I like Henne but with Flacco, this year he had one of the worst games of his career that he then followed up with one of the best he's ever played. If Henne does that, things are different in how fans view him IMO.
no wait, BENCH THIGGY HE IS NO MARINO, PAT WHITE WAS OUR MARINO, OUR FO ARE IDIOTS FOR RELEASING HIM!!!!!! LOOK HOW GOOD HES DOING FOR THE ROYALS FARM SYSTEM, FIRE SPARANO, FIRE IRELAND, NO WONDER PARCELLS LEFT
Henne is who he is 17 games that excuse is getting old (how many games is enough) and dont give me the sanchez comparision anymore. henne had around 45 college games a year to learn under penny and now 17 games as a started and still cant read a defense. And for all you sanchez comparision people he had 12 college games started right away didnt have the luxury of learning under penny and about 20 nfl games and is better that henne with less experience henne is who he is AVERAGE he cannot put a team on his back and win a game for ya example last week had a chance to win a game for us, he played decent until the last 2 drives with the game on the line what happened "choke" i dont mind henne but I just dont expect him to win a game for us - he has to play to just not make mistakes
All QB's are gonna have bad games. Henne will improve, give him more time he has only a few years under his belt.
Except that he has put this team on his back and won games. He did it last year, against the Pats. Remember that? He was also pretty clutch down the stretch against the Jets in last year's game. His problem is consistency. And I'll point out again that Sanchez' first ever 4th quarter come from behind win was last week against us. Which should tell you something about him.
So what'd you say about Drew Brees after 17 games? Because Henne is playing a lot better than he did.
Must've been a second half comeback. My bad. I thought we had a one point lead in the 4th quarter, but were down by a point. Still though, point remains the same. It was Sanchez' first credited comeback win in the second half. That is pretty amazing.
Meh, not to take anything away from Sanchez as he has played very well this year, but wake me up when he wins the game on the final drive, like Henne has done 3 times already.
Absolutely!!! Hit the nail on the head right there. This fan base will NEVER allow another QB to succeed in this town. Everyone just constantly over criticizes every single throw. Oh well Dan would have hit Marshall deep there. Dan wouldnt have thrown that INT. Well guess what, Dan isnt here anymore. He's RETIRED. Its time to get over it.
thread blows henne will be the starter pennington's arm is a ghost game 5 orca 5 there will be blood in the water competition is the elixir henne has made his bones let him compete
thank you, very well stated. you're a scholar & a gentleman Friend Killerphins however it is what it is & game four was the crucible. just hope the season doesn't turn out sacrificed to the Cult of Next-Coming of Dan Marino. want the best chance @ winnings in 2010? start Pennington
No, it wasn't. It may have been the turning point, the pivot point, the fulcrum if you will, but it was not "the crucible". A crucible is a refractory container used for metal, glass, and pigment production as well as a number of modern laboratory processes, which can withstand temperatures high enough to melt or otherwise alter its contents. Sorry. Couldn't resist.
Friend StLouisFinFan: needn't of bothered with just one part of three possible definitions for the word. had to have been ingenuousness on your part, unfortunate. crucible: 1) a severe test 2) a place or situation in which concentrated forces interact to cause or influence change or development 3) from (Med. Latin) crucibulum, a 15th century earthen pot used in melting metals good to know you didn't disagree with the post on principle, but thought you had a vocabulary correction to make. I find your response both interesting & amusing. thank you for the input, however misguided sometimes the discretion of a pm is more appropriate & ultimately, a more positive experience for all concerned
I've posted since training camp, game four would be the crucible in the very difficult 2010 schedule & it has proven to be exactly exactly that... the crucible things have to change immediately, beginning with the QB in game five or the season is lost & another opportunity wasted sorry, I just couldn't resist
bench Henne, play Pennington & fix special teams. we still have the season & potential to make the play-offs ahead of us just do it!
Stop typing in crazy gay fonts!!! Please!! . And your posts are just nonsense...if every team benched it's starting QB because of one or two bad games there would never be any franchise QB's. Henne is just that, he just needs a little more time. I don't think that any other young QB's Flacco, Sanchez, Ryan...and so on are leaps and bounds ahead of Henne. If anything some of the more successful younger QB's also have had a better supporting crew. Starting Pennington will do nothing to benefit the future of the franchise. Henne needs the game time, and without on field experience he will not get any better. There is an old saying..."we learn from our mistakes".....and I really don't think he has made all that many of them up until the Pats game. I understand that Penny has the proven ability to win, but he is here as a last resort for the Dolphins. The only way Penny gets any starts this season is if the Fins decide all together that Henne is not our guy anymore.....and I highly doubt thats how they are looking at him after one horrible game. Especially one that was headed by one of the ugliest ST performance ever! The sky is not falling, pigs aren't flying and Henne isn't going anywhere
Friend DHPVW: homophobic? 1) ever heard of freedom of speech, expression? its the American way & what forums are made of... 2) I simply have a different philosophy: I play to win. the franchise has been rebuilt & we should be contending. we can only play one game & one season @ a time. it is important to compete now, in 2010. the pieces are in place, lets use them. 3) Pennington is undeniably a franchise quality QB & is healthy, sitting on the bench. he has already lead us to one championship & I believe he could do it again. simply put: Pennington is the Man of the Hour to navigate the troubled NFL waters of 2010. 4) have to ask yourself a simple question: do you want to win games or develop the Cult of Marino? my answer to the same question is win games. I would go with the Proven Bull. and you, you would squander a season on the hope that the Henne may develop into something special? forget about it. losing is not the answer. 5) I have no horse in this race. I posted early on that Henne could be the future of the franchise, however, he would have to step up big time. I stated during training camp that game-four would be the crucible in the 2010 season. well it has come & gone & now the obvious decision should be made to play the best QB available to win games & his name is Chad Pennington. think about it
Honestly, I don't want to see Penny in another game ever again. I would rather fail miserably this year with Henne and KNOW that he is not a franchise QB than waffle through another season under Penny. People seem to forget that he went through one of the easiest schedules with a dominant running team during his successful season. Then against the Ravens he could not move the ball. At all. And that didn't really get any better the next year when our schedule got harder. Pennington is more experienced, but that doesn't mean he is better. I can just imagine Revis salivating over weakly thrown ducks.
No, not homophobic.....you are taking the word I used to literally. More or less meant that your posts not only hurt my eyes, but also look like a 14 year old kid rolling on Ecstasy typed them I respect your opinion, I just think it would do nothing to benefit our team. More or less it would just set us back another two years
decimate the interior of an elite offenisve line ? C'MON MAN !!! Last time I checked, which was a few minutes ago, no one has picked up two pieces of that " elite " offensive line who were decimated. If it was so elite, please tell me why, our RG from last year and our center are still out of work ? Smiley had one team interested, Jacksonville and that was because they had NO ONE at the guard position. This wildcat crap has been figured out long ago, time to put it to bed as much as Henning used it. Although I was happy to only see it once in the NE game. Its a quaterback driven league these days and Henne needs all the work he can get. All this crap about teams daring us to pass, hell, down field for Henne is 7-8 yards. Even if the D has 4 guys on the LOS there is another 4-5 guys within 4 yards of the LOS, they know we are not going deep. Those 4-5 guys protect the short pass and come up on the run. Thats what is obvious my friend. We won 7 games last year, how elite could the Oline have been with that record ? Oh, we were high in stats in the running game, big deal. Still only won 7 games and if you depend solely on a running game then you better be ready to win only 7 or 8 games a year, forever. Minn has perhaps the best RB in the league and one of the better rated Olines, see how they would do if they just concentrated on the run. Yeah, Pederson would get a million yards but he would not cross the white goal line as much as if they had a passing game. Guess thats why they brought Moss back eh ? Thats why we brought Marshal in, go to the heavy passing game, looooong passing game, of which we have been void of. This Oline is fine, at times Henne has enough time to knit a sweater back there. We switch RBs in and out, as long as we do not and one does not get into the rythem of the game, what you see is what you are going to get, end of story. And I do not care about last year, they were still dazzling with the wildcat, the wildcat has been figured out 16 times already, drop the wildcat bs. Until we get the ball downfield, consistently, then there will always be 8-9 guys around the LOS, pick any Oline on the planet earth and you will not consistently run good against something like that.
Pennington was pretty terrible through his first four games last year. Or have you forgotten that already?
