Why cuz he slipped?? I mean no excuses but I would rather see him chew out the entire defense front for rendering no pressure on Sanchez whatsoever....I trend that if continues into Monday could mean disaster...
Some of you guys need to take a step backward and think about what you're saying. Sanchez put up good numbers against us, yeah, but it wasn't all about what he did. It's our fault he did so well. We never made adjustments to cover Keller up the middle. Jason Allen wiffed on that tackle to let Edwards march 70 yards up the field untouched. We had Bell back in single coverage, for goodness sake. Not taking anything away from Sanchez, he played a great game. The problem was we let him by being out of position and missing key tackles. As long as we don't make mistakes, Brady shouldn't be able to have his way with us. Plus, Vontae has a pretty good history against Moss.
...thats a stretch. He was able to pickoff the two passes sent his way, yes...Moss also made him look silly few times as well. We will see.
ok thats one facet of the game... do any others matter? will our offense never be on the field? Tom Brady only put up 14 points and under 250 passing against a Jets defense we just gashed, does that not mean anything?
No, actually I took all those into consideration, but IMHO the only one of those factors that matters for us playing the Pats is the fact that our pass defense sucked against Sanchez and the Jets, whose offense is inferior to the Pats' offense. Yes, the Jets have a better defense than ours, which is why Brady didn't do well against them. But he likely will against us, because our pass defense is not good.
Whoa ......I've never seen people talk so badly about their team because of one loss. Our defense broke down on a few plays, and some of them where no thanks to a horrible sod patched field. I'm not saying the D played very well, but considering the lack of pass rush one could only expect a few big passes to slip through our secondary. Sure there were blown coverages and bad tackling, but I would also point out that their O-line was raping out D-front all game!! They called a few holding penalties, but missed a bunch. Neither of these should justify us loosing, and I don't mean to make excuses but all this "our team is second rate" crap is nonsense. We are young and will make mistakes. It's only part of the learning process. But for fans to come out and talk like our season is over and say we have no real chance this upcoming Monday is just crazy!! A lot of people on this board seem to ride the emotional wave way too much. It was a horrible loss, and I hate loosing to the Jets more than anyone but we will be ok. I think there were some good things that came out of the Jets game, for one being behind early forced Henne to let loose and not play so conservative. We were able to see that the offense is capable of making big plays down field. Second, we got Hartline in on the passing game and Henne spread the ball out pretty well. I think there is plenty of room for improvement all round, but I'm not ready to say that our team is second rate because of one close loss. I hope some of you "fans" will relax and be a little more positive to the learning experience these young players are going through
That's what is depressing. The jests outplayed us despite not out-talenting us....that's a coaching issue. This team seems to come out flat too many times when it should be fired up and seething...this was just another example...
It was a division loss, at home, on national TV. It rains on the just and the unjust, to quote the Bible. They had the same field conditions we did.
Strawman. He never said we couldn't beat them. he said the odds are lower than a lot of people want to believe. And I agree.
I disagree with this. The Jests were keeping him under control and when they did let him go he started to breakdown. If we had been able to pressure him earlier I think the game plays out differently.
I have to agree. But I would love to see if the outcome would be diff if we ran ronnie 3x up the middle when we had 2nd and goal. At end of game, spread out 4 wide and see what happens. Poor play calling at this level. We were 2-0, both road wins. All we had to do was protect our home schedule and we have 10 wins already. Not too hard to do with who we play at home. Our road schedule is unbearable. I would like to know how the nfl decides who u play at home and on road. Jets play cinn, balt, gb and miny at home while we play all those games on the road. Do you think the nfl wants the jets to make the sb? Maybe it was their reward for doing hard knocks.
Maybe our defense was worse than advertised in the first 2 weeks, maybe not. All I know is that our D did NOT play to their full capability against the Jets so don't base all of your opinions off of one game.
REALITY CHECK::::: We didn't really think that we were going to go undefeated did we?? OK so lets pull our heads out of the clouds and get back to the rest of the schedule. Don't lose faith in the team because we played our guts out and lost a game, it was an important game but it was only one game. I know it's been said over and over a few million times but it is worth repeating; the season is a marathon, not a sprint. There is a mountain of football left to play and we will improve every week. Have faith...
Wow, Chill with the negative waves Moriarty. I disagree with about half the guys in this thread. We lost that game because we came out flat and didn't cover Keller until we got back from halftime. Our Special Teams unit was awful again and on one play our CB fell down in coverage when there happened to be no Safety help over the top. We shot ourselves in the foot. That team is no better than we are, we were just sloppy. Thats it. Enough of this "Oh no We Suck Again" nonsense. One more thing, We will destroy the Pats on Monday night. Bank it.
I really don't think this is going to be a high scoring game. Tom Brady isn't the same man he once was, their running game is dismal and we all remember what we did to Brett Favre a couple of weeks back, don't we? Besides, this is Monday Night Football where the only team with a higher number of wins on Monday night besides us is the Oakland Raiders. History tells me we should win this game in a nail biter.
On a tuesday????....nothing to pity......if come Mon Night we pull off the W...then pity the Pats..... for now.....irrelevant. ....if we lose come Monday Night...I pity us!
Or maybe the offense of the Vikings didn't play to full capability against us. Who knows? I do know that we can only base our predictions of what is to come on what we've seen so far.
Its because he slipped and should have undercut Braylon's route on 3rd and 10. He had Safety help, the coverage was there. Allen ****ed up.
Watch the slip play again. He was way out of position, and even if he doesn't slip, he would have had to make an incredibly difficult ankle tackle. It was lousy coverage on his part and he was out there all by himself.
Brady, and New England has historically struggled down in Miami dont be fooled, this is going to be a good hard fought, classic AFCE matchup I just hope the zebras dont determine the outcome, and no injuries good luck phin fans, from this patshomer
Pretty arrogant to say you're "realistic" when reality hasn't even happened yet. Were those Chiefs fans "realistic" when some thought they would start out 3-0? How about those Bears fans? Were those 49ers fans "realistic" when they thought 0-3 would be their 2010 fate? None of them were, they were either optimistic or pessimistic and it just so happened things turned out in their favor. I am tired of this "I'm not pessimistic, I'm realistic" bull****... You're one or the other. Pessimistic or optimistic. No shades of gray here, black or white. And to me, it's pretty clear you're pessimistic whether you're willing to admit that or not.
Sorry, you're simply wrong. I don't much care if you agree, but that's the way it is. I am not overly pessimistic, nor am I overly optimistic. I judge things by what I think they are, not what I want them to be. Sometimes I am wrong, but I do the best I can.
Your logic is very flawed from a philosophical point of view, IMO. Clearly what I say won't do much good anyways...
My logic is just fine, its only failing to you being that it doesn't agree with your preconceived notions. And no, what you say isn't going to change my mind. I'd be pretty weak-minded if an emotion-based opinion on the internet swayed my mindset significantly.
I would have hoped at least 30 minutes was spent on YBell for his inability to cover and tackle. He was worse than JAllen imho. If I have to see YBell trying to cover a TE and trail 2 yards behind him again I may end up smashing up my TV. Bright side is I have Hernandez in my FF team.
Really? So the defense will never adjust nor will they ever get better so we should expect them to allow 500 points this year. Splendid logic
agreed. that play he was going to get burned one way or another although if he hadnt slipped at worst he wouldve had a tackle attempt and gotten his hands on him so even if he missed the tackle and it wouldve been 50/50 if he could get him, he wouldve slowed him down enough for our safeties to get there. the first touchdown was bad luck however. he had good position on that one
Like even Buffalo managing to put up 30 points against the Pats for example? I don't think NE will be an easy game, but it's winnable for sure.
Listen of course I want them to win, I am just saying if they play like they did against the Jets they are losing...plain and simple for me....this is a must win game, there I said it....Miami cannot drop 2 home division games, they simply cannot....If they lose this game, you are possibly looking at a Miami team that could very easily be 2-4 (@GB, Pitt) going into a road game at Cinny, and @ Baltimore to follow..... Like I said I am not panicking, the sky isnt falling, realistically with the teams they have to play over the next 5 games, there isnt a "gimmie" game on there, and if the play from last sunday night continues, 5 losses could come quick....this is a must win game...make it happen...and if they lose they simply arent that good this year as we thought, as good playoff caliber teams doesnt lose 2 home divisional games in a row...
Not to put too fine a point on it, but Ryan Fitzpatrick put up 30 points. We faced Trent Edwards, who has since been cut.
My point was not that we lost it was that we played like poo on defense and ST "after the bestest practice ever".
Bell is one of the most over rated guys on this team. The guy is an avg SS... nothing more nothing less.
