I applaud this post. Reason being, most younger fans on these boards refuse to belittle our precious Dolphins. Seems to me they fear of being labled a "non-die hard fan" if they choose to bash our team when their play actually calls for it.

People get belittled for ranting. Whether it be bashing or praising.

I think people need to get over their martyrdom complex. We lost 2 in a row it happens. People disagree with you and get emotional, it happens. You get emotional and say stupid stuff it happens. Just shake it off and move on, there are greater ****ing tragedies in the world.

You know, for the younger fans like Aqua and Alen1, I've really grown to respect you guys for putting up with this team since you were kids.. At least veterans like myself were around for Marino when he was peaking, and remember the days where the Dolphins were fighting for playoff positioning year after year.. You guys haven't had much to cheer for and still support this team.. It isn't easy being a Dolphin fan.... Downright sucks at times.

It's only a game... Life goes on with or without football.. The days of investing all my emotions in to a sport that lets me down every year, are dwindling.. Save for 2008's magical run, it's been nothing but stress since Shula left...

And that is saying a lot because even under Shula we had our hearts broken nearly every year as well..

Exactly. My only thing to add is, I don't care if you have a negative or positive take on what's going on, just back it up intelligently. It should be that way, not for good of the team, but for good of this site.

Agreed - But sometimes you need 24 hours to vent.. Especially after getting creamed and embarrassed on national TV.

Absolutely. But when the rhetoric begins to flow when we're only 2-0, it makes it harder to stomach the venting directly after a loss.

I think a good percentage of the venting is related to our upcoming schedule...

2-2 facing the Lions, Cleveland and some other patsy team looks a lot better than blowing two games at home then @GB, @Baltimore, Steelers and @Cincy....

That looks downright impossible given the drubbing we receiving on Monday night.

I guess. As I said though, a lot of the venting started when we were 2-0.

I still view our drubbing being because of special teams. We are in the process of fixing that. We are also getting some starters back. I guess because it was very clearly special teams that cost us the game, I really don't think we'll fair too badly coming up. I'm 100% confident, the Pats game was the rare performance, while our first three games were more the rule. Could I be wrong? Sure. But I haven't seen anything to prove it yet.

It gets so tiring reading people whine how everyone is being negative. Makes me wonder how long some of the fans here have been watching football.
There is reason to be negative. I am too old to be looking at the world through aqua-and-organge colored glasses: I judge this team by what I see and what I've learned through the years, not what I wish or hope they would be or do.
When this team plays a complete games, then I will have reason to be positive.

GB and Cincy have looked just as bad, if not worse, than us.

I think what gets lost in all this, is that there are plenty of teams in the same situation as us. Green Bay fans and Bengal fans have just as much to be angry about as Dolphin fans.

For once we totally agree. I'll throw in a little bad play calling in but definitely the special teams put a major bullet in this game. You eliminate those mistakes and it is an even game IMO. Giving away 14 points in the first two minutes of the 2nd half is devastating. However we should have had a bigger lead in the first half. That is where I go back to the bad calls on offense.

Geez, you think you got it bad? Some of us are nearly twice your age and have had to sit through numerous teams that were good, but not good enough when it mattered. After awhile you almost get resigned to watching rivals have their turn in the sun while we continue losing big games at home to them because we seem to always be a step behind. :sigh:

What is tiresome to me is the continued bashing by some of the negative-outlook posters. If it was a couple of times, or in the special teams thread, stuff that was warranted - I could understand. But instead you have people fighting multiple-page battles trying to convince everyone else the team sucks.

    Why?

Is your goal, as a fan, to convince other fans to no longer like a player or the team? If that's not your goal, why do you argue the point for pages in multiple threads? If your goal is venting, then do it with your post in the thread and move on. Arguing that point only serves to create division and anger/hate. For some here, it's like the two wins at the beginning of the season didn't happen - why so short-sighted? My discussion has been to try and make the negative fans think positive as there are a lot of positives to take away from each game - i'm trying to change the perception so hopefully the attitude will change. I'm trying to be uplifting, here. Instead we get slammed and called homers or fanboys. If you want to be negative, don't drag me into it as well.

I'm going to take a quick sabbatical and come back after the next Dolphins win as the overall attitude in here brings me down. I've tried to help those who are down about the team but there is just no telling some people; they don't want to hear it.

For the sake of thephins.com and the sanity of us all, I hope the venting of those unhappy with the Dolphins ends soon.

What you call bashing is simply people who see the team's situation different from you. Seeing things different from you isn't a character flaw.

My point is that times were different. There was not a flood of opinions, a bunch of bloggers & posters who felt they knew the game because they played or coached pop warner. Read the original post and tell me that the same "football geniuses" asking for Henne, Henning & Sparano's head wouldn't be spewing what I wrote. Feel free to have an opinion on a player, coach or team but back it up with fact, otherwise don't get offended when I call it stupid.

Fact: The Phins performance sucked Monday
Opinion: Henne sucked, it was his fault, he should be benched

Opinion: The Phins suck they will have a losing record this year
Fact: There are 16 games in a season. They are 1 game out of 1st place in the division and with the exception of 1 team (KC!) are 1 game from being tied with every other leader in the AFC (tie breakers aside). The season has to play out to determine where the coaching staff and team stand.

    Opinion: Henning sucks
Fact: He's forgotten more about football than probably anyone on this board. His play calling has been suspect at times and he needs to make better adjustments during the game.

Opinion: Ownership should can Sparano, Henning & bench Henne at this time
Fact: This is the opinion of someone who needs a double dose of Zanax and is better suited watching Lacrosse. Frankly at this point it's a stupid opinion.

I'm Greyson Winfield and I approve this message.

But if you are praising, you can call other names, even in the title of thread. If you are attacked while "bashing" (actually, just telling the truth) and you call the people defending losing "losers", you will get a warning and threatened with being banned. Thats a fact.

Its a fact that the person who wants our coaches held accountable need a "double dose of Zanax (sic)"?

I love how those of you who sing endless praises of this team call one guys opinions "an opinion" and your opinion of them "a fact". And you are far from the only one who does it. And thats a fact.

Let me clarify that I meant fire them at this time.

And absolutely there has to be accountability. They fired the ST coach which had to be done. Fire the HC now for what? A season that hasn't played out and is only 4 games old on a 2-2 team (fact)? If anyone thinks that the team would be better doing this then it is their opinion. Its my opinion that many people are shortsighted and giving up on the season now. I don't know if it will get better or worse. I do know that the following is a fact.

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d813ec2f0&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true

Did I offend someone with my "opinion/fact" that Henning has more football knowledge than them? If that offended anyone on the board then prove me wrong and become a OC in the NFL. Show me a post that I "praised" this staff.

finyank has been critical but he actually posts his reasons in an intelligent manner providing reasons for his negative view. that's a far cry from some posters whose only contribution seems to be we suck because we lost two games. thats not an intelligent argument or reason. thats just reactionary. not saying this is you. ive read posts over the years of yours that were quite good. i know you've been going back and forth lately so its just one liners now but there are other posters who are just *****ing because we lost and are throwing up their hands saying our season is done with nothing backing it up. which to people like me, who see a team who is .500, one game back from 1st, at the 4 week mark, seems absurd. hell this would be like surrendering to the japanese after pearl harbor. we got twelve games to go to make up one game. i see no reason why we cant do it. none. you're right, you have a right to express yourself but we have the right to answer

It's a bit disingenuous to say that, given that we lost two games in a row, both at home, to teams in our own division, and have some very, very tough road games ahead of us in the coming weeks. Those two games were key to our season. If we had won them, we would have a cushion that we are really going to need, given our schedule.

I agree. If this was 2-2 after week 4 with the 2008 schedule we'd surely be just fine. Our schedule is brutal. I'm having a super hard time trying to figure out how the team I just watched the past two weeks is going to come out victorious against Green Bay and Pittsburgh. Two teams I might add they haven't beaten in some time. There's nothing wrong with optimistic outlooks but people have a right to look at it a different way too. We'll hope for the best but we're not going to pretend everything is just fine.

    THIS is the true wisdom.

In a season or forty, there will be good and bad. What counts to me in the context of this community is that we treat each other with respect - that we respect each others' opinions.

And, ironically, it seems that's the first thing to fly out the window in the frustration of bad times.

I always have an opinion; but unlike others, I don't need you to agree with me...I don't need you to post to my liking. Others here - too many - do.

If I think you're wrong, I might argue with you, or I might choose not to. But either way, whether we argue abstractly or heatedly, I will never tell you that you shouldn't think the way you do or post your opinion.

A lot of people miss the point of the community, which is to freely exchange opinions and ideas, and some of them seek to beat down others for thinking the way they do, God forbid posting as they do.

Of course, there are posts which seem just absolutely ridiculous to me; but when I see those, I remember that the degree of ridiculousness with which I perceive anything is 100% relative, and I either temper my response or I don't respond at all.

    Or...I have a lil' fun widdit. :wink2:

Reality is we're not as good as we thought we were and we still have alot of work to do, nothing more, nothing less. Rather wait it out at this point and see what happens the rest of the season.
