but hell I'll take it! Really seemed like the Packers were trying everything they could to give the game away. And the Dolphins lacked that killer instinct in the second half with a couple of opportunities to go up 10 falling by the way side. -Special teams much much much much.... much much... much improved! Sure, there were two ugly moments, partially blocked punt, thanks Bobby Carpenter and a hold on Lydon Murtha (although I thought it was questionable), but you had Carroll having a huge day with some big returns, almost breaking one for a touchdown, and giving the Phins good field position when we needed it. Not to mention Dan Carpenter kicking some big field goals for the win. Fields with some big punts as well. And yes, that was VONTAE DAVIS covering a kick in the third quarter (IIRC after we went up 13 to 10). -I thought Chad Henne grew up a lot today, on the road, in hostile territory. Started the game on fire with Brandon Marshall... the two seem to be getting themselves in sync after the bye. Then had that bad pick in the first half when it seemed like we were going to score again. The Packers come down in one play to take the lead. Henne dusts himself off and leads a nice scoring drive (WITH HIS FEET on one third down conversion) just before the end of the half. That was a huge drive and really gave us some confidence heading into the second half. -Defensively, I thought we played very well. Save for that game tying drive at the end of regulation and the one big pass to Jennings (I'd give my first born to get him on our team next to Marshall, well maybe not but you get the idea, he's the only receiver to get over on Vontae Davis this year). -Cameron Wake is an absolute beast. What more can you say? Going against Bulaga, thought he'd get off to a faster start than he did, but really the second half was all Wake. I think that shows maturity as it took him a little while to figure out what he needed to do to get by the rookie. -Can we ever stop a qb draw at the end of the game? EVER? That would have been the worst one if we hadn't pulled the game out in OT... Tails never fails... sure we didn't drive the ball on our first possession for a score, but we did allow the defense some much needed rest as they quickly got GB off the field on their only series of OT. -no Wildcat today, and I wouldn't say it's completely dead, but it's certainly in hibernation. Give Henning credit for drawing a huge playcall on that TD pass to Fasano. Thought for sure that Henne was going to get sacked, or if he tried to throw it back, it would be tipped somehow. Give the robot credit for making the athletic play and getting the pass off. -our play style lends itself to success on the road. Conservative, let the other team make mistakes... don't make any yourselves. We're now three and oooo on the road... oh and two at home. -on the injury front, noticed Lex Hilliard in at FB at the end of the game... hopefully Lousaka will be okay.. probably taking it hard that he was finally stopped on third and one. Looks like Dansby will be okay. And looking forward to Jerry and Odrick getting back next week against the physical Steelers. If we can pull that one off, four and two after a five game brutal stretch... i'd take that... on and go BRONCOS!
Murtha had to hold him. The scheme had him going free to Carpenter. Otherwise, it would have been NE all over again.
I dont know, to me it seemed like the dolphins tried to do everything they could to throw the game away and just didnt (luckily).
Is it common for ANY QB to go into Lambeau and "put away" the Packers? The team played well today. Going into Green Bay and taking on a team of that caliber that has such a strong home winning percentage and coming out with a victory is great. Our O played pretty balanced and showed the ability to gain yardage through the air and with the run game. Henning kept his gadget plays to a minimum. The defense did pretty well in containing a high powered offense. Wake had a coming out party and showed he could provide a dominant pass rush. Special Teams have made a complete 180 degree turn and were actually a positive for most of the day. It was a good win. No one should be complaining about this one. Sure Henne still has issues. I don't disagree. However, he played well today. He made some mistakes, still needs to be worked with on staring WR's down and made some decisions that could have led to additional INT's but he IS still young. I think he played damn well for a 2nd year QB in a huge game.
this was a great win today for the fins. henne looked fine, i mean a couple of off throws, but overall looked good, marshall was beasting, wake is a monster, crowder looked to make a big difference. only thing that ticked me off was the packers 4th down, i was yelling at my tv before watch the middle just like the Texans game in 08, and sure enough Rodgers runs right up the middle to tie the game. thankfully, we won and it didn't matter, but the defense must have better communication in those spots
That QB sneak while our Defense was still talking amongst each other was ridiculous. No excuse there. I'm sure they'll correct it. At some point you whether you feel you're prepared or not you have to simply line up and get ready for the play.
i agree, it was ridiculous, i mean just inexcusable for that to happen. its like we call a timeout right before and then first play after we are having miss communications? then why the timeout before? anyways, luckily we won and all but we need better communications.
Look, a win is a win and that's all that counts. I'm reminded of that 2008 team that won 11 games by playing tough mistake free grind it out football. The kind of football that gives you a heart attack. I can't take those kind of games every week. But lets put things in perspective here, we beat the Packers 2nd and 3rd stringers. We've got a lot of building to do. But being 3-2 right now means you're still in a strong position for playoffs.
u should be used to it now. every week that's how it goes with our fins, u gotta expect it. we can be up 24-0 in the 4th with 9 minutes remaining and somehow the game will come down to the final seconds.
