Let's go coaching staff. Leave 1 player on kickoffs. Let's see what he has got. No Davone bess, or Cobbs. Hopefully the blocking schemes are better.
Well, keep in mind Gostowski was consistently putting the ball 8 yds deep into the endzone, Nolan Carroll showed good judgment by not bringing the ball out. One flaw in his game, he holds the ball incorrectly, it is tucked into his leading arm which is asking for a helmet to knock the ball loose.
Ive seen an attacking style to his return game..becoming pretty automatic, and just getting better....
Bess has only returned 3 punts this year (mostly because Smith was returning them prior to being fired) but he's improved over last year for sure. He's currently ranked 7th in yards per return.
He was in the NE game, they just kept kicking deep into the endzone and i think they kicked one out of the endzone also.
bess doesnt make mistakes, which i like. someone said hes 7th in return yards? awesome. keep in mind there are 32 teams in the nfl, tons of punts per game.....you see a handful of punts taken back to the house each year, its a rare occurence enless you are devin hester a few years ago.....bess does an ok job...he doesnt fumble, ill take that! Plus if he had some blocking, he could do a little better. Seems every kicker and punter we play are friggin amazing (punters getting 48 seconds of hang time and kickers kicking off through the upperdeck)
I noticed also bess has been looking better. And I think carroll has been returning kicks since the jets game no?
At this point, Bess far exceeds my expectations from this ST unit. The fact he's not turning over the ball alone puts him well ahead of his peers
