Probably just the acknowledgment that his TD production in Denver followed the same pattern the majority of the time. Why would it be reasonable expect that he would break that pattern and have more TD production over the first 4 games while adjusting to a new, young QB?

hes dynamic. fast. shifty. and like you said earlier, he is a tough SOB. He is firery.....he will yell in your face, he will jab and jab and jab you then hit you with a knockout right hook when you least expect it.

he goes up and gets the ball, he can run any route (slant, fade, deep post, jet screen etc)

and the best part is henning is familiar with his play type (was OC in carolina)

    --although i doubt it happens--

Iam sure hes watched Claussen enough to know he needs to GTF outta there, ...

seriously..this is a superior talent that is there for the taking, there is no logical reason for him to stay on that team, they need to rebuild, and there definitely not going anywhere any time soon..

    The Fox/ Parcells connection..Henning/Smith connection..

I agree with Alen on the premise that we have other positions I would like to address, however, there is only one steve smith.

You are welcome to give your opinions but if you are not accepting of other opinions then they will have the same reaction to you as you do to them.

Agreed, Marshall has always been a league leader in drops but when you are targeted often in excess of 7x a game, double covered frequently and use the middle of the field often, drops are going to happen unfortunately. I think some people are missing that part.

Don't do that bro, we'll miss reading your insight :console:

Just say no to Bowe. Maybe for a 7th or something ridiculously cheap but really, Ill pass otherwise :)

Now enough about Sick's hands which by now have more potential kids on them than a sperm vault and keep the thread on topic :shifty:

    1. I don't trust this report by @incarceratedbob as far as I could throw him. He's garnered Florio type status on Jets news, which is to say he's got valid sources that can be wrong and so you consider all rumors to be about 50-50 depending on the believability of the development...but he's never shown me he's got ANY valid connections outside of the Jets.

    2. I'm not surprised by the rumor I mean look at all the guys being talked about here. The Panthers are shopping Steve Smith. The Bills are shopping Lee Evans. The Jagoffs are shopping Mike Sims-Walker (really surprised nobody's mentioned him yet). Vincent Jackson is a source of constant rumor-mongering. Deion Branch already traded hands. Roscoe Parrish is probably also on the block. Dwayne Bowe is the subject of speculation. There are teams out there that seem to have a mind for trading receivers and so it's like when disinformation season starts before the draft, you have rumors getting floated all the way around pumping up various players' values.

    3. Given that the Patriots were ACTUALLY a team that was in the market for a receiver and that they just executed a trade for Deion Branch, unless you afford them zero respect in their decision-making, you have to assume that the guys remaining on the market present less attractive cost/benefit scenarios than Branch for a 4th rounder. And that's saying something because I would have SWORE that the Seahawks could only get a 7th or maybe 6th at best for Deion Branch, and so getting a 4th is a sign that they had the Patriots by the short and curlies. Do you honestly think that would have been the case if Carolina was ready to part with Steve Smith for a song? Or if Buffalo was willing to part with Lee Evans for a pack of Marlboros?

    4. All that said, IF it were all true (lots of WRs on the market for low low prices) then I would jump all over it. Why not? Seriously. All of the guys in question, with Dwayne Bowe the exception, are the exact kind of receiver that Miami is missing. Brian Hartline isn't getting the job done, he's too hot and cold. He's cold as ice in Buffalo, warm in Minnesota, hot at home against the Jets, then cold again for New England. That's not going to do it for us. What I think would REALLY scare them is the realization that he's not the kind of RAC receiver that they thought/hoped. To me, any play that goes less than 10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage is a RAC play. He basically had that one slant pattern against New Orleans where a corner missed a tackle and a safety was out of position and bam he's 67 yards down the field. If you take that aside then at that RAC distance of 9 yards beyond the line of scrimmage or less, he's 22 of 35 for 189 yards, only 83 of which is YAC. That strike you as good? That's 5.4 yards per attempt and a YAC average of 3.8 yards. That's not good. He's not a RAC player, and arguably he never has been even at Ohio State. I think the one thing I noticed about him at Ohio State that caught my eye a little bit from a RAC standpoint was his ability to keep his feet while catching balls deeper down the field. That has actually shown up. While he's only 3 of 15 for 120 yards down the field 20+ yards, he averaged nearly 10 yards of YAC on those 3 catches. What he's best at is the intermediate pass where he's 16 of 26 for 263 yards. He's also savvy enough to catch a few passes in the end zone. But he isn't dynamic, he's inconsistent, he's not a RAC guy and he ain't gettin the job done. So if you've got some good players that can gain yards after catch and get deep, you may want to check out the price tags a little. I don't care what the other needs are, this is about availability as much as need.

    4. Back to Mike Sims-Walker who I'm honestly surprised hasn't been mentioned yet, there WAS indeed a rumor that was reported by a real reporter not an @incarceratedbob, that the Jagoffs were shopping Sims-Walker for a late round pick. If that is the case I would JUMP on it and I don't give a god damn whether you think we need Tight End or Nose Tackle or Inside Linebacker or Cornerback, etc. Availability is availability. Sims-Walker is 6'2" and a solid 210 lbs, ran a 4.35 at the Combine with good other numbers, and he can catch the ball deep. Last year, 19% of his targets went 20+ yards down the field. That compares with other deep threats, and his 13.4 YPA on those passes also compares. People had to be wondering what the hell happened to him this year but the fact of the matter is Garrard is Garrard, he hates deep passing, and he wasn't even looking at Sims-Walker for some of these games. Even in a bad year, Sims-Walker is providing more pop per snap than Hartline. He may not be a RAC player either, but at least he's a more proven downfield threat.

Bob runs in the gambling circles so he is prone to start rumors that effect the odds.

Not to kick a dead horse but we had a WR who could stretch the field and runback kicks in Ted Ginn.Even though he was a disappointment as a No 1 WR his pure speed would have been enough to stretch the field for Marshall and the other WRs.And we havent adequately replaced his kickoff skills .A 5th round pick in return for his trade seems like a bad decision at this point.

And to further not kick a dead horse Camarillo is a better WR than Hartline another decision that will be questioned.

If these rumors prove to be true which I have my doubts about I think they are disappointed with Hartline more than anyone else.

Carolina has some nice Te's as well, King, Bainridge (I like his game coming out in 08).

MSW is interesting, but I suspect (based on some Club level stuff) that they really want to get the Returner situation straightened out, which would mean the Bills and Roscoe Parrish..but Lee Evans would be a plum, and add juice to the passing game.

I would absolutely be happy with us moving a 5th for Sims-Walker. I'd probably even be ok with a 4th, because I can't imagine the likelihood of getting a better player with that pick.

Plus, I'm sure it would make the game even more fun for Marshall, which should ultimately help Henne and the team.

Well, I've been pimping Roberto "Lil Beast" Wallace for some time now, if Hartline is a disappointment imho they should move him to #5 Wr and use him on kick offs and punts and bump Wallace into his place.

To me, we mirror the Chargers and Floyd and VJax make Rivers look much better than he actually is at Qb...

And not to point out that that horse is long dead and buried, but the player you're referencing constantly played like a pu$$y, had quite literally a set of 75 unimpressive kick returns for every 1 really good one, and produced a "killer" 5.2 yards per attempt at 20+ yards down the field in 2009 for all his being a "deep threat".

As for Camarillo being more productive than Hartline, given. But Camarillo is much less a deep threat than Hartline and the spot Greg vacated is currently occupied by Brandon Marshall, not Brian Hartline.

With Moss going back to Minnesota and Branch going back to New England... it all makes sense that a certain former Dolphin wr would be coming back to Miami... it's not Ted Ginn... it's not Greg Camarillo... it's...
