And responsibility for the team comes with the territory of being a starter.

Great work with the stats Todd. After looking at the number of QB failures that we have had here in Miami maybe we should turn the microscope around - what's wrong with us?? How would you like to be a star QB and get drafted by the Dolphins - you would probably commit suicide. :tongue2:

    (just goofin' around guys)

Henne is not franchise material. He is back-up quality. Sooner or later we will be in the market for another QB.

Are you serious? This is the crap you come here with after a win? Talk about backup quality. We won the game. He had 2 td passes, if marshall gets both feet down, make it a third. Threw a pick, that was a nice defensive play, and he was inside with the throw and shoulda been outside, but it happens. He played well, didnt force alot, sure he missed some throws too. But to make that assumption after todays game, is just ridiculous.

Henne is splitting this franchise right down the middle. Tuna has no use for him and TS is going down with the ship keeping him. All the while Henne now has 19 interception in the last 11 games.

He might develop, but at this rate when he does Ricky and Ronnie will be ready to retire. We need someone who can take us to the big game now!! and he aint it. We may win some games but we won't go any further.

    False.

In the past 11 games he has 15 INTs. He has 19 in his career.

In the past 11 games he also has 14 TDs. He has 20 TDs in his career (19 passing).

By that logic, the Jets must suck because they played us when we also had some key injuries and barely escaped with a win.

Listen, we get it. You don't like Henne and will therefore never give him credit. You also seem to not like the Dolphins much since all you can do is look for reasons not to be happy about a big road win against one of the better offenses in football.

Not sure why some of the folks on here try so hard to give you an education. As for me, I'll likely put you on ignore from here on out since you bring very little to nothing to the conversation.

Teams like the Packers are good because of their depth. We've lost to teams recently who were missing many key players.. We just beat a really deep team that had its starting QB playing at a high level. Still impressive.

LOL, even after a big win? Seriously? I swear, some people won't be happy unless Henne throws 4 TD's and over 500 yards a game. He played well again today, minus a few throws, in a hostile environment and came away with an OT win and the 4th game winning drive in 18 starts. Give it a rest you whiners.

Seriously!! This kid is going to be a very good QB in the very near future. I really don't know what people expect?

I have a NEWS FLASH for the remaining Henne Haters: He is NOT nor will EVER be Dan Marino! Accept it. But also accept that he doesn't have to be for us to win, or for him to be considered a great QB.

We were spoiled at that position for 17 years, and the following 10 have been mostly a comedy of errors at the position.

But, now, we have a solid young kid who is a leader, is tough, and is only getting better. What more do you want??? Give it time and he will deliver! Remember, today was start 18 for him! Not bad so far!!

Name me another young QB you'd rather have right now? And I mean one that we realistically could have had instead of Henne. And if you tell me Matt Ryan, I'm going to vommit!

I agree with everything you said except the above.

If your backing up the guy great, but the reason why a lot of people trash the guy and go over board is also because a lot of people dont look at him objectively and make EXCUSES for everything he does wrong.

Marshall would've had his feet in if Henne didnt over throw his target.

Marshall was OPEN. Period. The QB needs to just not over throw that and its a TD.

He threw a pick. Good play by the D. End of story. No excuses.

HOWEVER, despite those mistakes, he played well enough to win.

Like I have said before. Henne right now is playing Jay Fiedler esq. Average. Doesnt mean he should be benched.

I cant understand why the hell people come on and cry for CP. Pennigton cannot take this team any further than Henne can this year.

So why the hell dont we just leave Henne in and see if he can grow out of his problems?

If he grows out of his problems he WILL BE BETTER than ANY QB we have ever had since Marino. Period. No one can contest that.

If he doesnt, then the worst we have is an Average Fiedler type. Which can still win a lot of games throughout the years.

When this season started I was pretty hard on him but as the season progresses I am starting to get used to him and I see that he is still a little shaky in confidence but as long as he can develop mental toughness we can win with him.

I am not saying he is playing the way I want to see the starting QB of the Miami Dolphins play but he is getting the benefit of the doubt at this point from me.

Meh, that's on Marshall IMO. He's got to get that foot down and everyone on TV showing the highlights agreed. He gets paid the big bucks to make those plays. Doesn't matter though. Marshall was a beast and we won the game.

Cmon dude. Playing like Jay Fiedler? Jay couldn't make half the throws Henne can. He also had an elite defense and running game for several seasons and was still average.

Fiedler was a career backup. Give Henne a year or two and he should be one of the Top 5 QB's in the league IMO.

    Henne is nothing like Fiedler.

    He has an arm.

He is not a clone of Nosferatu

He also is not garbage like Fiedler was.

Thats just it, yes the ball should have been thrown sooner, or maybe it was a bit overthrown (depending on how you want to look at it), but the fact of the matter is, Marshall had the ball in hands, with a chance to get both feet down and in bounds. He has to make that play. Its a 100% catchable ball, and its 100% a play that shoulda been made. Can go either way really. Yes a bit better thrown ball is a sure TD, but so is getting that other foot down on a catchable ball.

I'm not saying Henne's perfect. He's got things to work on, we all know that. But to say he's not going to be anything more than Jay Fiedler, or a backup at this point is just ridiculous. The game just needs to slow down a bit more for him. He can make the throws, we all know that. Its just a matter of getting the ball to the right guy, at the right time. That comes with experience. Experience comes with gametime. He's started only 18 games.

Hmmmm...... you're right. Maybe we can trade 3 first round picks for Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, or Tom Brady. <rolling my eyes>

And by the way, in their first 19 starts:
    Manning- 33 INTs
    Brees- 23 INTs
    Brady- 18 INTs

As far as the top young QBs in the league, Henne is basically neck and neck with Ryan, Flacco, and Sanchez. Penny hasn't proven that he can do ANYTHING against a playoff caliber team, and Thiggy is FAR from being ready to show any resemblance of consistency.

I'd like to say the word "moron" just to say it, but that might be taken wrongly....... so I'll just stick with the ole "get a clue" instead. <yawn>

IDK why you are looking at stats for 19 games, you should be looking at stats for 11 games. Henne has 19 INT's in 11 games - not the reverse. As far as Ryan, Flacco, Sanchez, Penny and Thiggy are concerned - scrap them all. We need a QB that has big game experience, and we'd better get looking fast.

Ricky Williams is 33, Lousaka Polite is 29, and Ronnie Brown is 28....just how long would you suggest we continue to fiddle around and give Henne time? 2 years?, 4 years?, 6 years? If we wait that long we will have to rebuild many other positions and then really have a mess on our hands.

I am not saying that Henne won't develop, I am just saying that we don't have time to wait for it. The coaching staff isn't turning over the roster and bashing its brains out getting talent to wait on one player. You put a Superbowl caliber QB in Miami and we will be in the SB in one year. If not we risk losing the time frame and the players in place to take us there.

Face it - it's now or never guys.

To add to this: Dansby and Wake are both 28, Sapp is 29 and Bell is 32. Do you really want to wait years until Henne fully develops? How long do you want to wait?? Is it really in the teams best interest to hold on another two or three years?

I understand your concern and I have over heard a few people saying the same thing. We have many key positions that will need to be evaluated within the next two years. That point I cannot argue.

But for today; enjoy the win and lets re-join this debate after we know the results of this season. Henne may surprise you. By the end of the season he may be big game ready. I think it's too early to have this debate.

all three of them are replaceable. They're fan favorites, yes. But RBs grow on trees and theres new ones every year in the draft or just wherever. (Like Arian Foster, where the hell did he come from)

And while Polite is a real great FB, FB is such a forgettable position.

Using any of the guys you mentioned as argument for dumping Henne because hes not a superstar yet is just silly. We can always get a new RB. A real QB, however, takes time.

"PACKERS: OUT: LB Brandon Chillar (shoulder), TE Jermichael Finley (knee). DOUBTFUL: LB Clay Matthews (hamstring), T Mark Tauscher (shoulder). QUESTIONABLE: DE Mike Neal (shoulder), DE Ryan Pickett (ankle). PROBABLE: T Chad Clifton (knee), S Nick Collins (knee), WR Donald Driver (quadriceps), DE Cullen Jenkins (hamstring, hand), RB Quinn Johnson (glute), TE Donald Lee (chest), QB Aaron Rodgers (concussion), CB Sam Shields (calf), CB Charles Woodson (toe)."

They are lucky they didn't have to be carried onto the field. I am thankful for the win but lets not get too far ahead of ourselves. We did not beat the Packers on their best day, or even close. What we played were the Packers "PINO's" "Packers In Name Only".

How many more times are you going to spew out the wrong facts in your ridiculous arguement? henne has appear in 22 career games, 18 of them starts. On his short career, he now has 19 TD and 19 INT. If you're going to bash the guy, at least get your figures straight, especially after already being corrected on it several times in the thread.. This nonsense is ridiculous, especially after a win. Wow

The Dolphins literally have the youngest roster on the team and he's talking about "now or never."

That's all you need to know about his perspective. Just ignore and move onto to more fruitful discussions.

I think Henne played pretty decent yesterday, only real negative for me was yet another drive killing interception...but yeah for not having amazing numbers, he did well....

I especially love when he tucked the ball and ran for 10 yards and a 1st down, as there was nothing but real estate...he moved the chains, didnt force a pass that wasnt there..and it resulted in a FG right before the half....that was such a heady play....

I thought Henne struggled with his accuracy yesterday. He just seemed a little off even though his stats looked decent enough. That being said I also thought he wisely threw a ton of balls away. I don't recall many really dumb decisions. There were a few questionable passes to Marshall in double coverage, but I want him to trust Marshall enough to just throw it to him even when he's covered so I won't criticize him for those.

Yeah Jay FIEDLER. Fark I cant believe I have to defend Jay because you either didnt read everything I posted or you didnt understand it right.

How many games did we win with Jay at QB?

That we had an elite D? An elite D that broke down late in games, sure. The RAVENS had an elite championship D. We had a great D.

You say Jay didnt have Henne's arm...SO?

Does Henne have Fiedlers scrambling ability? How many sacks has Henne avoided by scrambling so far in his games? I think on Sunday it was one of his hand full of out of pocket runs for a 1st down.

Jay's ability to scramble WON us more than a few games.

His mental toughness was almost 2nd to NONE. That dude was destroyed week in and week out by everyone wanting Marino #2 especially being that he was the one who came right after him. I dont think any real Dolphins fan can ever question Fiedlers heart and desire for a Miami victory at any cost whenever he stepped on the field. That dude had more bloodly jersey games than any Miami QB I have ever seen.

All in all, YES. Henne right now is as good as Fiedler. With him I am positive we can win just as many games as we did with Jay if not more. Can he improve and become better? Thats what I am hoping and fully looking foward too.
