i'm more interested in finishing strong then starting strong. 10 new starters almost guarantees you're not going to start strong but it doenst mean you wont finish strong. the last twelve weeks are more important to me then the first four. the first four you're just getting your feet underneath you

If we finish strong, but miss the playoffs because of those two games, finishing strong won't have meant much in the long run.

such is life. i'm not going to sweat it. our schedule is pretty cake the second half of the season. if we're 5-3 or 4-4 at the midway point i dont see why we cant go 6-2 down the stretch with our schedule. then we'll see if 11-5 or 10-6 gets us in

I've seen it too many times with this team. Too many times we've lost a game or two early on that at the time everyone said "Oh, it's early, it's just one game," but then at the end of the season it was the game that cost us the playoffs, or home field, or the division. We need to win our home games and we need especially to win home division games.

no doubt. the playoffs would be nice but if we finish the season at 10-6 and miss the playoffs we still have improved substantially over last season. plus we'll have every young player with another year under their belt. 2011 is the year for lofty expectations. this year i'm just looking for improvement. i think we get in so I'm not sweating it but if we come close and just miss i'm not going ballistic

The thing for me is, I don't WANT Tony Sparano fired, I want him to succeed and build something that will last. But I know in the current NFL, owners are not patient with coaches. If Tony takes this team to the playoffs, I am pretty sure he's safe and will be able to continue to build the team in a consistent manner, but if he doesn't...I don't know how Ross will react, but I know the time that coaches are given to build a contender is getting shorter and shorter.

The reality is we lost two big football games that we can't get back. Complaining about it and making everyone miserable in the process isn't going to bring those games back and turn them into wins. I think part of the problem with the fan base is that expectations heighten exponentially every year. Stop and take a real perspective of the football team before the season instead of believing each and every season we are going to the SB. I didn't have those expectations with this team at all. I'm sure everyone remembers my JT rants. I wanted young defensive players on this team for a reason. I knew we would take our lumps and I truly took mine over that point of view. I tend to gripe about things that continue to happen without a fix. Right now I have several things that really bug me about the Dolphins and I will hammer away at them when the time comes. The QB at this point is not one of them and neither is the defense. We all have our frustrations young and old and the separation of the fans can be discouraging. Let's move on and be fair about the whole deal. What has happened in the last two weeks is water under the bridge. No use making yourself nuts over something that is beyond our control. Some of us are ready to wear bags on our heads and some are not but I don't think it is that crucial. We have a lot of football left folks. Some will be good and some will be bad. Relax and enjoy the bye week.

if we lose to the packers, then i'll be upset. we should destory that team. no offensive line, no secondary and no running game and we're coming off abye week and two straight losses. to me thats the game you freak on if we lose. there is no excuse to lose that one. too many glaring holes on that team

Respect the Post...somebody should put this in the TSA rules, or whatever its called.

I dont know what it means, but I feel like I know some of you folks pretty well, lol, and I absolutely love it when those folks get pissed, rant, and go off..I laugh because I feel their pain, and I know that it comes from their passion they have for their team..

LOL.....recently the game threads are the best Nob,lol, you gotta check em out, great funny stuff in there.....and its all good, I understand most of the time..

    The funniest thing I heard all week was when Prez said that he was laughing at SICK because he watched Sick write that thread before the game, where he was saying to us very graciously, for us to stay together even if we lose and dont get crazy...meanwhile, the day after, Sick was goin off on the team, LOL..{.AHHH MAN iam laughin while I type here}

I just butchered that, but that shi% was funny.

    Prez, where is that post?

I agree with this. It would be great if TS could prove that he has the abilityt to make this team a winner. My opinion is that he does not and that he is way over his head. But he has 12 more games to prove me wrong. And not making the playoffs, IMO, should not be an option if he wants to keep his job. As a matter of fact, he needs to make the playoffs and win a playoff game....

The good news is we have an owner who has no excessive loyalty to Sparano and is very sensitive to the fan experience. Losing at home bums out the "home" fans and SR isnt going to accept that.

So IMO, the writing in on the wall for TS....

Why is talking about the losses making everyone miserable? Why are the two losses not the reason people are miserable? I never understand that with "you people".

I will not temper my expectations...but thanks for the offer. In the NFL, one of the reasons its the best sport, is you can turn teams around quickly. Carolina went from 1-15 to a SB quickly...The Cardinals turned it around, i think in their coaches first or second year...Besides, there is no guarantee that there is going to be football next year, so I'll continue to hope they get it done this year.

Oh, so you will hammer away at your pet peeves when the time comes but the rest of us should just simmer down and relax and adjust our expectations? And your JT rants, they did not make everyone miserable? Or is it ok for you to make people miserable, just not ok for anyone else?

These two losses are not "water under the bridge". They will count until week 17, when the playoffs are decided. The MNF game that we blew to the Jets when we led by 3 TDs in the fourth quarter, thats water under the bridge. Losing our last two games to Minny and NE with the division on the line some years ago, thats water under the bridge. This is water still very much on the road.

As for making ourselves nuts over something we can't control, why would anyone be a fan of any team? "WE" cant control any of it. Its all --JT, Sparano, OC, STs--beyond our control. We know that we cant control it. But because we are fans of the team, we will comment on it with passion. Is that alright with you?

Oh, okay, so we should "relax and enjoy the bye week". What if posting about the Fins is relaxing and how we enjoy the bye week? I dont know you well, KP, but there were rumors around that you had standards for the team. I think those that judged you harshly for that should lighten up. I see no high standards at all from you. You seem willing to take whatever comes out of the Fins....And that is certainly your right. I do think preaching to the rest of us how to think and act is stretching the limits of your authority though.

But do you want this whole thing maintained if continuity means we win 9 games a year?

Either Tony can successfully coach or he cant. If he can, it should manifest itself in wins/losses. If he can't, he should be replaced by someone who can.

We can still do that. Win our next three games. I think that would speak volumes to the league and us fans.

But too many fans seem to be saying, "dont kick on the door sreaming our time is now; Send a pastel card announcing that our time is next season".

yeah thats what I meant. I root for 9 wins a season. I am against us going to the playoffs. Way to spin it. Sparano is fine, the team is fine. Like I said, your expectations for the beginning of the season were out of line, not the team. The team is progressing fine. We are better than we were last year and thats all that matters for now. Anyone who had SuperBowl aspirations was setting themselves up for disappointment. SuperBowl hopes..fine, expecting it ...ridiculous, at least this year. We will make the playoffs, the team has showed the ability to dominate on defense and move the ball on offense. The special teams is being addressed. It will all click soon. So long as we stay injury free. Next year you can have your SuperBowl aspirations. We still need one more year of talent addition to get the players that will put us over the top. You may not have the patience, but me and many others do. Hopefully Ross does too

see this is what i mean. three in a row? 2 out of 3 is realistic. 3 out of 3 is setting the bar too high. can it be done? yes. Realistic? no

spin it as you will, its time to contend
the NFL is all about winning
the team is built, we have the pieces
if we don't make the post season
expect another head coach in 2011
& a number of other changes too
    meanwhile
there is time & games to play, things change
we have the potential to turn things around
& every motivation to do exactly that...

we're just a game & a win away from the road to redemption

I know he lost to Minny twice last year w/Favre as their QB. Could you imagine if the Packers fan base was like ours? They'd want Rodgers strung up for that here...

I was so angry losing our last two games at home after the momentum we had gathered, but to think that the youngest defense in the league was just supposed to get it it done without looking at the process of progression, and where this particular team started from, individually and collectively, is a knee jerk reaction no?.

I just think that when you have 8, 9 new starters on defense, the youth factor, and a 2nd year QB, expectations must be tempered somewhat, which is something that I did during the offseason, only after looking at the team from every possible angle, and trying to find a reasonable plane of progression, considering all variables..Iam not sure its fair to the team to rip them at this point, especially considering I dont think they came out flat or lacked effort...

That being said, one more offseason, one more draft, one more year of playing the game with each other, my expectations will rise..

The first sentence in bold captures the essence of "you people" as well as anything I have seen. We arent 1-15 and that is all that matters to you guys. Thats the standard. "We can lose the rest of our games, but Goddamn it, we arent 1-15. Way to go coach." I dont understand that and I will never understand it. Ever.

Your second sentence is declarative yet undefined. "We will make the playoffs". I like the expectation, although I think you are faking. I am quite certain if we dont make the playoffs, you will default back to "well, we aren't 1-15 and thats all that matters". I am as sure of that as you are that we will make the playoffs.

The STs are being addressed. My only question is.....WTH took so long? Were our STs not bad enough in 08? I think they were. I think this question begs to be answered...I would love to hear some thoughts on it.

If TS assesses they weren't "that bad" I question his ability to assess this team.

If TS assesses he addressed them, I question his ability to adequately fix problems on this team.

Either way, IMO, if I am the owner, I think I would can TS based on STs alone. But lets see IF this latest move fixes it, and if Mr Ross will tolerate it being screwed up...STILL!

Nice try man but you aren't going to bait me into your irrational little suicidal world. I'm just flattered that you spent your time analyzing me as a Dolphin fan. You have done such an excellent job at not only bashing the organization but "us people" as you like to say. You are a man among boys and you should be recognized as a true hero. You should go to other teams boards and teach them how to be proud fans of their football teams as well. You could be a role model on sports websites all over the internet and display your internal wisdom to the world. I am so blessed to be in the midst of such a prophet, a proverbial gridiron god so to speak but wait there are twelve games to go and I just might be too irrational and way too quick to make this assumption. You could be wrong and the fantasy could go away. Here is hoping for your sake the Dolphins don't redeem themselves and crush your dream.

There is something fundamentally wrong with how you project a team relative to a rebuilding case, I cant quite put my finger on it, but I think that's where line's are being crossed....did you talk like this in 2008 when you saw the play of the special teams, or are you looking in hindsight and saying ""WTF took them so long?

You say that ''you think you would can TS based on special teams, but lets see if this latest move fixes it''..

That statement tells me that your not taking into account anything else when evaluating your coach...

How bout the FACT that TS is 20 and 16 in his first 3 years coming off one of the biggest rebuilding project's ever..I say ''ever'', cause when you have Cleo Lemon handing off to Samkon Gado while Marty Booker is out in route, while offensive lineman were acting like a sieve, than ''ever'' is appropo in this case..

If there is ever a standard for which we hold something or someone accountable, wins and losses and coaches should be how we judge..

You would fire a first time, passionate, caring head coach, who was hand picked by a legend, a coach who has a 20 and 16 record so far, coming off a 1 and 15, because his special teams sucked this year?...

They really did suck, and imo was directly responsible for 2 losses, however, to not look at what his strength's are, and the big picture here, lets just say I disagree, pretty vehemently.
