Oh man, well this is as much of a test as Jason Allen's game this week, Beast went off for 10 for 166 and a TD, but has an ax to grind with NFLN's Mayock and Sharpe and Co over their take on his last series. Sparano will have his hands full at his afternoon presser today.
Those guys on the NFL network should just shut up though. So what if Marshall was gassed? a third of our offense's yards was his doing so it's understandable why he would be.
He reminds me a lot of TO, especially in his mannerisms and in the mouth department. Great receiver, but he seems like a douche.
Marshall's wrong for that response. He was gassed, he said so himself. That's someone who pissed about not scoring and and being angry about someone else highlighting his "inadequacy" - for lack of a better word - in this instance. He's pissed at himself, I get that. Saying that isn't the right way o go about it though. If you make the play the next time they have nothing to say. No biggie, the guy missed camp time with a hip and hurt his hip in the game. It's ****ed up, but not that bad.
TO threw TWO Qbs under the bus. Marshall has never done that. He's a bit of a diva, but nothing like TO. TO blows up locker rooms, Marshall has yet to do that. I don't think him speaking out against some criticism is the end of the world either. I'd rather he keep his mouth shut and stay focused, but it really isn't a big deal. If he was out there badmouthing coaches and Henne, that'd be FAR different, but that's not what he's doing.
It's almost a relief to me when he says something like this. This is who he is. You can curb it but you're not going to change it. The way the Dolphins have kept him silent and pent up you almost think he's going to heat to a violent boil and then do something REALLY bad. This? This is nothing. They dogged the SH-T out of him in that segment. And unnecessarily to boot. They have an entire segment where they point out that you weren't good enough. Sorry, but they all deserve to be criticized for that. Not one of them has coached. None of them are Hall of Famers. A coach probably would have pointed out that after that 30 yard catch and scamper, the Dolphins probably should have given Marshall a blow instead of calling his number again on a 1st & 10 fade pattern.
Nope you dont pick fights you cant win....Marshall is in a no win situation playing the who's got the bigger one here. Just silly to put yourself in that situation calling out talking heads - no win situation. this is why.....accept it and move on. Marshall may know his own body, but he cant win picking a battle and calling out those in the industry who's job it is to analyze, critique, and offer an opinion. Fine, they said they would like to see more.....Marshall should have known better to grace their opinion with a public one of his own. Not a smart move anyway you slice it. Actions will be the answer, not a one liner comeback.
I agree with Marshall 100% on this one. Not that he "should" have said it, in this day and age where we expect players to be silent and personality-less automatons...but what he said was 100% correct.
Excellent point. I have no idea of what he is like in the locker room. I can tell you that he pissed off Denver to the point that they sat their best player in a must win game. But what I was really alluding to was how he celebrates catches on the field (the jump ball down the middle of the field where he got up laughing and shaking his head was really annoying) and saying things like he just did. Anyway, as long as a guy performs on the field, it never would stop me from wanting him on my team. He would just be my douche then.
sure you can BDH, in fact some fights should be picked, especially with an outfit that has no great love for the Dolphins anyway. Now the team can rally around Beast, let him twist in the wind, or just say nothing. They just watched him dominate a top Defense, that will build team unity.
I believe that 100%. He will likely come out with a chip on his shoulder on Monday. He will likely be highly motivated.
he didnt piss off denver he pissed off mcdaniel who was going through his little napolean phase over there. him and the chiefs todd haley both came in in a dictatorial style and it didnt go over well with a few players on each team. this is a different situation for him. he's welcomed here
Whether we win or lose something tells me Marshall will put up some big numbers on Monday. He'll be trying to take every catch to the house. Maybe we should send the guys at NFLN a box of chocolates etc?
McAdolescent? Maybe it is me, but the Dolphins have been searching for..some flavor, some identity, since the WC was the rage in 08, I like that Beast stood up for himself a bit and hopefully that rubs off on the rest of the team.
considering how poorly the patriots secondary has been playing i should hope so. they are the definition of swiss cheese back there. mccourty and chung are alright but even they make mistakes. the other two are horrendous
Though knowing Sparano, he will be hitting some tires with sledge hammers this evening and mumbling as he runs the bleachers.. He won't say anything to Beast..but he will reach for the alka seltzers..
I side with beast. What NFL Network did, I have NEVER seen...EVER. and I am addicted to that network. SO I would know.
I really don't have a problem with his comments. Like CK said, this is who he is. None of us are shocked by it. He caught 10 for 166? Hard to say a guy wasn't busting his ***. I'm sure he was tired on the final drive, he admitted so, but it wasn't because of lack of effort. But yeah, if I'm a New England DB, I probably just **** myself.
1) Its immature to get defensive (over a verbal battle)....thats different then Human Nature defending oneself (more often in physical sense). 2) A verbal tit-for-tat is pointless all that matters is actions on the field All this psycho mumbo-jumbo about getting up for the game, showing them what for, etc can be accomplished without a single word spoken. That's my view and always will be. That's what I expected when I played, and as captain, how I led my teammates that I demanded much from. I cant change that approach. Parcells is once again right on the money....Dont Complain, Dont Explain....PRODUCE and the world is yours.
I kinda side with both sides. Kinda. I think they're both right. But I love the "none of them were elite players" retort. As if that alone disqualifies an opinion. Tony Sparano or Karl Dorrell weren't elite players. Are they not qualified to critique him? But since we're checking credentials, Sterling Sharpe was most certainly an elite receiver in this league. Check the resume. 5 Pro Bowls, 3 All-Pro's in seven seasons. Twice led the league in receptions, once in yards and once in TD's. Averaged 14 TD's over his final three. Marshall's stats do not surpass his. And this is a guy that started 112 straight games before the broken neck ended his career. So he knows all about what it takes to finish games/seasons. None of this ultimately matters. But the correct response is, "They're entitled to their opinion. It's my job to shut them up."
Dan Henning also took a shot. Looks like the Dolphins are going to be hated on NFL Network! Good for us.
To me, the "none of them were elite players or coaches" comment is a valid one. They're media and they're trying to sit on their high thrones and criticize, and even condescend, to an elite player. Marshall's just saying, sorry son, the door swings both ways. I have every right to criticize you if you're going to criticize me, and quite frankly, none of you are all that impressive. The one exception is of course Sterling Sharpe who had a fantastic career. But this isn't Ted Ginn criticizing Sterling Sharpe. This isn't Kenny Britt. This is Brandon Marshall, one of the few players who is well on his way and has nearly already accomplished most of the things Sterling accomplished in his career. So he gets to look at him as an EQUAL and say, you...YOU...are going to criticize me?

Hold the phone.....Cromatie is a top five corner in league?????????? Lost me right there!!!!!! Dont explain, Dont complain....when you do, you open mouth insert foot!!!!!!!! Bad move getting worse BM....silly!
