Isn't this the same injury Long suffered in the preseason, when the starters shouldn't have even been on the field?

He's been playing well even though he has not been 100%. I havnt got a problem resting him if it means he plays against the Pack. I wouldnt worry about it.

And it is a good idea to get Murtha some reps in the meantime.

Oddly enough, the guy who has to step up now is Mickey Shuler, if we have to go to two Te sets he has to be good or it will be a long day.

What knee or leg was injured in the preseason game? And what was the newest injury and when did it occur?

I think it is. That was ridiculous the starters even playing at that time.

Despite the fact that you know, it wasn't all that uncommon and teams like the Patriots and Cowboys did exactly the same thing. :tantrum:

Odd, one does not appear to know whether there was a leg injury or not during the preseason, as for the newest issue, is that a seperate issue?

Do you know? and if so, how?

Well, we are fine on the Oline, maybe weak at Tackle, but McQuistan stepped in at G and did fine, he supposedly has the ability to play T as well.

As for Murtha, great athlete, not to sure about what sort of Football player he is.

It is the same knee, the left one, correct?

Just because the Pats and Boys did the same thing doesn't make it the smart thing to do. IMO. :tantrum:

Apparently, you don't know either but responded earlier as if you did.

It doesn't make it the "smart" thing to do, but it's clearly an accepted NFL practice, and the reaction to it was one of the most asinine things I've seen posted on a sports message board.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't the preseason knee injury, mild sprain as I recall, like in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of the final preseason game?

As I recall, prior to this, at least with the Dolphins, we'd pull our starters, at least our key starters, in that last game by the end of the 1st quarter. I was under the impression, perhaps incorrectly, that the common NFL practice in this regard was to remove starters early in the last preseason game.

Jake Long is the best LT in the league...and he isnt even fully healthy.
Let him rest, its probably precautionary.

I think you are right on all of that, generally speaking they get pulled early. But it's hardly shockingly rare to keep them out there if they look like they need it.

Also, in that game, even though their offense had been struggling, the Cowboys starters didn't play at all.

When I went back and read Armando's report on that game, it seems even more convincing to me that the injury Long suffered in that game and the current knee problem are connected. IMO, the only thing asinine was having Long still playing in the 2nd qtr, if at all. It happened when Henne was still in the game, and Pennington entered the game at 11:18 of the 2nd qtr, so Long hurt his knee on the possession before that.

The Cowboys had 5 preseason games this year because they were in the Hall of Fame game. Check their starters in the 4th game.

The rest doesn't seem to have done any good, check the standings :shifty:.

Jake has played fine thus far, but apparently not at 100%. I see no problem with giving him a few days off to rest the knee, or go fishing. Long's knee injury was a freakish occurrence that could happen on any play, practice, drill, etc so IMO criticizing the decision to play the 1s in Dallas is a major case of playing the result.

If my memory serves me, this is the same right knee injury that Long suffered when a DE got past Carey on the outside and Carey's helmet hit Long in that knee as the pocket collapsed. It is my hope that Long will recover 100% and that this will not be prolonged and nagging injury for Jake. Long is a super star in every respect of the word.

This is bad for many reasons; the most obvious is the jury and the not so obvious is the fact that Carey has been a little slow on his feet this year and is getting beat to the outside from time to time. For a big man Carey has been very agile, I hope age is not catching him. The last thing we need is another hole to fill.
