoe and a non-factor. If we lose a close game by 3 I'd probably be content..... although I'd me much happier winning by 3.

    2. I think this is what I didn't like about Week 1:
    a. Brett Favre's accuracy. Is he rusty or too far gone? "There were three or four throws I just missed,'' he said after the 14-9 loss to New Orleans. Give him four or five weeks to get back in shape; if he has two or three more like that one the other night, we'll think it's because he's a 40-year-old man with an 80-year-old left ankle.
