Beautiful. All that's missing is the tattered remains of Tom Brady strewn about the field.

Looks like they finished about 6:30am this morning. About 14 hours.

It looks like they did this out in Oakland, too.
Their field was pretty rough in the patched areas. Huge chunks and divots were flying everywhere when guys were cutting.

Do you think JA is going to wear longer cleats this week? :)

Regardless of whether you think the field is an issue for play or not. It really shows that Ross is trying to put a quality product on TV, especially for MNF.

It gives me hope he won't drive this plane into the ground with Bill Parcells leaving now

That's just it...it doesn't have time to root or establish. Which begs the question...how do they secure it? Do they spike it down somehow? Would love to know how they do it.

I'd also like to know what the black stuff that went down under the sod is.

Seeing as how Ross could afford it, I'm gonna go with: Caviar.

No, it's not dirt (or poop). Whatever it is went down like some kind of underlayment.

Any former (or current) field maintenance people in the house?

I think he bought some fresh anti-matter. Al Davis has some hook ups because it's the stuff that keeps him alive and able to draft the devastating combo of JaMarcus Russell and Darius Heyward-Bey.

They should look into just leaving most of the grass for the Marlins season, with dirt just around the bases. The Blue Jays have that, but they have an artificial surface so it's easier. I'm sure you can do it with grass though, especially in the off-season.

JUST a guess, but I'd bet that black stuff is some kind of rubberized surface to provide a tactified surface for the grass turf to stick to? You can't just lay turf on dirt and - literally - over night expect roots to hold. It's impossible. But some sort of surface that can "lock" the turf in place is the next best thing.

I'm sure after the game, they'll rip it all up, and do the real thing. They have - what - three weeks after this game? That's plenty.

Oh, can the Marlins just take the 2011 season off? Or at least, just quit on 8/1?

You can't have been a Dolphin fan for long. Every Dolphin fan knows that the field explicitly targets us and only us. It KNOWS......

They should have invested in field turf for the infield a long time ago.
