    Here are the reasons I think it's very possible that we trade Ronnie Brown during the bye week, and before the trade deadline.

    I don't think he will be back next year unless they Franchise him (very unlikely)
    They used a 2nd round pick from this coming draft on BMarshall and they like to re-coupe any draft picks they trade away.
    Ronnie Brown is prob the only player that could garner a 2nd to 3rd round pick and there are at least 2 teams that need a running back (Eagles and Packers)
    Ricky is a capable starting running back and could share carries with Hilliard and Cobbs.
    It seems they are moving to less running and more passing.

    I expect us to draft a running back and Ricky will probably be back one more year to share carries.

    Any thoughts on a possible trade of Ronnie Brown?

    I hope so...the guy has lost a step, still has that shuffle, doesnt hit the hole with power....

    running back is a big question mark to me going into the offseason....followed by TE....If you are going to spend money on a RB, I am eyeing D'Angelo Williams....he is a free agent...

    If he's looking for his big payday this offseason, he better look elsewhere because he won't be getting paid in Miami. Its always something with this guy.

    Unfortunately, getting a 2nd-round pick in exchange for an injury prone, soon to be 30-year old tailback, looking for a payday seems like extremely wishful-thinking on your part.

    Yeah, that'd be just our luck...trade RB to the Pack right before we have to play them only to watch him run all over us...ugh! Sorry, couldn't resist.

    In all seriousness, I say no. I think any chance this team has of salvaging it's season depends heavily on a healthy RB.

    JMHO...

    look again. They look to be inquiring about Lynch, and Bills are trying to get a 2nd round pick for him so I really don't think it's that impossible that someone gives us a 2nd or 3rd rounder for Ronnie.

    He has 14 games left on his contract. He's almost 30, and finished 1 season healthy in his entire career. We wouldn't get more than a 4th for him and even then I might be being generous, and I'd be adamantly opposed to trading him.

    I like Ronnie as a person but I doubt anyone would give anything of value for him as a football player... not to mention the fact that he has looked like poo all season long.

    RB is such an easy position to fill in a draft. Why would a team give up anything of value for Brown? I wouldn't. That doesn't mean I think he is a bad back, but you can find one in the draft pretty easily.

    If we could actually fenagle a 2nd or 3rd round pick out of someone (yes I know it's unlikely) I'd definitely consider it and I've been one that's been against trading Ronnie.

    It may be time to try though. Not because Brown is bad but he does have injury history and you have to try and get something out of aging players. I also do think the criticism of Ronnie's vision leeping him from being a true dynamic back is a legit one.

    When you watch Ricky Williams you can see the difference between the two.
    Ricky can find a lane anywhere if one is available where Ronnie will just put his head down and try to ram his way through a wall.

    Henning is in his late 100s, its going to happen.

    I think we will draft a RB next year, that and interior OL should be a priority

    I don't see where folks are saying Ronnie Brown isn't doing anything. Take away the blocked punt, the blocked field goal, the kick off return, and the 3 interceptions (none of which were Brown's fault) and you'll see a Fins offense that was moving the ball with ease. Brown had several good carries, despite the OL struggling, and I think folks are being way too critical at this point.

    Or they have opened up for him, or a cut back lane opens up etc... They have two different running stlyes. Run the one that is working best against any particular D.

    Ronnie and Ricky's per game stats first 3 games:

    Game one: RB 13 carries 65 yards 5.0 average, RW 18 carries 62 yards 3.4 average

    Game two: RB 13 carries 80 yards 6.3 average, RW 10 carries 30 yards 3.0 average

    Game three RB 11 carries 54 yards 4.9 average, RW 7 carries 28 yards 4.0 average

    Ronnie was clearly the better back for the first three games. One bad game and trade him? Give up on the season? This must be a Dolphins message board...

    I'm the one that started this thread, and I'm not bringing up a trade possibility because of last game but just looking at the facts that I clearly stated. I'm very happy with Ronnie but I have a feeling he is not going to be with us next year, and I'm asking an opinion on if people think the FO may pull off a trade during the bye week and before the deadline since there are multiple teams in need of a running back. Eagles, Packers now because Seattle just got Lynch for a 4th and a conditional pick.

    Marshawn Lynch is only 24 and already has had two 1,000 yard seasons. Miami would get much less for Brown.

    Ronnie isn't destroying defenses right now, but he's worth more than 3rd round pick to us, which is the absolute BEST we could hope to get for him. (more likely a 4th)

    Think about it - you're basically suggesting we mail in our season (by trading him away) in order to get a (maybe) 3rd round pick. You're also assuming that the gaining team would be able to hammer out a long-term contract with Ronnie in advance of the trade...

    What did we do with those 3rd round picks last several drafts:
    * John Jerry
    * Patrick Turner
    * Kendall Langford
    * Lorenzo Booker

    Are we a John Jerry or Patrick Turner away from contending? If not, no reason to mail away one of our best skill-position players. So yeah, Ronnie won't be here next year unless we bring him back, but is it worth mailing in our season now for that extra pick? I don't think so.

    Is it really that silly to suggest our season is over?

    At this point, can you even envision a scenario where we beat the Jets or Patriots on the road in December (or in the latter case - January)?

    Yeah, neither can I (how could you after watching this team for the past decade?), which leaves us at 2-4 in the division. Yeah, the Jets went to the playoffs last year with the very same divisional record, but guess what -- they needed a perfect storm to even qualify.

    Losing two divisional home games in back-to-back weeks against our biggest competition is a virtual death knell. I'm not convinced its that much of a stretch to conclude that our postseason hopes went up in smoke last night.

    Yes I can. We've lost 2 games out of 16. 2 games with fixable ST meltdowns that cost us the games. There is a lot of football left. Henne will be better at the end of the year than he is now.

    Ronnie touches the ball maybe 20 times a game if he's lucky. Trading Ronnie and giving 10 more of those carries to Ricky and letting Cobbs and Hilliard shared the remaining carries I don't think is really that much of a downgrade. I like Ronnie but I don't think he'll be here next year, and if that's the case knowing this FO it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they traded him to say the Packers for similar compensation as Lynch. By the way the Pack are trying to win this year, and can afford to use a 3rd or 4th rounder on a 1 year player. Marshawn Lynch didn't sign a multi-year deal with the Seahawks by the way. I don't think there would be such a drop off as people think w/ Ricky taking majority of his carries and the fact that it looks like we are going to be passing more this year.

    The Eagles have LeShean McCoy
    McCoy...273 yards...5.5 yard avg
    Brown...226 yards...4.7 yard avg

    McCoy...4 tds
    Brown...1 td

    McCoy...22 years old
    Brown...28 years old

    McCoy ...23 receptions
    Brown....7 receptions

    McCoy....172 receiving yards
    Brown....31 receiving yards

    I dont think there is a chance on GOD'S GREEN EARTH
    THAT the eagles would trade for Brown.

    Yes.

    2001 Pats started 1-3. They won the SB.

    I'm not saying we will win the SB, but teams have started off worse than 2-2 and finished just fine. We're only 2-2, don't forget. If the Jets or Patriots lose more games than we do by the end of the year, our head-to-head matchups we have already lost won't matter.

    ronnie looked good in the first quarter, had some pop in his step, even caught a nice pass out of the backfield, then all of a sudden the whole philosophy of offense changed, Henning does'nt know how to use ronnie, or how to establish a gound game, and mentality.

    As much as I love him, I think Dolphins would seriously consider a good draft pick trade for Ronnie, depending how the season is shaping up. If not, he'll get franchised for 1 more year.

    I don't see this organization giving him a long term deal at his age and injury history.

    I was drinking the kool-aid during the draft and thought the Dolphins were lookin at CJ Spiller if he fell to #12.

    There's some good backs coming out next year.

    I concur with most of the sentiments described by you all, but I want to address a different angle. That angle concerns job security. If Sparano thinks he is on the hotseat (presumably he might and Bona was a way to patch a part of the wound), then he is not going to giftwrap draft picks for the new regime coming in. He would rather use Ronnie to help aid in an attempt to secure his job and then let the next regime (if there is one) find a suitor or let him depart.

    Human nature my friends, you watch yourself to a certain extent.

    I sure as heck aint comfortable riding a RB who dances between holes instead of hitting holes hard or a RB that has ZERO top end speed.
