Only five weeks into the season there are no more undefeated teams as the last remaining team the KC chiefs loss to the Colts. Somewhere today the likes of Bob Griese, Don Shula and company will be popping the cork on the champagne bottles celebrating the fact the Dolphins are still the only undefeated team in Nfl history. Congrats to the Colts.

And the Lions will have to wait to pop theirs. The Panthers, Bills, and vaunted 49ers are currently sitting at 0-4.

Don Shula sold his soul for the perfect season. The only way the Dolphins will ever win another Super Bowl is for a team to duplicate the 72 Dolphins feat and break the curse!

Or simply have the year be 1973/74 and follow-up that perfect season of '72/73 with another SuperBowl....

we won back to back.....perfect season vs Skins....then the following season vs. Vikings.:hi5:

No jinx...we have been back to the SB since then as well. We just need to execute better.

I hate this sentiment so much. The 1972 Dolphins DO NOT celebrate every year with champagne. They are proud of their accomplishment, but they don't drink champagne every year. Jim Mandich talks about this every year. Its just not true.

Its amazing how many Dolphin fans really think the 72 Dolphins actually drink champagne to celebrate themselves!

Ugh. To me, the yearly ritual of Mercury and Shula "popping the cork" is one of the most annoying things in sports.

Go away already. IMHO, of course. :wink2:

Don "I'm a Jets fan but can't admit because I'm a national columnist" Banks perpetuates the myth here.

Mercury Morris will be relevant long after you're pushing daisies Don.

That's because there's been over 40 Superbowls since it started.

    Only one undefeated team.

    Funny.

I've always thought Jet fans were by far the most annoying thing in all of sports.
