if special teams is 1/3 of the game, why don't we put our best starters in there? i don't want to hear anything about them possible getting hurt. that's football. special teams is a big part of every game so we need to give ourselves the best chance. future starters need to prove themselves in practice, not in a real game on special teams.

its one play going all out....against guys on other teams that arent "superstars" those guys would be gunning for our starters to make a name.....theres a reason no one else does it.

not in highschool, not college, not the pros. we just need better special team players.

I am getting rather sick of the front office giving lip service to special teams. Seem like every time we sign someone out of the blue part of the reason for doing so it his ability to contribute on special teams. Yet once again this year that unit has been exposed.

Also they claim they are constantly churning the bottom of the roster to make this team better.. but yet these better plays can't cover a kick or block for a punt?

It's frustrating to say the least.

"there's a reason no one else does it" this is another bad excuse. there's a first time for everything. we could dominate if we did it and the only way it would be stopped is if opposing teams put their starters in against us. we set the trend with the wild cat and it worked. there was a reason no one else did that in the nfl but we proved that theory wrong. (even though i believe its no longer working. lol). you've got to take risks if you want different results. its a lot easier to do what i'm saying than it is to get better 2nd,3rd, and 4th string players just for special teams.

i just think we need to do whatever it takes to win. why does every nfl team use special teams to develop players that aren't starters. to me that says that every nfl team doesn't take special teams seriously. its a big part of a real game. practice and pre-season is the place for developing players.

Replace the coach of the (not so) special teams. This must be the worst I've ever seen from the Phins.

The word special doesn't belong in this conversation.. we are laughable, literally, I laughed out loud when Cobb's tripped over his own feet...

Cobbs and Hilliard had pathetic football games...I dont see their value at this point.

I played two ways at times and its tough, I cannot imagine in the pros...STs...ehh the injuries are the big thing. Case in point is Tony Dungy's comment on "Football Night in America" where they asked him about the decision to kick a FG in OT on 1st down (NO I think?). He said that in his opinion it was the right decision, because those extra plays could cause injuries.

every play can cause an injury. this is no reason why we can't play starters on STs. i played both ways (offense and defense) in school, but we're talking about special teams here! its one play at a time. if they're worried about injuries, they shouldn't play them on offense or defense either.

Clemons does this but you want your backups playing special teams. That's why we keep seeing the bottom of the roster changes. The team is good, getting much better, but not quite where it needs to be and Special Teams players better start stepping up soon.

I'm also not opposed to getting rid of the ST's coach like yesterday

Having the worst kick off guy in the league does not help. Bring back Mare as a kick off specialist!

fix special teams or parish. do what you have to do to get it done. same thing goes for the QB position, play the man that gives you the best chance of winning, a good deal of the fallout from the Dolphins' back-to-back AFC East losses at home has revolved around Chad Henne. give Pennington a shot & let him call his own plays form the field. screw Henning & his WildCat. do what is necessary to win.

there's nothing wrong with Henne. This team supports Henne. last thing we need is a QB change. Henne's been putting up good numbers. only 1 of the 3 int's from monday night was a bad decision on Henne's part. sometimes you have to give the defensive player some credit, and we all know that marshall screwed up his route on that other int. I'm with Henne 100%

    Friend RickyNeverInhaled:

    maybe you're right
would certainly be a good thing if you were right
    having said that
I would feed Pennington to the wolves & start him in game-five
if the offense doesn't improve significantly, bench him
    nothing ventured, nothing gained
    maybe you're wrong

    anyway you look @ it:
a good deal of the fallout from the Dolphins' back-to-back AFC East losses @ home has revolved around Henne & Pennington is healthy & ready to play
its time to throw caution to the wind & shake things up. no more excuses. we need to give this our best shot, now!

i appreciate everything that pennington did for this team. but the fact is that he wasn't ever gonna get better as a QB. what you saw is what you got. he played smart football and threw short passes. Henne has much more upside and he's still learning. The man has thrown 2-300+ yards in our last 2 games. The problem with this team is not Henne. Trust me! The defense has slacked up in our last 2 division games. And our Special teams has killed us.

I politely disagree with your analysis on Pennington:

    1) he is healthy
    2) he has already lead us to one championship
    3) he is the most accurate passer to have ever played the game
    4) he is extremely intelligent, knows the game & is a natural leader. he is a proven commodity & franchise quality QB
    5) he could run the offense from under center w/o Hennings involvement, virtually illiminating the offensive coordinator
    6) he probably has @ least one more good season to play @ QB. other, much older, veterans have made the SuperBowl in recent years

why not give him a shot @ fixing the offense? start him in game-five, if he does not sure up the offense immediately, bench him. no harm done

always play to win & play one game @ a time.

Because if we bench him and re-start Henne, we've now ruined him as well.

    See: Kolb, Kevin.

I don't believe you can just jump around QB to QB, it will mess with their confidence.

A good portion of the losses at home revolved around Henne? What?

The offense scored 23 pts on 2 Henne TD strikes and 352 yards in the air (with 1 int that was an all or nothing last ditch effort).

How was that game at all his fault? What about our 84 yards rushing... Or the fact the defense allowed the Jets to put up 31? We scored 23 points, mostly passing, against the Jets!

He had a bad game against the Pats, but the Jets game was one of his best for us. I'm really confused...

somethin changed in bess, his punt return's have been good, he's consciously taking the ball strait up the field.
