How about Ronnie Brown + draft pick/player for Marion Barber and Roy E. Williams?

Felix Jones is the present and future there, and Dez Bryant obviously is their future WR.

How would you all feel about Ronnie Brown and a 3rd or 4th round pick/player for Barber/Williams?

It makes sense on paper, as the Dolphins are most likely not sticking with Brown after this season, and they need a speedy deep threat. I don't see the Cowboys pulling the trigger on that though. If they did, they'd most likely ask for a moderately high draft pick, which the Phins can't afford to give away. Then again, I could be totally wrong. It's a good idea, but that's all it ever is for us fans unfortunately.

Not just no, but HELL NO!
I wouldn't give a 3rd round pick by itself for Williams and Barber.
We already have?...5? WR's better than Roy Williams, and 3 RB's better than Barber.

    Are you joking?

Roy Williams would IMMEDIATELY be starting along side Brandon Marshall.

And Marion Barber would be our starting RB within two weeks...

A third round pick alone for those two? No-brainer...

    Seriously?
You need to go look at what those two have done for the last 20 games or so.
Barber wasn't even a lock to make the squad here in Dallas, he is DONE and Roy Williams has been absolutley DISMAL since Jerra made that atrocious trade.
Trust me guys, I live in Dallas. I am subjected to watching them every week.
Those two are a large part of the reason the pokes are 1-3.

Well, my thought process would be Williams could thrive on Miami's offense. Marshall needs to be doubled every play, you need to keep an eye on Bess in the slot, so you can't play soft on the Phins passing offense. That pretty much puts Williams in single coverage most plays, and that's where he's dangerous.

Barber, meh. I'm just looking at the idea of stretching the field.

The Cowboys O-line was right there with the Packers last season as the worst in the league. Felix Jones hasn't done crap either (possibly worse than Barber) until last game. Also, I remember hearing that Barber showed up at camp in the greatest shape of his career this season. Marion the Barbarian...

Roy Williams has made Dez Bryant an afterthought as number two WR there, and has been tearing it up lately.

I wouldn't trade for Roy Williams. Marion Barber I would be intrigued by but that depends on the price tag.

EDIT: Nevermind, didn't think Barber was that old.

Roy Williams is actually playing pretty good ball lately. His stock is high at this moment. Considering what they gave up for -- and gave to -- him, that might not be such a cut and dry move.
I don't see Dallas trading for a soon-to-be 29 year old RB with injury concerns in the last year of his contract. And, personally, I'm not really interested in Barber either. I think he's not what he used to be. It's basically a lateral move, except he's slightly younger and gives you less in the passing game (not that we take advantage Ronnie's talents there). Hell, Barber is in the third year of 7-yr, $45 million contract.

Personally, I'd prefer we seek out a running back who can add another dimension to our offense (speed). A guy I really like is LeSean McCoy. I'd love to have a back like that in our offense (to think we could have drafted him instead of Pat White last year). Other folks can tell us whether those kind of backs are coming next April. But that's a guy I look at and say, "we need to find someone like that".

Right, because Williams hasnt had anybody across from him in Dallas?
    Miles Austin
    Patrick Crayton
    Dez Bryant
    Jason Witten...

    Or in Detroit
Calvin Johnson and a host of others..

The guy is terrible. He just is.

I wouldn't do it. I don't think Williams is worth anywhere near his salary, which we would assume in a trade. I believe his salary is like $13 mill next season. And I would prefer a speed threat than can catch at rb. Even if we were to lose Brown, I'd prefer the compensatory pick and drafting a younger back over taking on that salary and Barber.

    To date he has exactly:
42 rushes for 144 yards. A WHOPPING 3.4 yards per carry. I have watched every game this year, including pres-season. He goes down on first contact, ALL THE TIME.

    He's done.

He's had one very good game, 3 weeks ago against Houston, and a pretty good game last week against Tennessee.

He pretty much carries the same exact mantra around here that Barbie Carpenter did and that is people are AMAZED when he actually makes a play.

Theres a good reason the Cowboys took Dez Bryant...who will usurp Williams when he finally has enough time being healthy behind him.

To be honest, MANY were surprised that Patrick Crayton went instead of Williams, I am sure it had lots to do with money, and the fact they actually go t a draft pick for Crayton.

I'd go after Sims-Walker before I went after Williams anyway, since we're on the topic of WR's. Thought I feel like the ones we have waiting in the wings could turn out to be very good, so there's no immediate need for one.

Yeah, I would also. Actually, the Diva aspect is about equal for both. Many thought that bringing Williams back here to Dallas might fix his "Dont give a **** attitude", but it didnt. Any interview with the guy is dangerous as he has a challenge communicating without s-bombs, such.

RB would be a position I might consider, but from what I have seen of Barber the last 2 years, he has no zip, no pep, and doesnt break tackles or run anybody over anymore. That battering ram style has taken its toll IMO.

I remember we were trying to get Marion Barber from Dallas a couple years ago. RBs have a short shelf life and I think a trade is far less likely now.

I think the Dolphins would have taken CJ Spiller if he fell to us in this year's draft. I see us franchising one more year out of Ronnie and drafting a RB next year.

Roy Williams makes too much money to be a good trade for Miami.

Plus I see Hartline riding the pine soon to give Moore/Wallace some opportunities.

    Interesting thought.

If Spiller fell to us at 12, that would basically mean we would've taken him over Odrick and Misi... of course we had no idea who those 2 picks would end up being, but that's how it panned out.

I really really like Spiller, but I have a bad feeling he is going to be hurt...often. Tough with a kid like him, cause he's really not somebody you want handling it 20 times a game...or even 15, but really nice cause every single time he gets it, something great is more than likely going to happen.

Sorry CIF, but I just don't see it. Why would Dallas want Brown over Barber? Barber is younger and has been more durable than Brown. Barber was also extended in '08 for seven years (at 45 mil).

As for Williams, "Jerra" gave up a 1st, a 3rd and a 6th to get Williams, then redid his deal (six years, 54 mil, with 26 mil guaranteed). That's a lot invested in two players. Like I said...I just don't see it happening.

Now, if you can figure out a way we can acquire Whitten from them, and on the cheap, and I'm all for it. :wink2:

I would take barber if he wasn't old and runs like he does, as in seeking contact. You just know he's going to slow down soon.

They should definitely draft a Rb this year. Devine is so damned strong for his size and he is a highlight machine and as much as I'd like him to come home (if not for his grades he'd be home now), I don't think he will have a very long career in the NFL. A good one sure, but he's going to be taking some serious licks....

My lord man we are already Dallas south and you suggest adding more from a team that is 1-3 or whatever. They are in worse shape than we, surely adding from a team that is as screwed up as Dallas, will not get us where we want to go imo.

Dallas has played four games. The last two he's been very good i.e. 'lately'. ;) And that was my point. This is the best stretch of games of his career in Dallas. His stock is up right now. Even if we wanted him, the price is not as low as it normally would be.

I think the national media and Williams himself has done a good job of making sure the world is well aware of his struggles in Dallas the past couple years.
