Hi, I have been a member and fan of the site for a real long time, but hardly ever post due to my commitments to Finheaven.com (I know the sites don't get along, but what happened is none of my business). I am a columnist and news poster over there and I would like to pass on a story that was given to me. I have been informed by sources that the Miami Dolphins are giving serious consideration to placing LB Channing Crowder on IR. I am told Crowder might not be ready for the next 5 to 6 games and it could even be longer than that. The injury is described as a hip/groin injury.
could we see more Micah Johnson on the field? He seems to have a nose for the ball. Not saying he will start but might seem him some more
Not surprised. Fact is, the Dolphins seemed to have given up on this being a Superbowl year a few weeks ago already. I'd expect they IR Channing. Sad thing is, if we DO end up using this year to get experience for all the young players, we could end up having no football next year anyways.
I don't think the teams has given up. Channing is truly injured and they got lucky with replacements.
Finatic, I love what you do over there, much respect, would love for you to come here and do the same seeing that your pretty much the only reason I go there, but I understand if you can't..
That is the CRAZIEST statement I've EVER heard...??? Given up??? What the heck would give you that impression? Our D has honestly been fine without Crowder and our hope was that Dansby would make him better than average. Fact is that I was part of the faction saying Crowder would probably get beat out by Dobbins anyway.
I've heard the same and a bit more. We'll see what happens. As for FH, there's nothing between the sites that wasn't buried by ownerships 2 years ago.
You can't cut an injured player. Not without the two sides agreeing to an injury settlement anyway. Can't see them moving on without someone else proving themselves worthy. They like Crowder. Doesn't hurt for them to carry him into next year IMO.
This! The move to ThePhins has been great. Sometimes I miss the old zoo, but nothing beats the knowledgeable posters and community here.
Thanks 8480, you're one of the only reasons I sneek a peek there once in a while. We've also heard the rumblings...groin/sports hernia issue. This has to be pretty disappointing for Crowder too. We all know that he operates best when he's not the man and with Dansby there, he'll never be the man...That said, Dobbins injury must not be to bad or they really like what they've gotten from Carpenter because they waived Micah Johnson ?? Now, they could be looking at AD inside, he's played there before and probably gives the mad scientist Nolan another concoction of coverages that we don't have now, but I imagine he'd be another thumper inside, not a coverage guy. He could also give our stable of young OLBs some pointers as well. Or they could just be making it difficult for the jests to grab him ??
Is there something specific with his current injury to put him on IR or is it the combination of it plus his bad knees? Last week's tape of Crowder dressed and riding the bike seem to indicate that the injury was healing.
YEAH NO CUT BUT I HOPE WE DONT HAVE TO PUT HIM ON ir HE IS WORTH SOMETHING HE PLAYS HARD EVEN IF HE HURTS HIMSELF LOL Bad caps
I don't think so either. But I didnt think the Colts were going after they beat Jax 14-12 in week one last year and look what happened. Obviously, long term goals and short term fixes have to be merged together effectively, but IMO it's silly to assume that the Fins players or brass have given up reaching the Super Bowl based on a few roster moves.
AHMEN! Ireland and Sparano are at the beginning and 1-0, saying they have given up is simply not a smart statement (no offense).
I think Crowder is a wasted roster spot IMO. He's not doing anything for this team. Hasn't since Zach left. Ditto.
Maybe Crowder will be better with Dansby. And he evidently makes good calls and the staff likes that. But, I just don't see the love for the guy. I suppose he's better than Dobbins (given his play of late) or Carpenter. But, he is not a special player by any means. I'm much more concerned about Odrick being out of the lineup than Crowder.
I don't understand why the hell you'd give up after a Week 1 win (and people acted negatively before the reg season even began). Cutting Douglas, Grant and a few others really means the Phins are giving up the season? That's horrendously the opposite of reality
Yes to that and agreed. They won't cut him , he is one of Tony's boys .... I think if he wasn't he would have been IR'd or cut already .
well if thats the case Muck, count me as someone who would appreciate Finatic's services for our great site..He would be treated right here.
We cut four cast offs and a lard *** and they have given up a chance to win the SB. Crowder would be the straw that broke the camel's back. He has been so valuable in the past in our run for the big stage.
Thank you I think Thank you I think Thank you I think Thank you I think Thank you I think Thank you I think Thank you I think Thank you I think Thank you I think
Uhhh am I thinking of the same Crowder that you are ?? He's been very inconsistent. The only way he seems to play consistently is if there is someone else there to make the brunt of the plays inside. His best years were the ones with ZT beside him. When he's the man, we can never depend on him... That said, I suspect, the rumors are that he has a groin injury, he's gone...
