Well, time to put the loss behind us and focus on the Pats. I'm not going to call this a must win game but it's close to it. We started the year with 2 road victories, to lose our first two home games to division opponents in primetime would be very hard to swallow.

We know the Pats, as usual, have a dominant passing attack with Brady and guys like Moss and Welker. Now you have to add in 2 very good young TE's as well as Welker 2.0 in Julian Edelman. They are scary. They ran the ball well against Buffalo but other than that their running attack doesn't worry me too much. Key number 1 it to get pressure on Brady and make him uncomfortable. We got ZERO pressure on Mark Sanchez and he made plays, if the same happens against Brady they will put up a ton of points. Nolan needs to draw up some unique schemes to get pressure on Brady. Same goes with Special Teams, need to cover and block much better than we have.

As good as the Pats offense has been, their defense has been pretty bad, both against the pass and the run. So the key for us on offense is to keep it balanced and be aggressive through the air. Chad Henne carved up the Jets defense Sunday night and he should be able to do this same against a Pats secondary who starts two struggling, young corners. I really like the matchup of our trio of receivers against their secondary. Plenty of plays should be made. We should also be giving them a strong dose of Ronnie (mostly) and Ricky (sometimes) to balance it out. This isn't a top run defense like the Vikings and Jets. We should have room to run.

The fans the other night were the loudest and rowdiest I've heard in quite some time. That needs to be duplicated Monday night. This is our house, and we can't let another division rival come in and beat us on national tv. This time, let's do everything we talked about doing last week...feed the wolf baby!

    Go Dolphins!!!

Pats have three players uniquely suited to make plays against the Dolphins D:

    -Welker
    -Edelmen
    -Woodhead

All three are match up nightmares on the edge of the defense, Wake and Co need to tighten their game up or we will see toss sweeps and screens go for long gains time after time in this game.

Run the ball down their throats, eat time off the clock with every drive, put points on the board, and keep Brady off the field.

I definitely want to see more pass than run, but we need more run then against the Jets. Especially near the goal line. Ronnie has yet to get the ball more than 13 times in a game. I'm thinking if we win the toss we shouldn't defer. Try and let the offense get some points to take an early lead.

I expect the Patriots to score at least 24 points, so red zone offense can't be as bad as it was against the Jets. Better blocking too, can't give up a blocked punt, that also killed us, without that the Phins may have had a chance still even with settling for FGs.

Can you believe we're already heading into week 4?

This is one of those games....

Where Id be really happy to have Henne throw for a buck 85.....1 td...and have over 130 yards running combined....

The Pats offense scares me.....not just the usual culprits...but the two rook TE's Gronk and Hernandez....add them....not gonna be easy...

The Key to beating the Patsies is knock Brady on his ***!! Time and time again. He is rattled by constant pressure and HITS to his body.

    1. The defense has to play some resemblance to actual defense. They have to get stops on critical 3rd downs. Pressure. Look what Sanchez was ably to do with no pass rush. Imagine what Brady will do to us with no pass rush.

    2. While Henning did cut Henne loose, he cannot abandon the running game like he did against the Jests. And he has to stop killing drives with ill timed wildcat plays. I'm all for the wildcat but please Henning stop killing perfectly good drives with their defense on their heels by throwing in a wildcat reverse to Marshall. The wildcat is ok when used APPROPRIATELY.

Over on the jets forum we're asking each other which team we hate & fear more, the phins or the pats. This being New York (approximately), the pats get the nod. This year, though, I dunno--I don't think the pats have much of a defense and the phins ran through a pretty good jets defense. I say you do the same to the pats and also stop Brady. The pats will miss the playoffs this year and the jets and phins finish 1-2 in the east (not necessarily in that order). So you guys quit whining and enjoy the season: you have a good team out there.

Just one request: if we visit you in the playoffs, be good sports this time and keep the field covered before the game.

This game is simply on Chad Henne. He's going to have all the time in the world to throw the ball. It's that simple. The Pats are overrated.

Does that ever happen against us? We have ALWAYS been able to get to him. Even when we were 2-14 we managed to get to him.

Well, the defense needs to show up too. Henne played great on Sunday night but they still lost because the defense was terrible.

as weird as this sounds i think this is going to turn into a defensive struggle. i think both defensive coordinators are going to go all out to redeem themselves this game. i expect a field position game. i think its the second game with the pats that will turn into a high scoring affair

Sounds great on paper, and I agree but I don't need to see another Colts game either.
Plain and simple,we need to score more than them to win...:shifty:

 If they can get a few 3 and outs, keep the WC out of the equation inside the 20,and turn a few TO's into points we win this game.

That's what I've been SCREAMING for....RUN THE DAMNED BALL!!!

If we stuck to it and not give up on it, it would set up Brandon Marshall to do what we brought him here for...the catch those long deep passes for scores.

    True

If you let Tommy stay upright, and give him 3-4 seconds to find the open receiver. Brady/The Patriots will score more points than Miami. Some early, creative blitzes/hair pulling will help Miami out.

Keys to beating the Patsies, as I see it:

    1) Play 60 minutes of fundamentally sound/smart football (i.e., minimize or eliminate penalties, and turnovers). And, win TOP.

    2) Pressure Brady. It's true he plays differently after he gets hit a few times. So, get to him early, then confuse him with different blitz packages so he doesn't know where the pressure is coming from. We didn't/couldn't get to Sancheeze, and look how impressive he looked. We have to get to Brady.

    3) Definitely more emphasis on establishing and maintaining a running game. Against NY, we were put in a 14-0 hole and had to come back throwing the ball. We had a chance to ground and pound late and didn't. A 2 to 1 ratio of passing to rushing isn't a recipe for success for this team. A 2 to 1 ratio of rushing to passing is.

    4) Better play calling and clock management, especially in the red zone. Don't be cute. By now, our opponents probably think we're gonna do something cute anyway, so don't be cute and maybe we catch 'em off guard.

    5) Big plays. Momentum changers. Like a takeaway, or a big play on ST. We didn't have those against NYJ. Gotta get (and keep) the crowd in the game.

I will say this, regardless of how we attack NE, it will be interesting to see how well this team responds to a tough loss to a divisional opponent last Sunday. Being a young team, I'd like to think they're resilient. We'll just have to wait and see I suppose.

    Go Phins!

The keys to this game’s victory are the same as every other game.

Stop the opposing quarterback and have your quarterback play well.
    Win the turnover battle.

And just because we’re playing the Patriots, I’ll add that covering the short passing routes is a must.

the patriots have a lights out receiving corps with moss, welker, edelman, tate, hernandez and gronkowski all posing difficult matchups. the running game consisting of benjarvis green ellis, sammy morris and danny woodhead (fred taylor is banged up i think) is blue collar effective but not especially worrisome. the fact you have to worry about the pass threat so much is what makes them effective.

the offensive line is playing well with the exception of dan koppen. vollmer is very good at ROT. It will be hard to exploit only one weakness on that line so expect Brady to have time back there often. we will have to get a stellar performance out of our secondary at the snap to force brady to wait asnd give our defensive line time to get to him

thankfully it gets much easier when we have the ball. Wolfork is up and down a bit and blockers are getting to the second level. Brace is playing well at LDE. But RDE is a weakness IMO with Warren and Wright playing up and down depending on the game. This is a clear mismatch however with Jake facing them and one we should exploit. They can be run around to the outside and I would look to run to the left.

at linebacker rookies cunningham and spikes are making some nice plays but also glaring mistakes and should be targeted often. cunningham has had a tendency so far to give up the edge and he's on the right side. we should be able to run left outside all day long. the rest of the linebackers can make plays but arent pro bowlers by any means.

the secondary has alot of holes. ss patrick chung is playing well and mccourty is playing well but merriweather is making alot of mistakes and butler is the gift that keeps giving. i would avoid mccourty and just exploit merriweather or sanders (whoever is starting) and butler or arrington (whoever is starting). overall and as a unit this is a swiss cheese secondary and should be exploited all day.

so to summarize my attack plan would be to run left 65% of the time and throw often with a pass/ run ratio of 55/45 pass to run

we should have an easier time scoring than them. if we dont we have problems on the offense
