yes... Was a big named prospect because he was faster than the flash apparently. They just forgot that other talent a receiver needs... What's it called again?? Oh yeah, catching. Hence becoming a DB that's afraid to hit
Speaking of Sam Shields he had a pick 6 with GB during the preseason... The greatest part about his time at the U was when he converted to DB. Even though he still wasn't any good.
UM-FSU sellout near No matter what happens Saturday, the house will be rocking. According to the University of Miami, the UM-FSU game is 500 tickets away from being a sellout -- and that's without the tarp that sometimes covers extra seats. The UM media guide lists capacity for Sun Life Stadium as 75,540. That's pretty exciting, if you're a Hurricanes or Seminoles fan. No home game in the Randy Shannon era has drawn more fans than the crowd expected Saturday. You just know it's going to be a wild environment to go along with what has become a wild game in recent years. The lowest price for the available club-seat tickets was $295 as of about 5 p.m. Maybe some big-time spenders will eat up the rest of the tickets. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-800-Go-Canes http://miamiherald.typepad.com/umiami/2010/10/um-fsu-sellout-near.html
I agree Benjamin is overrated...but he's more inconsistent than anything. It seems like hit or miss with him.
Benjamin plays the WR position like a punt returner. He has YAC ability but problem is he goes in reverse so much. When it comes to catching, he has a ton of work to do. Btw, what the hell happened to Aldarius Johnson? Talk about a guy who fell off the face of the earth after a promising freshman season.
He had so much talent. I think injuries caught up to him. And then he just fell behind. Another guy who has a lot of talent but is a bonehead is Tommy Streeter.
Never saw the explosion from him. But I still thought he would end up being a much better player. Damn shame.
Yep, never had great explosion but he had body control and actually pretty good hands. Then he had the ankle injury that kept him out and hobbled him for a while and ever since then, he was never the same. I will say though, the coaching staff hasn't developed these players the right way. I know you and I have harped on it but player development is so underrated and these guys aren't getting it. The only WR that has lived up to his potential has been Leonard Hankerson and that's only because, IMO, he spent a lot of time working with Clayton. What's funny is, Hankerson was probably the one who most thought wouldn't pan out if you had to pick between him, Byrd and Johnson.
Seriously, the player development has been downright poor with the team. Part of me wants to see Randy replaced. But it could also be much worse.
The thing is, Randy is still a relatively young coach. And while he should be improved, a lot of the mistakes he made a couple of years ago are still affecting this team. The team was at a disadvantage recruiting when Shannon took over, and still is. I think a lot of the 'top rated' stuff was oversold, as Shannon had to go after highly regarded recruits, just to build momentum for the program.
I'm expecting a dominant performance at home this Saturday. This will be a "yes, we are for real" game for us. Either that or we're in some trouble.
Bobby Bowden picks Hurricanes to beat Florida State on Saturday night Bobby Bowden likes what he sees from Florida State so far this season, especially on defense. But he does not believe the team he coached for 34 seasons will beat Miami on Saturday at Sun Life Stadium. "I feel like Miami (has the edge) because they are playing in Miami," Bowden said Friday before a signing for his recently published book. "If it was in Tallahassee, I'd say Florida State. But the thing with Miami is - is the quarterback going to play steady enough?" Hurricanes quarterback Jacory Harris has thrown eight interceptions, tied for the fifth most in the Football Bowl Subdivision. FSU's defense is the reason Bowden believes the Seminoles are headed for a turnaround after finishing 7-6 in three of Bowden's final four seasons, including 2009. The 23rd ranked Seminoles are 4-1, 2-0 in the ACC. No. 13 Miami is 3-1, 1-0. Bowden said much of the credit for the improved defense should go to new coordinator Mark Stoops. Bowden cited Stoops' philosophy, which is based on zone principles, and his ability to bring out potential in young players. "If they can keep up the defense, watch out," Bowden said. Bowden was 14-21 against Miami as the head coach at Florida State. The rivalry blossomed into arguably the best in the country during that time with one of the two teams playing for the national championship 14 times between from 1983 through 2002. Saturday's 8 p.m. game on ABC will mark the 22nd time both teams are ranked at kickoff. When asked for his memory of the series, Bowden said: "I think of two great teams playing and I think of how many champions came out of this game. I think of the years where if we kicked a field goal we would have won the national championship and if we miss it they win." One of those was 1991, when Gerry Thomas missed a 34-yard field goal with 29 seconds remaining, giving Miami a 17-16 victory. It was the first of FSU's heartbreaking "Wide Right" games (along with one "Wide Left"). Bowden offered one of his most memorable quotes following the 1991 game. "They're going to chisel on my tombstone 'He played Miami,' " Bowden said at the time. He is proud but frustrated that he maintained the rivalry - before the schools joined the ACC - while other teams declined to play Miami. "Florida dropped them," Bowden said Friday. "Penn State dropped them. Notre Dame dropped them." Bowden vowed not to hover around the program this season and will keep his word Saturday, heading home to Tallahassee after a 10:30 a.m. book signing in Vero Beach. But, he said, he will be more interested in this game than any other he has watched this season. "This one is has a little bit more significance because both programs can get a gauge on how far they have come," he said. "Both programs are on their way back to the top. Whoever wins this one can get a little ahead." http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports...state-961702.html?cxtype=rss_hurricanes_23833
Cool he picked The though, an honest pick. In other news - UM-FSU a sellout CORAL GABLES — No. 13 Miami’s game against No. 23 Florida on Saturday night is officially a sellout, according to UM officials. “We have to thank our fans,” ’Canes AD Kirby Hocutt said in a statement. “Our fans have shown tremendous support for The U, and we are proud to have a vibrant, loud gameday atmosphere on full display in front of a national viewing audience on ABC.” According to UM, a limited amount of seats in Club Liv at Sun Life Stadium remain and can be purchased on Ticketmaster.com. It’s the first sellout for a ‘Canes game at Sun Life Stadium since UM started playing its games there in 2008. In the only previous meeting (2008) at Sun Life Stadium, 65,768 fans were in attendance. The largest crowd ever for a Miami and Florida State game was 84,437 in 2005. http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...umweblog+(UM+Hurricanes+|+Sun-Sentinel+Blogs)
If they didnt, then that would have made back to back weeks Gameday would have avoided the #1 team in the nation's biggest games on their schedule....Are you really telling me if the shoe was on the other foot you would be ok with that?
Not too big of a matchup, gotta play Duke today. I hope this game goes better than the one last week, in the sense that our team will actually show up to play. On ESPN3 @ 1pm. Always about The
7-3 Miami in the 2nd. And Duke scored first on a fumble on the kickoff. Man, this should be 21-3 Miami, at least. This is NOT Miami Hurricanes football.
What is this, 3-4 consecutive games where Jacory Harris is completing less than 40% of his passes? I don't think I've ever witnessed a stretch like that in my life. I have a hard time getting excited about beating a program that shouldn't even exist (football, not basketball).... that bad taste from last week is still in my mouth. I'd actually prefer to see this team lose 4-5 more games than turn it around and lose in a ****ty bowl again. Shannon's yearly goal = bowl game = 7-5 and he's safe = we're ****ed.
Duke has turned the ball over 6 times and we're up 28-13. That's sad. The U is very far from being "back"
