I'm hearing a number of negative comments on Henning's play calling vs Buff. as being way too conservative. I have to disagree.

Henning, who may well be Mother Nature's son :), had to deal with very windy conditions. He must have upset Mom.

Amazingly, the announcers never mentioned this. Carpenter does not kick balls out of the end zone, and Fields does not punt 35 yard line drives.

I also saw where Henne said the ball to Marshall was held up by the wind.

It was far from an impressive performance from our O but, Henning's Mom's interference does put thing in a different perspective. JMO

I wonder if the wind is why DC$ missed that FG.

Yeah, and Minny is banged up in the secondary. Looking for an entirely different O from Henning.

I LOVE anyone who can help our team to accomplish more than their talent level. So far, I believe he has done that.

Hard to say, sure it did not help. DC is normally money from there.

No, he did not but, cannot fault him for his game plan. I did question the use of the WC, and the pass called before the two minute mark.

that does explain we he was so far off on that throw to marshall and Carpenter doesnt miss too many. Wind can be tricky, but both teams have to play in it so we juat have to deal with it like we did and get the win. now we play in a dome next week so hopefully our Offense looks a little better, i think it will

QB's and kickers hate the wind more than pouring rain, etc, especially the swirling ones when you have no idea if and when it may show up. The one exception may have been Carpenter when he kicked the ball out of the end zone. :)

Dan Henning called a very good game yesterday IMO. I only had problem with one play; the pass when we were running the ball very well. Other than that, he was very good IMO.

Only if he could catch the dropped passes, make the missed field goals, and catch the would be sure Pick 6's. Until then the players have to take the blame for a poor performance.

Agreed. We were very balanced on offense yesterday. Not as effective as we would have liked but the play calls had nothing to do with it.

Yes sir, dome next week. So maybe that B.Marsh double move will be hit in stride? I can see it.

Also, I know the Saints are the defending champs for a reason, and they definitely showed it on thursday against the Vikes, but maybe Nolan takes a few pointers from Greg Williams (N.O. DC I believe thats his name) and implement them into his scheme this week, but N.O. really put it on them. AP had under 100 yds I believe which is an accomplishment in my book vs a back of that elite caliber.

I agree, if you contain AP you give yourself a shot. And if Brett and his wideouts are still finding their timing. There were lots of poor communication in NO between Brett and the WR's.

That might be fixed by next sunday however. I still think Nolan has to ensure we contain AP as the primary objective.

The one where we were trying to run out the clock? 2:06 or something left. I said. WTF!!!! Free time out for buff.

Hitting long TD's would be nice. The key is pressure Favre and control the clock.

That call was questionable and risky. Buff did stack the line, and a little completion does end the game. I still did not like the call.

The WC in the second half did not work but, was an OK call. Henne was struggling. The WC looked out of sync to me.

We were up 10-0 with 11 minutes left in the 2nd half....we only scored a field goal the rest of the game plus the 2 point Safety late. I think Henning got way too Conservative but it was the Season Opener and I expect us to air it out more in Game 2. The defense played really well....I think it is nice that we have guys like Wake who are able to get to the QB, and Dansby and our linebackers are making tackles and wrapping guys up. We're 1-0, and it's time to focus on Favre and AP. We have to play a lot better but I think we have a good shot in Minny.

Many "what if's" that could have made the game a 30-3 blowout.

Howzabout Culver looking for safety help on the TD. Needed a mirror to see he was the safety help. That was somewhat comical but, only because we won.

I wasn't trying to imply any what if's. I was simply saying at some point the players themselves need to be held accountable for the plays they make or don't make.

the flags were not blowing at 10 mph as reported.. it was worse.

It kind of looked like the conservative gameplan was inspired by this very wind, and was directed to henne..maybe thats why we saw the checkdown game so much...it was the right thing to do..?
