There is no doubt the Sox would have beaten the Twins too....there just arent that good w/o Morneau to protect Mauer, and thin in pitching....

The thing is I dont get to excited about this series, that was as easy as it will get in the playoffs....I dont know if it was good pitching or very poor Twins hitting...I keep saying last night Hughes was going to get touched up, as he threw fastball after fastball down the middle of the plate....better teams get to him....but it was a nice confidence booster...

Well Pettitte pitching well is huge for the Yankees, yeah the Twins hitting is weak but the Yankee pitching will pitched well in that series. They needed Pettitte to step up if they want to win it all and so far he looked good. The thing with this series was that the Twins pitching isn't good enough to get the Yankees to swing and miss outside of Liriano which is just way too dangerous when you're facing a very good hitting team like the Yankees. It was only a matter of time before the Yankee hitters found holes in the field for the ball to land.

The Yankees have announced that they will use a four-man rotation for the American League Championship Series, with A.J. Burnett taking the spot of the No. 4 starter, according to the New York Post. Had the Yankees' ALDS against the Twins been extended past the first three games, they would have used CC Sabathia and Andy Pettitte, who started the first two games, for the final two games, rather than turn to Burnett.

Game 4 is a long way away...willing to wait and see how important it is and cross that bridge when we get there.

Trust me, 27 Championships is enough for New Yorkers. Nice try, though. Really.

    this effing guy........

A.J. Burnett threw around 80 pitches in four-plus simulated innings on Wednesday.

The outing has already become tabloid fodder in New York. Burnett threw the first pitch over Francisco Cervelli's head and later plunked Greg Golson and Austin Kearns. "They know I didn't mean to do it," Burnett said about the plunkings. "But it's still not a good feeling." Burnett is tentatively scheduled to face the Rangers in Game 4 of the ALCS next Tuesday.

I was a bleacher creature from the 80s on. Once in awhile would get better seats but I used to see about 15 games a year plus playoffs and about 80% of the time it was in the bleachers. That was the real Bronx Zoo before Guliani came to office :pity: Man you could smoke weed, drink, party, fight, throw beer at the oppositions bullpen. It was paradise. We owned the outfield :lol:I remember so many bullpen pitchers from other teams with a look of shock and amazement at the insanity that we threw down at them  Those times are over sadly. Everyone has to be a good upstanding citizen now :pity:

Slow couple of days in New York, I see. I can't believe something like this is considered news worthy. Who cares what he did in a simulated game. As long as he didn't get hurt this shouldn't even be talked about because it means nothing.

Dude this is just the beginning, if this guy comes out and does one of his tank jobs....NY is going to revolt on him....this is all the media has to harp on right now...the mystery that is AJ Burnett...

Well it's clear he's the media's target on the Yankees right now. I still think it's strange no one has been able to find out what the story was with his black eye in Baltimore about a month ago. If Burnett ever has a bad outing in Game 4 which out, the backlash will be almost pre Arod 2009 like.

The only admittance from AJ was that it wasnt baseball related.....so, I wager he and Joe Buck got it on, and Joe missed.:hi5:

Not a good start to Game 1. Trail 3-0 thru 4 innings.

CC is off his game (again)....gives up 0-2 3HR jack to Hamilton in 1st. Following leadoff walk...then falling behind and having to throw a fat middle plate pitch, before he two strike HR pitch. (near wild pitch would have been 4th run of inning, but fortunate bounce off the brick backstop got the out at home)

As I have feared, Yanks bats are not disciplined at all right now...chasing pitches out of the zone...chasing early in count...(and once again we have an UMP that doesn't actually know what a strike zone is)...so while we have put runners on base all with 2 outs early in this game we have been O-fer with RISP. Not good and the difference in this game.

CJ Wilson has turned into a Staff Ace apparently.

Hopefully Yanks bats wake up as CC tries to hold down the fort deeper into the game, but something has to give with Yanks Bats and not taking a nap for balance of this game or series for sure.

And the Rangers get to CC again, with clutch 2out RISP hits....thats always, and I mean always the difference in playoff games.

    Mehwahahahahahahahaha......

So much for all the hacks talking about the Rangers not even belonging in this series. Do those A-holes get fired for being so ignorant? I know that if I was as bad at my job as the hacks in NYC, I would've been not only em bare assed, but fired on the spot.
