Whether it's mental or physical I think we can all agree that his production has suffered and he is not the same as he was last year. From a coaching point of view it really comes down to two alternatives.

    1. replace him or bench him

    -or-

    2. use him in a different way and keep him

It will be interesting to see what they do and if the subject matter is premature. I will say this; aside from being a great RB, his is also one of the best blocking RB's in the league as well.

It would be a shame to lose him both physically and sentimentally. He is indeed uniquely talented.

That's about the best anyone has ever put it. Lets hope this whole issue of replacing him is premature and he proves us all wrong.

The problem is that RB's not getting starter's carries. This isn't about hate for RW. I haven't heard anybody say he should be cut or never get a carry. What most are saying is that the starter is better and he should get more of the carries.

One thing I would do to reduce the impact of his fumbling is to not give him the ball in eithers teams red zone.

One of his fumbles occured when he tried to emulate Ronnies long run from our end zone.

I dont want to see that anymore.:pity:

And I dont want to see him attempting a pass again.:pity:

Ronnie is by far the better back and any comparisons of the two in the same breath are off the mark and dated IMO.

No finserg, it's not just about the fumbling issue. If you reread my initial post, you'll see I pointed that out along with several other factors (YPC, being tentative, etc).

This is not about hating on anyone. It's merely an open discussion about a player in the twilight of his career. And thoughts on what the FO/coaching staff should do moving forward. I will also say that while there may not be much of a difference between 120 and 199 yards, there is a HUGE difference between 3.4 and 5.4 YPC.

I think those that are seeing a less enthusiastic Ricky may be onto something. I've also noticed it. I didn't offer that up initially because I wanted to see what others thought. So, maybe this is more of mind over matter situation. If true, my hope is Sparano sees it too, and does something to coach him up, because a healthy and strong running Ricky is a critical component to the success of this team IMHO.

Also, we have to weigh the lack of production vs. ball security. If he was out there averaging 6 ypc and had 3 TD's we would probably accept the fumbles.

I'd say the same thing about Ronnie if he were coughing it up and not getting yards.

When AP was fumbling once every 54 carries (his average before this season) there were articles debating whether or not he was a liability. Of course AP was also considered either the best or second best back in the league by almost everybody. Since 2007 RWs is fumbling on a far more frequent basis and is nowhere near as productive as AP, but for a Dolphin fan to question RW it has to be b/c of hate.

The thing about ricky is, that yes, it seems he has the look of disinterest, or he's lacking in the aggressive style dept, however, with that mind, it could switch abruptly...

Someone needs to get pissed off.

We must keep a close eye on ronnie and Ricky, if were not gonna sign ronnie, then mark ingram would be the guy I would do everything possible to aquire.
