because they need to for saying ronnie was short of the first down in real time, and after looking at the replay in slow motion over and over again when he clearly got a first down. that made me sick!
That was a botched call. I think it's funny that Packers fans are blaming the refs when they clearly got some calls.
there should be disciplinary action when they make bad calls after challenges. that could have cost us the game.
How the **** does Hochuli still have a job? He has at least 2 very controversial, game changing botched calls a year. Dude is a ****ing terrible ref.
It was a bad call, clearly Ronnie had the first down. No doubt about that. My only wonder is, did hochuli maybe not properly explain why the call on the field stood? If I remember correctly from the replay, you could never see the ball. You could see Ronnie was over, but you couldn't see the ball because his back was turned to the camera. Could Hochuli have maybe upheld the ruling on the field due to inconclusive video evidence? Its possible I think. Have to see the replay. If thats the case, I guess he made the right call, but thats the problem with the system sometimes. Anyone have a clip of the replay?
NFL.com has the replay. My assumption is there was no clear visual evidence because you couldn't see the ball... he said "the call stands" not "the call is confirmed"... Just my assumption though, I thought he had the first clearly.
they spotted the ball wherever it was when ronnie's hand was down (his elbow never touched. he kept going and his knee eventually touched while the ball was well passed the first down marker.
the whole thread is about rodgers not getting penalties for us hitting him. lol. in my opinion this never happened. what did happen was rodgers crying the whole game for no reason! even when our player hit his helmet with his helmet, he hit him in the chest first. the only post in that thread that was worth reading was when someone said, "you guys are missing the point, why is rodgers getting hit so much"! lol. or something like that.
Oh, I know, but the point I was making is that you can never see the ball through the replay. Sure we can all assume where Ronnie is holding the ball it should be a first down, but if the refs can't see it, they can't call it that way. Have to have video evidence or whatever they call it After watching the replay again, thats really what I think happened during the review. he didnt have inconclusive video evidence to over turn it because you can never see the ball. Speculation sure, but... yeah whatever, we won. The starks one was close to being late, not much Starks could have done though as he was already in mid flight coming in for the hit. Only part of it that could be questioned is whether he lead with the helmet or not. I know the commentators seemed to think he did. Either way, I didnt think so, I thought it was a clean hit, close to late, but not quite.
He was crying for flags from the beginning. I think the very first hit Wake or whoever put on him, he stayed down on the ground holding his head. Pretty good acting but not good enough.
Probably right about that but my question to the ref is where did he think Brown had the ball? Stuffed in his leg pads? Because every other part (above his legs) of his body was a yard past the marker.
During the week, the NFL reviews the games and grades the referees. Hochuli’s crew will take a hit from blowing this call.
the refs handed victories to a couple of teams today (texans) and they almost handed it to the packers. thank god we won and overcame the refs
Soccer fans would be proud of Rodgers acting or should we say crying skills. The call on Brown was clearly blown . Its hard to believe that Hochuli is rated among the best refs .
I have to say, not overturning that spot (how they got it wrong live is still beyond me) is one of the worst calls I've EVER seen. Not just because it was against us, but simple logic. It was clear as day that Brown got that w/ room to spare. VERY bizarre. And the call on the punt that gave us the first down, it was almost like someone buzzed Hoculi and told him "dude, you OWE the Dolphins one big time!!!" That was a weird call too, but oh well!!
I was just happy to see the Phins get back to run it down your thoat football. A big win for the guys. Two thumbs up.
Man those Packers fans are ridiculous. As soon as I saw Hochuli was the ref for he game we were in for incorrect calls. In fact I would argue the refs let the Packers back in on the blown Ronnie call. We likely would have got at least three on that drive making it harder for the Packers to push it into overtime. Packer fans should be thanking those refs.
That call on the punt was a 110% legit call. you can't line up a player over the center on a punt. Like it or not, its the right call, not a make up call. The spot... I really think Hochuli didn't overturn it because there was no inconclusive video evidence that the ball was across when ronnie finally went down because his back was turned to the camera and you couldnt see it
I think the call on the punt was technically correc't, it's just something you don't see much. In high school (where I ref), you can't even hit the center until he comes up to hit you. I wonder if this rule is something like that (the NFL as we all know has some of it's own, specific rules - and it's "fun" for me, when High School coaches think they apply to high school ). But I'm just saying here, I bet that isn't called many other times and it just happened to at a very big point in the game for us. I'll take it!!
i see what you're saying but i still think that far fetched. plus we only see on angle, don't they have more angles to look at? there's way too many camera's at an nfl game. i totally agree with you about Starks hit. Rodgers is a titty baby. i understand him wanted to be more protected since he just had a concussion, but he atleast needs to find better things to cry about. lol
From what I remember they get graded to see what crew gets the Super Bowl game and playoffs along the way.
Officals can get suspended, they can lose games, if they have a bad season, they can be denied playoff games. Mr. H is a very good official, if he wasn't he would be not be working games in the NFL.
i totally thought the same thing about the punt penalty. i figured they owed us one. but he was clearly lined up over the ball just like ronnie was clearly passed the first down marker. so they called the game right except for the ronnie brown play. what was so frustrating about them blowing the ronnie brown play is that we were in field goal range, probably would have got a TD the way we were moving the ball, then the packers end up scoring on a drive that never should have existed.
i keep hearing this, but i know they have more camera angles than what we saw on tv. there is absolutely no excuse for that call.
The call on Ronnie wasn't Ed's call to make. Second, on the review, no one could see the ball, so as a official, you have to go with the call on the field. You can't assume where the ball is.
there should be rules to discipline them on blown calls in close games. i take that back, a close game is irrelevant. i don't care about refs blowing calls when there's no replay...it bothers me, but every team has to deal with that because the refs are human. but a blown call after watching a replay should definitely have disciplinary action.
The officials see the same replay in the booth as you and I see on TV. We saw nothing on TV that would make us place the ball anywhere different then the original spot.
