I am still wondering what Ross will do, I don't think he will have the patience Wayne had. Its been widely noted that he is personal friends with Peterson. I imagine Peterson would be interested in Parcell's job. If Peterson took control he would probably bring in his own choices so he wouldn't be in Parcell's shadow.

It takes a few years to build a team! Rome wasnt built in a day. lets face it, a couple years ago when we won the division we had a very favorable/easy schedule. The division wasnt as tough because the Jets werent quite that good yet and the pats didnt have Brady.

I wasnt surprised to see Miami regress the next year and this year from 11-5. It takes time to bring in talent and to develop, our team isnt that talented yet, still very young, one of the youngest teams.

The Texans took a while to get over the hump and they still may not make the playoffs this year, but thus far they show alot of promise, as well do the Cheifs this year. So sometimes it takes a few years to bring in talent and to let the talent develop, especially when you start from scratch which is pretty much what Sparano has done.

I don't think we are as bad off as all of that. We do have holes to fill but we are making great progress. If you remember several weeks ago I posted a thread about firing the conditioning coaches because I was concerned about all of the injuries. Back then, most of the starters who are hurt today were even hurt back then and I was already pushing the panic button.

Injuries, mistakes, and holes to be filled are all part of the game. I hope that Ross understands this and keeps TS right where he is. I think that moving TUNA to the talent consulting position was a great move. Little by little I think we will be OK, but it is very frustrating to watch when we disappoint.

I have been a fan for four solid decades and in that time I have always seen this team bounce back well. The season is still young, and I think we'll be OK.

I'd rather see you a solid fan for four decades..... but I guess your way will do. :tongue2:

I might harass you from time to time, but anyone who is old enough to be a fan for 4 decades and showcase a signature of "Revis and Butthead" with Rex's tooth blacked out has my respect.

Never smart to do business with friends..... and rightfully so. Hopefully Ross is smart enough to keep the 2 separate and not allow friendships to influence his checkbook.

I dont buy into the 3 yr championship idea. We need to see results after yrs three. We'll figure it out soon enough.

I already see a constant drive for success. I see players working hard Sparano is a great coach IMO. We still need more play makers

I would just like to see Tony be the master of his own ship.

Now that BP is gone, I want to see what Tony has. He's made
a good first move, and I anticipate more.

I don't think he's going to be fired, but the pressure will be on if he doesn't win,
    and I think that's deserved.

If we have another losing or bad season we'll be getting a new Jeff. He and Sparano are a combo package. We know thus far, Ross is all about image so Ireland is already on thin ice with his PR blunders or did we all forget?

I am curious on what you are basing this opinion?

If he is a great coach, how do rate Wannstedt? Not a trick question, just curious.

coaching a previously 1-15 into the playoffs? :dunno:

coaching an inferior team to victory over the Pats & Brady last season? :dunno:

taking one of the youngest teams in the league and making them believers? :dunno:

The problem is Sparano is suppose to be part of the solution
not point a finger to his coaches saying,"get it done"

Now you can understand why Henning does what he wants
when he wants with out questions .

Our defensive coordinator last season did what he wanted when he wanted

We have a head coach that is a figure head cheerleader
that has screwed up so many game decisions it borders on comical.

How many times did we let tight ends destroy us the past few seasons? Now special teams continues it's epic meltdown...Where is Sparano with any solutions?

We continue to call certain plays that we all can agree are totally absurd...Where is Sparano...Jersey fist pumping on the sidelines if we manage not to get a field goal blocked.

Sorry but Sparano has showed nothing in the way of an NFL coach. He was brought here because of his Dallas connections and will leave with all his Dallas connections when the season is over

Three types of Coaches in the NFL

    COACHES THAT MAKE THINGS HAPPEN

    COACHES THAT WATCH WHATS HAPPENING

COACHES THAT WONDER WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED...GUESS WHO SPARANO IS??????

Ok...as many people have attested here, our schedule in 08 was pretty lame. Those arent people like me...they are people who claim that we really werent that good in 08, so we should have expected regression in 09. But whatever.

Your points get more and more "ambiguous" as you go.
First one, ok, straight up, I'll give Tony kudos for that.

Last year...is beating the Patriots the only thing worth noting? How about losing to the non playoff teams...Steelers, Titans, Texans, Bills and Falcons?

Your third point is laughable. It reminds me of Hope and Change. Believers? Who are believers? What does that get me? If we are tied at the end of the year with another team for a playoff spot, will we get extra credit for being young and believing? What does "believing" even mean?

I believe the Earth is round. I believe that Freedom is worth fighting for. I believe when I get home, I'll consume a nice bottle of French wine....How does believing become a credit for Sparano?

I think Carl Peterson is the 10,000 pound gorilla in the room. If he didnt have Ross's ear...I would say Sparano will be here this and next season barring a huge collapse. Because he does.....I think Ross will make a move unless we win at least 10 games....

Its just a weird situation, and not your normal run of the mill, does he deserve to stay or doesnt he.

2-2, Sparano best start in Miami, and 1 game off of the AFCE lead, and of course Sparano will be fired at the end of the season.

I will admit to some issues with HC Sparano, mainly not thinking highly of continuity, but we are the most competitive the Phins Franchise has been since the early 00's.

3 yrs ago looking at the ashes of a 1-15 season, I expected a 3 yr process to bring us back to the top, I'm not sure if we are there yet as maybe the 08 season skewed the vision for the team, with 12 games to go and getting healthy, it is far to early for this sort of thread imo.

I honestly think that 11-5 season was a double edged sword.

It brought a lot of spirits up, and got people optimistic, but it also made the task of revamping this team a lot more difficult. So rather than gradually do better each season due to high draft selections, we had to take what we can get, and face a harder schedule while trying to live up to the expectations.

What I'm saying is a lot of us were expecting a 5-10 season, then maybe an 8-8 season, and then this season the 11-5. Each year gradually playing "better" teams, as our team built through the draft.

All things considered, I think we're turning out very well, but that 11-5 season in my opinion hurt their plan more than it helped.

How do you fix a problem that you aren't allowed to remove when the problem doesn't do his job? You aren't allowed to fire him and coaching someone who is known to be Mr. Marshmellow ain't gonna happen. I would submit to you the problem ain't the coach but the player and if two opposing ST coaches can see that, yet our HC can't, well then ???????????????

I see wanny as a coach that had a pretty good team starting out. I agreed we needed a running game so i was ok with the steep price we paid for Ricky.

The difference here is Wanny took over a playoff caliber team. Sparano took on 1-15 team. Wanny ran it into the ground, I see progress now. Do we need more play makers sure (vets may help) but if it works we have a contending team for yrs.

We arent like all the other new coaches putting all the stock in yr 3. We realalize our mistakes and fix em. Sparano is a straight shooter IMO

Wanny tried to take a team and needed to prove he was as good as the rest. Sparano IMO decides i am the best.

Soooo, you're saying that we don't have the talent to win consistently in this league and that we're missing some players/talent and as a result Tony will be fired for not acquiring the needed talent ?? I don't get it. If Tony is fired it will be because he can't coach...that, so far, hasn't been the case ??

idk about canning tony at the end of the year. depends on how the season goes. if they have a terrible record, why? horrible losses and nothing is improving. what if they have a handful of heartbreakers and its just things we can fix. if it just keep going downhill from here then we have to think about things....
