Haha. That's the difference between Marshal and the Dolphins, and what the Jets do. When Marshall opens his mouth it's to criticize media guys that dogged him unnecessarily. When the Jets open their mouths it's to do the dogging on other teams, other players, or just to generally talk about how awesome they are and how they're going to win the Super Bowl."
IMO Marshall shouldn't have made the comment, but either way its not a big deal. I do like that he was pissed of about the segment though. I think he's one of those players that responds well to challenges.
Who here wants to defend Marshall on the Cromatie is a top 5 DB statement....come on......???? Context is king...and that whole interview would have been best served with a "no comment on that....I have 13 regular season games to change this opinion". But this..........bad move...only made worse by the Cromatie ranking sillyness.
What does PFF have to say about Cromartie BDH? Keep in mind the week before he shut down Randy Moss. The only Wr who has gotten over on him is Boldin, but I'm not 100% that he was always on Boldin.
I finally watched the NFL Network video. It does seem a bit odd that they simply chose to pick on Marshall at that point. Like he was the only reason we lost. I don't recall them ever doing something like that w/ another player .... nothing on ESPN, CBS, FOX either? It makes you wonder why they did that? As much as I would've liked Marshall to not respond the way he did in a perfect world - I can't really blame him on this. Who else did they call out in the NFL for "doggin' it" this week? Even if you agree w/ the premise that Marshall was "doggin' it" is he the only star player that did that this week, or any other week? Weird! Anyhow, what I saw there is Henne overthrew the first-down fade. It happens, and I hope he learns from it, as he had an otherwise great game. They were doggin' Marshall there and I'm like, he never even had a chance to make a play on the ball. On fourth down, it does appear Henne could have went his way, and he might have had a better shot at the ball then Fasano did ultimately. But again - that's on Henne, our very talented but still very green QB. I'll tell you this much, when the situation comes up again, I'm guessing you'll see Marshall involved!
The NFL Network segment was a hit job. An unfair one at that. And not very well done. Marshall was just saying "who the **** are they?"
i really like NFLN i like rich eisen and i also like mike mayock, but this was a little far fetched, but thanks anyways, NE will probably not like that very much that the media just gave the beast bulletin material for a national tv game, which is also a freakin MUST win game for us....thank you again
Pads...come on.....Cromartie is top 5 DB in the league?? Come on.... Revis, Asomugha, Woodson, Finnegan, Bailey, Samuel, D. Robinson, L. Hall, Greer long before I even begin....Rodgers-Cromartie yes.....only Cromatie No!!!
Ehh, I agree with Muck. I have no problems with him defending himself, but there were much better ways to do it. I also don't think this is a big deal and agree that it will light a fire inside of BM. So, this is kind of a win for us.
Cromartie has been made a clown by 2 of the 3 big time WR's he has faced. Boldin and B-Marsh owned him.
http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=1&statisticPositionCategory=DEFENSIVE_BACK&season=2010&seasonType=REG thru 3 games he is #88 including Safeties (ranked by Tackles or Assists)...still way out of the top 5 if only CBs....and not even if only AFC....now AFCE....he squeezes in...LOL
But the thing is, Marshall's words would suggest he was looking down at them. That he doesn't consider any of them equals. I can understand him being defensive. That's a natural reaction. And I'm certain he'd have chosen his words differently if he knew the kind of player Sharpe was. What I find interesting is that Sharpe is getting the most heat, yet he was the one who went the easiest on Marshall. He's a big fan of Marshall and even said he's chalking this one up to it being his first game in the South Florida conditions. All in all it doesn't really matter. Just gives us something to talk about. Maybe lights a(n even bigger) fire under his ***. Pity Darius Butler.
Put him on Darius Butlers side and make Butler tackle him. Then the following day, we'll send Butler a get well card.
the play to fasano at the end was the same play he scored the earlier touchdown on. namely get to the end zone turn around and box out the defender. one problem on that play was roberto wallace ran his route to close to fasano and it caused a logjam of defenders in that general area. also henne should have thrown it lower and more to the right. still a very difficult throw since the jets defense played it well but it could have beeen executed better
Marshall sounds like he was looking down on all of them but no more than they were looking down on him. What got me about that segment was the condescension. It was like they deigned to come down from their high pedestals in order to rebuke a puppy for a bad mess, then give him praise and a treat and say "I'm sure you'll do better next time..." And seriously, who the **** are they? Notice when Michael Irvin broached the subject with Brandon Marshall, Marshall not only took it a lot better but he talked about it in earnest. This was a hit job. They didn't deserve Marshall's respect. They didn't earn it. So they didn't get it.
Fasano also should have driven the defenders to the back of the endzone, then worked his way back to goalline to get better position. Instead he stopped as soon as he entered and turned around, given the defenders a chance to get to the pass.
Sterling Sharp hates us for some reason this season. He's picked us to lose every game, including week one at Buffalo.
Braylon gets flagged for taunting defenders. He's a grade A prick. He's showing that over and over again. Marshall will have to do some work to be in his league.
that whole segment was bs. all they talked about was how great a game sanchez had, and nothing about how henne shredded the "best" defense in the league, yes i know who won, the only thing they had to say about miami was about marshall loafing at the end.
To a point, I like this as it shows character. You can bet he is going to go out there and prove it...he seems like that type of person. The extent to which you disrespect (which some may argue he did here) is wrong though.
OK this is old news. The guy hasnt done anything to warrant consideration to be on tv and defend himself. He only got 166 yards! LOl the guy did his job. If he was gassed at the end let him learn. But he did his job. They only went to Marshall once in the last series
I'm glad they angered the south beach Beast in time for Monday. Did they report that at the half he had to get an IV and came out and did what he did against a good Jets defense? I do hope he gets used to the heat/humidity quick, not that it was a huge problem, but still.
NFL analysts get paid to give their opinions, even if we don't agree with them. Next week they will call Marshall the best in the league. I don't believe that care about half the stuff they say. NFL receivers get paid to catch balls and help their team win games, that's it. Marshall would be better to simply disagree without putting down the talking heads. I think Marshall is one of the better receivers in the league, but he does have a history being a jerk, and I can't see how that won't hurt the team at some point in the future. Sterling Sharpe was a top 5 receiver in his day and has accomplished as much as if not more than Marshall. Remember when Marshall had that huge playoff game? I don't. It sounds like the "beast" is a little too sensitive. Who cares what dudes on the NFL network say? Brandon Marshall does. I say grow up and play ball.
Sterling Sharpe was a beast before his injury. If Marshall is the beast, Sterling was the Balrog. That said, to the winner goes the spoils.
I refuse to watch the NFL network...maybe when they get rid of the clowns (Deion Sanders, Jamie Dukes. Michael Irvin, etc.) I will watch them again.
