I agree. It just looks like gimmicks to sell tickets. What a shame. Gimmicks are for selling class A baseball tickets, I wouldnt' think you'd need them for the NFL. Win and they will come. It's that simple.

    That's not why I said I'd want 50.

I'd take him over some of those artists though, but def not all.

People type-cast him as only about weed, but Redman has always been ridiculously underrated.

Good question bro....I think it was because he went on the radio to quick, changed his style too much after his 1st album......His 1st album like Big, Nas, and Wu was just pure gold, they lacked something after that....well Big died but....

Honeslty though the guy is a pure lyrical genius when it comes to it though, top 5 to me....

I think when it comes to putting out consistent and quality music, there are few people with the catalog Jay-z has.

Most of the stuff that I really like from him was never on the radio. His production and choice of beats is always spot on. Love that jazz and classical feeling a lot of his earlier stuff has.

Jay has admitted to dumbing down his lyrics for more of a broad fan base. Albeit not like a lot of these current clowns, jay was able to be a mix of good lyrically and simple.

Well, I don't respect all music but I don't go around saying too much about the ones I can't stand. Other than saying I can't stand it. It does not make me ignorant though. It makes me have my own opinion of it.

BTW, I can't stand Country Music. Or Rap. hip hop, and a few others. What's wrong with that?

But the person whom you called ignorant, to me, did not deserve it at all.

Shouldn't have a need to explain yourself since I was never responding to you. I responded to two posters, the first:

Who I will maintain is ignorant.

    The second:

Who I was reactionary towards, and wrong, and can see that it was my bad on that "ignorance" tag.

But no mistake on the first tag, that dude is ignorant.

I explained because I stepped in, and wanted to. I said I don't respect all music. Some of it is total crap to me and again, that's not being ignorant. That's having an opinion. Just like someone saying there is no such thing as a good rapper is an opinion.

My opinions are formed from listening to it, not because of the persons doing it though. I happen to think Rap sucks. Does that make me ignorant?

I guess you don't understand the complete meaning of ignorant, which in the context of how I am using it means "lacking of knowledge."

I have come to the conclusion that the user who I called ignorant, and now you, are "lacking" of enough "knowledge," within the subject of Hip Hop to formulate an informed opinion, therefore your opinion is "ignorant."

And in the context of your argument or debate with me, you can have your opinion, and that is fine, but vice versa, I can also have mine, which I stated above.

To add, there is a distinct difference in saying you don't like something, in contrast to saying it sucks, inferring it is lacking in quality.

I don't like country music, but much of it does not suck, as it takes talent and expertise which I do not have. Just as in Hip Hop, no doubt some of it "sucks" because it is void or lacking in talent, but to say it all "sucks" is way off base and "ignorant," because there is obvious talent and expertise involved in areas of its production.

My suggestion is you not call anyone ignorant because they say one line you don't agree with! It does not mean they lack knowledge of anything. It shows you stooping right down to the level in which you speak.

BTW, I said I think Rap sucks. I never mentioned Hip Hop, which has four to five different layers. From DJing, to MCeeing, to Breakdancing and more. I cannot stand Rap, but I do like a couple of Rappers. I know plenty about it, and totally dislike a lot of it. So what? It does not mean I don't like the people rapping either. Trick Daddy will tell you. He knows I can't stand almost all of it, but I get along with him pretty good.

There is just a complete miscommunication going on here, hence why internet arguments tend to be circular. We are both entitled to opinions so I will drop it there.

But to be technical, Hip Hop is the music and the culture as a whole. Rap is the actual linguistic aspect of Hip Hop. Every emcee is a rapper.

I could go on for days about Hip Hop culture, and one of the main reasons I defend it is because it is misunderstood on many levels. This is why I have researched it extensively, written multiple Master's level papers on the topic, and teach aspects of its history in my class. So when someone says it "sucks," or there is "no good rap," I hope you can understand why I defend it.

I understand why you defend it. Just pointing out that just because someone says something sucks, it does not have to mean they're ignorant to some of the facts of whatever that is.

I do think it sucks but think they're are some really good rappers (go figure) like Tupac, and Eminem to name two. I can listen to their stuff once in a blue moon, and pop my head to the beat.

Now, I don't go searching out every single rap tune so sure, I might not be UP ON things, but by no means am I without knowledge of the culture.
