agree 1000 percent. You can't say the dolphins aren't consistent though. They continue to find ways to lose games. They are absolutely awful. They need to get rid of the following: 1. special teams coach 2. linebacker #50 3. Jason Allen still sucks 4. the baseball field
The Patriots STs coach, who obviously had them well prepared, was a coach for Miami for 2 yrs under Saban when he was here. Scott O'Brien.
This performance has set me over the edge. If he isn't fired I'm gonna consider this season Dead on Arrival.
That's the part that irritates me the most. We saw it get exploited last week, and still did nothing to prevent it this week. If Bonamego isn't gone by 10am, something is seriously wrong with this coaching staff all the way around if they're going to let this continue.
I think you have to start putting starters on ST's. It's an important phase of the game that's been blatantly overlooked by this coaching staff. Take these 13 days off and use every second to correct this. If you need to put Bell, Davis, Dansby, whoever in there, do it. It's pathetic that the same mistakes are being made week in and week out. For a team that claims to value players more who can play special teams, it's downright laughable.
One of the main talking points that we've heard over and over since this regime took control is how much they value special teams. How they're going to turn over every rock and look in every hole to fill the special teams unit with the right guys. We've heard that if you're not a starter and you want to make the team, you better play some special teams. We've heard, not seen, but HEARD so much emphasis put on special teams. And what has been the results? A whole lot of nothing. In 2008, we had the 30th ranked Special Teams unit in the league. In 2009 we were ranked 10th. See links below for where I got those numbers. And while 10th in 2009 sounds good, it's highly skewed by Ted Ginn's two TDs against the Jets. And now we look at this season, and specifically last night. We don't have a kick return game. All that emphasis on special teams and no emphasis on trying to get points out of it. We've seen both the Jets and the Pats gash us for big gains proving our kick coverage unit is horrible. We've seen the Jets and Pats expose our punt coverage by blocking punts in back to back weeks, and then the Pats expose us again by blocking a FG. Where is the emphasis on special teams? And if they really are putting an emphasis on it, then someone needs to be fired because they obviously don't know what the hell they're doing. *http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcon...ries/020809dnspospecialteamslede.38f0fd2.html *http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/021410dnspospecialteams.3df2052.html
Starters are on special teams, I saw Allen whiff. Bell can't tackle on defense, how is he going to tackle on Special teams?
Well it's 10:00 and nothing happened. Sparano better do it soon. He could have a revolt on his hands.
Hillard is said to be our ace, and he is getting blown up each game, hell John Conner knocked him off his feet three times last week. Kick return 101 is stay in your lanes, we never do that, I'm shocked if we stop a team before the 30. That is coaching! Punt blocking on the line, the same dam spot three times in 2 games the guy comes in and blocks a punt, the Patriots knew it (Cheng even said it after the game), other teams know it, why doesn't our coach know it?? Special teams major problem is coaching, not the players or the new players. The patriots turned over their roster over the last two weeks and the new guys are making blocks and tackles. It's coaching!
amazing but thats the same comparison i saw. i thought i was watching virginia tech and we were duke or someone. worst performance on special teams i have ever seen and i saw the dolphins win two superbowls
What did carpenter do wrong besides not seeing the ball on the TD pass by Sanchez last week (by the way it was still good coverage and a heck of a pass) Carpenter is the least off our problems on Special teams.
This is what happens when you get rid of guys like Charlie Anderson and replace them with guys like Bobby Carpenter who seem to bring NOTHING to the table. At least Anderson made a play every now and then. Is there anyone here who thinks Carpenter is a good player? He can't block people on special teams, he can't tackle anyone on special teams, he can't cover tight ends. What CAN he do?
Try looking at it this way, we added 2 special teams players (Dobbins and Carpenter) this year that were very good on the former teams, last year we added Walden and a few others that were good special teams players. Yet they stink here. Why??? COACHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The same mistakes are made over and over, the Pats knew they could block our kicks by watching game tapes. If other teams pick up on this, why can't our special teams coaches see it also. It's not the players, its the coaching.
Carpenter played a key role in both the KO Return for a TD and the blocked punt. He also sucks in coverage. I wouldn't be surprised to see him released. Anyone is better than him at this point.
he is our new oliviadoti.sporano won't fire him atleast not during the season,he is too loyal to the guy.bona has been here way too long already as the st unit has not been decent the 3 years he has been here and has actually gotten worse. i was gonna throw something else along the lines that tony doesn't have the cajones to fire him during season but that would just be my disgust of watching last nites game still lingering. err..as if on cue lol bonamego fired!!
