It's Quiet Out There

Much like every other football fan out there, I have been intoxicated with football the last couple of days. Of course part of that was watching the Phins get their 1st win of 2010...But that's not all.

I have spent hours watching other games, I have read a ton of articles, I listened to Mike and Mike for awhile, Van Pelt and even that loony "Mad Dog" Russo. Now tonight I spent the last 4 and a half hours watching more football including much laughing as the "Sanchize" looked like more like the "Sancheese."

Throughout all this time I have heard a lot about Favre, Brady, Moss, Pete Caroll, the Steelers D, the TD catch that wasn't a catch, holding on a last second TD, Houston finally beating the Colts, C.J., Mike Vick, and other stories I am forgetting. But what I haven't heard a peep about, is the Miami Dolphins.

Now I know, I know.."We didn't give anyone a reason to talk about us," but we did get the win, and for now, that's what is most important. But regardless, as a fan my ears and eyes are always open to hear and see what the so called "experts" have to say about my team. Its just a little bit more fun when we are making some "noise."

Yet right now it's quiet out there when it comes to our Dolphins. And that can change with one win...this Sunday.

Now if we walk into Minnesota and play decent, but walk away with a loss, it will be what everyone expected. Business as usual, and they will sing the praise of Favre and the resurgence of the mighty Vikings. But if we go in there hungry and walk away with a win, people will start talking.

Although being the center of attention isn't always the greatest thing, don't discount the power of getting into the conversation after a win in Minnesota. It will come one week before a matchup on Sunday night against the loud mouth Jets who are looking for revenge. Going 2-0, with a win against the media darling Favre in Minnesota, will get people talking about the Dolphins. It will get people ready for a huge matchup against the Jets, and it could give our young team who is still molding in this early season a powerful identity that can only help to build momentum.

We need this win...And we want to get them talking about the Miami Dolphins.

True, but really I could care less if ESPN does a 180 and begins kissing the Dolphins butts, they are what they are Pariah.

If we win the first two road games to open the season then story will be:

"Hey, look at the Dolphins, they came out of nowhere to win.."

Blah blah blah, we go 4-0 with three Divisional Wins, or 3-1, all manner of articles will begin to pop up.

Don't get me wrong Pads, winning is the most important thing. But I believe with winning comes forming a bond and an identity. And it also comes with media coverage, which although it isn't what may be deemed as "important," it is still something that adds to the forming of an identity and building momentum.

Plus as a fan I am not afraid to admit to the vanity of hearing my team talked about.

I know what you mean, I don't really care what the pundits say, but I just like Dolphins talk. Even though the only non band-wagoner would be Steve Mariucci. It disgusting how they only stick to a handful of teams to chat about, and becomes really frustrating. But if they are talking about us it must be because we are kicking arse which I would not mind.

Next week is a huge momentum game and if we can pull it off, we would coming home for 2 weeks and maybe 4-0 going into a bye, knock knock knock on wood. Although iI try to keep on blinders and stay focused on one game at a time like the team, but I am fan so it really does not matter lol.

If we can come up with that win next Sunday, which I am confident we can, my neighbors are going to hear some loud arse howls. :knucks:

And just think the wolves have an opportunity to feast on the 3 biggest dou**e bag QBs in a row: Old Man Favre, The Sancheese, and Tom "Bieber" Brady...

I'd love to win at Minnesota and thrash old man Favre, but really, of the next 3 games, it's the least important. Getting the two home wins vs Sanchez and Brady is an absolute must for winning the division this year. Plus, those are both primetime games. You want the media to pay attention to us? Those are the two games to do it with. With this defense, I believe we can squeak out a 3-1 record.

You completely missed the whole point of the post.

But I suppose you made yourself feel better with a snide comment. Low self-esteem will do that to people.

Well we're an outside wildcard pick on most people's radars and got an ugly win against a general consensus bottom 5 team.

We'll definitely know what kind of club we have over the next several games.

I would rather be out of the spotlight and not be talked about. See the Jets. They don't really have an offense other than LT (I bet their defense will score more TDs than their Offense) and the whole 'reporter' thing is out of propotions. Work hard and show up in Min.
My main issue that after this overexcited weekend there are 5 more days till Sun.... I'd rather they be boring for Dolphins and they save the talking for the Field. I beleive we can win this one if we maintain TOP like we did with Indy and NO last year.

    Just win them all.

Favre is looking old and run down.
The jest are looking pathetic on offense.
Brady and NE will be a test. Hopefully Moss makes them self implode before we play them.

Well, in 09 the Jets started out what 4-0? And the sports media was going nuts, same for the Broncos, only they were 5-0?

Interesting thing about that is Ryan and Nolan are both Ravens DefCord's going way back. Both the Jets and Broncos were led by their Defenses so let us see if Nolan can recreate his Broncos success in Miami if buzz is important to folks.

Keep in mind, the Sports Media really did believe that subtracting Taylor and Porter was a net loss, Misi, Wake, Ikaika etc are not even on the radar, Peter King's lame Cam Wake article prior to Opening Day was as close as any of them came to being noticed.

We could be 4-0 or 3-1 before anyone even notices the 2010 Dolphins, 2-2 won't mean very much in terms of buzz.

4-0 mean ZILTCH if you finish 9-7...

1-4 means ZILTCH if you finish 11-5 and win the division.

It's a long season.. We have one game under our belts.. The next 3 weeks, while critical, will not be our only chance.. I realistically see us finishing up the first month 2-2 heading in to the bye week. We probably lose at Minny, beat the Jesters and get steamrolled by the Patsies..

    3 weeks?

Bro, we are on the meat of the schedule, Vikes, Jest, Pasties, Pack, Ravens, Cinci, 2 homes games, 3 road games, this is pretty much the season in terms of meat of the schedule.

4-4 at best Pads... We may be 3-5 at some point, but hopefully the lax second part of the schedule will allow us to have a major streak.. We will find out A LOT about this team on Sunday... Do we come out and rough up Brett, disrupt their running game and have a base offense that can drive the ball downfield? If those three things happen, we will win.

Nice and quiet. Just the way the Dolphins like it. The media won't win you a Superbowl.

the Vikings are beatable even @ home, given that the Miami Offense steps up & I believe they will do exactly that... I suspect we'll continue to fly under the radar until winning the first four games. game four should be the crucible, one way or the other for Miami.

Good one Big Rue.....I found myself wanting to see the Fins highlights Sunday night. Now while I know Miami/Bills isnt the most anticipated game, I do expect to see something and have some talk about it. My chcik sat down because she wanted to see want Marshall looked like(she doesnt know anything about football, so I basically made her sit there) and it seriously took FOREVER to show this game.....I watch Pit/Det/Pats games all talked about and showed TWICE before Miami's.

Miami has never gotten respect for the media, nor do I expect them too, the last time the media played them up a couple of years ago, they didnt even make the playoffs, the year after the 1st place finish...

    Happy Birthday too today fool...
