got to be able to run the ball to win the game. Our OPL has not done a very good job of opening holes for the RB's and frankly Brown has looked like doo doo most of the time.
Really hate this statistic...if you're winning you run..if you're losing you throw. A much better statistic, IMO, is BEFORE we have a lead what does it look like.
Correlation does not equal causation again. Teams who are trailing late in the game have to pass more. That doesn't mean that passing more makes you lose...
Sure Tony become one diminutional and sure to win! Balanced Teams win. first if I could of fee you some advise get Marshall a touch in every game in the first series get him into the game Second when you run mix it up up the middle 85% of the time is predictable also please why the he'll we are not a screen happy team is beyond me We have Ronnie and Ricky both great catchers and don't forget the TE Also remind your defense to show up
Yet teams that win with the pass have gotten too the superbowl also. 2010 Both the Saints & Colts 2009 Cards 2008 Pats 2007 Colts Interesting isn't it.
Pretty much. Though teams that pass often (say, over 40 attempts) do tend to lose more than win. But that’s because they’re in a hole to begin with. I wish Sparano would read stuff like this a little more often though.
I actually have to agree a bit with the OP. It seems like we've gotten a bit away from our power running game from 2009. We're giving our guys (R&R express) the carries, but not at the right times. If it's 3rd and short, I'd feel better going to Brown and Williams. Instead, we'll go with the short pass to Davone Bess. And, don't get me wrong, I love me some Bess. One of the most underrated possession receivers in the game today, but we should be handing it to our backs more often. Pound the rock and the air game will open up.
Not really instructive though NJ, how many teams made the playoffs via running the ball? Manning is a close to Marino as we are likely to see for quite sometime so I tend to think "yeah, well that's due to Manning..".
I think being a power run team or run first team is a misnomer. The Colts are in no fashion considered a power run team and yet they can win most of their games. They are currently 3rd in passing and 24th in rushing, but they are #2 overall in offense.... BTW, the #1 ranked offense is SD sitting at 2-3 for the season ?? Too much is made of rushing stats...too little is made of mistakes...that's our downfall, not ability or inability to move the ball...we tend to trip over ourselves with either an ill-timed penalty, missed assignment or turnover on O or as in last weeks game, too many mistakes on STs...
