I know tonight's loss stings, as well it should, since we had this game in the bag and mistakes killed us (classic Dolphins football). However, like in [almost] any loss, there are positives we can take from it and move forward with.

    1. Chad Henne stepped up big time under the spotlight. He didn't have the trust of the fans, the boys upstairs, and according to ESPN's sometimes ridiculous stories, even some of his teammates. Henning cut him loose tonight, and he responded with one of the best games of his short career. If he plays like he did tonight, 9 times out of 10, we're going to win the game.

    2. Our receiving corp is not a one man army. Hartline had some great catches and huge gains, and Bess grabs anything thrown at him out of the air. Fasano can step up big at the TE position (when he's not being interfered with).

    3. Henne to Marshall is finally clicking. Henne knows where to put the ball, when to put it there, and knows for a fact Brandon will come down with it. As the season goes on, they'll only get better, and if tonight is any indication, they'll be a force.

    4. Dansby is playing up to his contract and then some. That was obvious form the first few games, but he made some plays that kept them in the game that no one else could have made. Big props to him.

Our defense was exposed tonight, but most of it was either a) being out of position (Keller's 2nd TD catch), b) blown tackling (Allen/Edwards), or c) Just plain stupid schemes. (Bell single coverage on Keller?) If we can clean that up, we should be in good shape. The success the Jets had running to the outside worries me as well, but that's for another day.

Pats come to town next week, let's build on our strengths, work on our weaknesses, and respond big.

I think the big thing for Henne tonight is the fact that he finally took some shots. We gave him the keys to the offense tonight, and let him run with it. He took shots all over the field instead of looking downfield quickly, then dumping it short if there was no sure play deeper downfield. Tonight he seemed more focused on going downfield. He made some great throws, some not so great too, but alot of really good throws, putting some nice touch passses up there, some nice lasers too, but all in all just threw it up there, trusted his WR's would make plays, and they did. Hopefully this boosts his confidence with his WR's, and we see more of this as the season rolls on.

That tackle on a dump off with the OL bearing down on him was all pro. So far so good.

Was great to see us battle back on that last drive.

The protection was outstanding overall against their pass rush. Henne consistently had plenty of time and room to throw. Henne and the OL handled it just fine. And it took a forced throw on the last play of the game before he committed his first turnover of the year.

Karlos Dansby continues to be a star.

    The awesomely positive:

Henne and Beast got married tonight

    The sadly negative:

    Ricky Williams fumbling

We'll be fine going forwards, JA is also learning that this Cornerback thingy is a bit tougher than it looks..:D

Brandon is Henne always going to hold onto the ball for a half an hour before he throws it? I'm not trying to knock the guy in a positive thread, but my brain can't take it man!

I thought he pushed the ball down the field well when he finally got rid of it, but he certainly doesn't have a quick release.

Pass protection looked solid for the most part.

    Soliai looks good at NT.

    Receivers looked really good.

    Henne had a helluva game.

Henne was great. He proved again that when he has to throw all game he can get it done. Defense really let us down tonight. Awful performance.

Still in good shape, and now we know the offense can produce. Let's just hope the defense and special teams can rebound.

Disagree, the D tightened up in the second half, the Jest are a good team and took advantage of really bad ST play that consistently gave the Jest good field position.

Ehh, they had their moments but giving up the TD one play after we took the lead killed us. Then, we couldn't stop them when it mattered at the end. I'm sorry but the offense was phenomenal tonight and we lost because the other 2 phases crapped the bed.

JA slipped, the Jets are a good enough team to capitalize on it.

Keep in mind RR, the 2010 Dolphins are playing on a whole nother level of play, any mistake is magnified.

    Welcome to big boi football.

His release is fine. he takes his time making decisions and surveying the field. he holds the ball til someone is open even if it means taking the hit. Kurt Warner did it the same way and I would say he was successful. So many people believe it can only be 1-2-3 and then the ball has to be out but if you have the protection then why be stuck on a mental clock. If it means holding it to make a play I have no problem with it as long as its not resulting in sacks. Henne has a good clock mentally, a good release and his awareness is improving every game it seems.

The was a better because they were on the field less in the second half. Then the fourth quarter came and they just didnt get it done. Langford has to catch that ball. Wake eventually wore down vs the run and they got the edge on him late in the game. Allen didnt tackle as well as we know he can. There were mistakes and missed tackles all over. I saw a lot of arm tackling, though couldnt always see jersey numbers. I know Wake was a culprit at least once. It just wasnt a crisp game defensively. We have to be A LOT better next week. There is a lot to clean up on ST and D.

And for God sakes...GIVE RONNIE the darn ball! I know he cant stay healthy but thats the chance we have to take in games like this. Ricky just fumbles too damn much. Ricky should be playing the Marion Barber role circa 2007. You give him 10-14 carries mostly in the fourth quarter with the first three quarters being mostly Ronnie. Then let Ricky punish an already tired defense. Thats the winning formula for this time share.

Yep, the D, which is very very young, learned some lessons this evening.

Will be interesting to see how they respond on MNF, as I'd say 30% of the Jest attack ate off of poor and unfundamentally sound Defensive play.

The problem is that the Jets now have a 2-0 divisional record. They play Buffalo next weekend, so we can pencil them in for a 3-0 divisional record. Meanwhile, we play the Patriots, and that game looks like a loss in the making.

So we could potentially be 2-2, with the Jets and Patriots both having the W-L and divisional tiebreaker edge on us.

That’s NOT something to be proud of. This game was a must-win.

Dobbins was also a liability all night. Usually he just struggles in coverage, tonight he struggled against the run.

I agree about RW. He looks done for anything but spot duty. Give RB the ball on more of the runs and stop taking RB out on third downs.

Brandon Marshall was amazing. Really, the receivers did a nice job. I thought after a shaky start Henne got into rhythm and was great. Did he overthrow a few balls? Yes, but he attempted 44 passes. Come on.

As far as the defense is concerned.... yuck. Dansby was impressive, and I didn't notice much action on Vontae's side of the field. I can't say anything positive about anyone else. I thought Soliai clogged the middle well on a few plays too.

Doesn’t matter. We can only do the math now. We can’t bank on things improving later, because we don’t know how they’ll play out.

In the meantime, we can bank on the Jets winning next week, so they’ll have a de facto 2 game lead on us.

No such thing as a must win game this early in the season. If we beat NE and the Jets next time then we're even again. That's if you assume the Jets beat Buffalo. I don't b/c you can never assume a a division win. Buffalo played pretty well today. And Sanchez, whom I have defended repeatedly, is still a young QB and prone to up and down games. So we don't know how it will play out but we do know that its too early for any team to be out of the race, much less one that is 2-1.

Alot more postives then negatives. We are 2-1, and yes we would love to be 3-0, but there are some things we have to get better at. We are in probably the toughest division in the NFL and even the Bills have their moments where they look pretty good despite being 0-3. I think we can compete and beat any team in the NFL but we have to play smart. Our defense looks great at times, but we also give up some big plays with our secondary....something that has been a problem for many years. I do think our d-backs are improving but Jason Allen didn't have a good game. Hopefully the coaches can break down the film and we can play a better game against the Patriots....I know we have to improve our defense on Tight Ends or Brady will kill us.

Zero sacks and missed tackles cost us this game.

That play where Dobbins ran right past the ballcarrier in the backfield made him look like Forrest Gump.

On the positive side, in the spirit of this thread, I can say:

    1) No injuries.

    2) Henne will be allowed to throw us to victory when needed.

    3) Dansby and Marshall are as advertised.

    4) It was a close game.

    5) Free Safety looks better than I could have hoped, going in with a VERY unkown factor in Chris Clemons this season.

I dont understand taking away "positives" from a loss. I never will. This league is about winning. When you win, its all good. When you lose, its all bad. This is the third year of "rebuilding". If we arent ready now, when will be ready? Next year? The year after that?

There is nothing good about last night. I am flabergasted that so many of you are "looking on the bright side". There is no bright side.

All we can do is hope to win next week. And the week after. I have zero confidence in anything about this team right now. Why? Because in the biggest game, at home, after their best practice, they gave up 31 points to a team Baltimore basically shut out.

That just sucks. I dont know any other way to honestly say it.

If the "biggest game" of the year happens in week 3, then we might as well end the season.

Get a grip. Did you think we would go 16-0?

I hate...absolutely hate the jets, but you know what..Schottenheimer called a WHALE of a game for them...running to our edges at our raw OLB's...letting Sanchez get into a groove with his TE where we obviously have trouble covering TE's right now....
..hang on, I just got a playcall from Henning...wildcat dive on 2nd and 14...

This might be too strong at this point in the season, but I agree with the general line of thinking. The problem with this loss in particular is that its a home divisional game. You absolutely cannot lose those games, at least not if you want to compete for a divisional title. Looking at this from a realistic standpoint, a 3-3 record in the AFC East is about all we can expect, provided we beat Brady and the Patriots next Monday night. Yeah, not good.

Forget the sacks, they weren't the problem. It was the lack of any type of pressure on Sanchez at all. He hit the ground ONE time all last night. I don't care who you're playing, that's not good enough.

The pass-rush was pathetic and THE single reason why they're not 3-0 right now.

Ah, yes. In three games this season on kickoffs, he's managed to kick the ball out of bounds on two seperate occassions. That's mind-numbingly awful.

It is always hard to suffer a loss particularly at the hands of the Jets , but you have to give this one to them. They played very well, they are a talented team as advertised but so are we. We simply were out coached! They were way better prepared then we were they seemed to know what was coming at them every time we tried to get creative.

I did walk away from the game feeling pretty good however. We do have a offence that can compete with the best. We moved the ball well against a very good defence, but playcalling in the red zone killed us in my view.

We know we have the tools to be a top rated defence however they are young and will make mistakes. This game was a real learning experience for them and based on the attitude thay have displayed so far they will improve on this performance I have no doubt. It also helps to put them in their place and bring some humility in to the equation we may have swelled a few heads with our comments from thje last two games.

We know our coaching staff is one of the hardest working in the league and I feel this game was a great measure for them to determine our capabilities. Henning get off the wildcat and put the ball in Henne's or Ronnie's hands!

I firmly beleive this loss at this time is perfect to make all players and coaches much better prepared to make a run at the playoffs. It did expose some weakness that needs to be addresed but I am confident they will be. Dobbins played like Rex paid him off at least Crowder doent take his sh..! Special teams is a work in progress so I expect to see some new signings/changes, Cobb's did look solid however.

    Round 1 to REXY!

    FEED THE WOLF!

    Danny
