Even though GB was down 7 starters, a win is a win in this league.

However, now the opportunity presents itself to show ourselves, our fans, and the league that this team is not the same old Dolphins (the ones that bend over and grab their ankles in big games). We have four more games to show that...if we have turned the corner, we'll win those four games.

The first one is this week vs Pittsburgh. The game is at home. Its at 1. The Steelers have Big Ben back, coming off a bye week (or a scrimmage vs Cleveland, whatever). The Steelers are like us...a non playoff team from a year ago, trying to get back. We should have the advantage. All this young talent I keep hearing about. A young QB that people seem to think shouldnt be criticized, and a coach that many want extended. Two great players picked up in FA or trades this offseason. Bring on the Steelers.

If we beat Pittsburgh, we can show the world that we are better than those two disgraceful losses that we had to the Jets and Pats. We can prove that our coach really isnt the moron many of us had him pegged as....and our QB really doesnt suck in big games. If we lose....uh oh.

The other three games that we have to win are the rematches vs NE and NY and Baltimore. Win those games, all is good. Lose them....uh oh. Things will be back to how they were with Wannstedt. And the clamoring for a new coach will have a new intensity.

Had to read this post. Couldn't help myself.

I find it funny how when they lose it's on "them" and when they win "we" won.

Gotta love the usage of "we" in this case especially.

Anyway, back on to the ignore list.

In other news: Dallas/Minesota is a game. Tied 21-21 in the 3rd.

Heres the thing i dont get. We just beat the PACKERS. Many people consider them a top 3 NFC team right now. Rodgers is considered a top 5 QB.

And yet beating them doesn't show we're better than the losses to the Jets and the Pats?

You have to start giving us credit for the games we DO win and stop picking out the hardest game on our schedule and saying "If we don't win that, we're nothing".

The Dolphins are till we prove otherwise! This win while it was a win would not have been a win if they were not banged up.

    Pittsburgh isnt so bad off.

I wear no rose colored glasses. We have LOTS of issues and we won but easily could have lost numerous times.

You might want to re read the OP. Right now, we def are...unless you can make a case that we arent.

The opporunity (maybe you just dont know what that word means, if so, PM me, I can tell you, no problem) is for us to win big games and show that we have changed.

The first opportunity to move us form the "same ol' sorry Dolphins" comes Sunday. Lets hope they take advantage of it.

And if I use a word you dont understand, like opportunity, I have no problem explaining it to you...seriously.

Who is calling them a top three team? In what universe? Please provide some info to back that up. The team that started opening day for them is missing 7 starters. SEVEN. And one of them was among the best def players in the league. We won in OT...against a .500 team.

But a win is a win and I will take it. But it doesnt have anything to do with negating either of those losses. We are still second rate. We can put that designation on hold by beating the Steelers.

You must not be a true Dolphins fan... can't be. Otherwise you would know that they are all about getting your hopes up only to burst your bubble. Get with the program, no way the Fins beat the Steelers.

I give us credit for beating GB. But if we want to stop being "second rate" yes, we need to win our "hard" games. We need to be other teams, "hard games".

Before the season the Packers, Cowboys, and Saints were the top 3 NFC teams. The packers are covered in injuries, but they still have a great receiving core, an All-pro QB and a very strong defensive line. They're still fielding a great team, and we still managed come out on top. This was just as big a win as any.

Not about what will happen. Its about the opportunity for it to happen. We have a chance to start the climb to elite status. It starts Sunday. We also have to play the Ravens, Jets, and NE. Win those four games and who knows? I would be inclined to say we have turned the corner. Dont win those four, I think its safe to say we are the "same ol crappy Fins".

Well to me this game is setting up like the Jets MNF game did last yr, we had just gotten a huge win against the Bills (no that is not an oxymoron) and the Jets were riding high when they came down to Miami, Cam Wake was coming off of a 2 sack performance vs the Bills and the running game had gotten really going.

last yr, penny went down and we lost the chargers, then Henne started v the Bills, Wake had 2 sacks in his first real game, the Jets came down to Miami after losing to the Saints, but still quite cocky, and the Dolphins won the game even when we were under dogs.

BTW..first 3 consecutive road wins since 08, first time to open the season since 2003.

I'm not expecting a win, but I'm expecting competition.

If we can be competitive against the Steelers, and show that we're ready to tear through the rest of the games on our slate, I'll walk away from next week pleased.

The Steelers really have been tearing it up out there. However, Ben is only coming in on his second game back. Lets hope there's a bit of rust there. I mean they stomped the Browns over the weekend, but it's the friggin browns.

I am rather worried about that defense of theirs though.

So it went from "this team is second rate and they suck" to "this team has a chance to turn the corner" in just one week?

This what happens when people make claims irrationally.
    Get off the fence OP........

I don't have a big problem with this. If this is truly a good team, then they have it in them to beat the Steelers. Same goes for the rematches against NE and NY. The only one I disagree with is Baltimore. Not that they can't beat the Ravens, but I wouldn't particularly think a loss on the road against a real strong non-divisional opponent would necessarily be indicative of how good or bad the team is.

Reading is harder for some than others. Try to reread the original post and if you still think credit from the GB win is contingent on beating the best team in the NFL, the PM and I'll give you the help you need. And I wont charge you...its a free service.

Beating GB stands alone. A win is a win. Right now, as I FIRST said (because as Confuclious knows, I get it earlier than most) and now many agree, we are not an elite team. We are second rate.

However, things constantly change. We have a chance. The NFL schedule makers and fate give us the opportunity to move to the elite status. All we have to do is beat the Steelers. They are a non playoff team, just like us. They lost a game at home, just like us. We lost last year to them without Dansby and Marshall. If we made good FA and trades, we should have the advantage. I keep hearing how TS is growing into the job...

What a great, great opportunity for this team. I am excited. Its not often that piss poor second raters get a chance to take control and change their status. The Dolphins have that chance. How could any "True" fan not be excited as hell? Win this game, then all we have to do is beat NE, NYJ and Baltimore. We are basically 25% of the way home. I believe. Do you guys?

after that viking game I wrote that all the premature demise of the team and farve was just that....they were good, farve was good/played well, and now the pundits are back on that wagon after more data....Bottom line, that was a qauality win on the road for our young team.

2 of our 3 wins have come against playoff teams from last year, on their turf, against teams that were very heavy favorites to represent the NFC in the superbowl.....
and our 2 losses came from playoff teams in the AFC, both strong favorites to represent the AFC in the superbowl...

but...if we beat the Steelers, who weren't a playoff team...that makes us elite?

    Gotcha.

Either you're elite or not, you can't be elite dependent on schedule. Who you play, has nothing to do it.

Seriously, you should post here, you'll find more like minded "fans". In fact, you'll probably be their hero.

IMO Pitt should be favored against Miami this coming week. They have played better over the first 6 weeks of the season. That being said Miami is certainly capable of playing with them and beating them. Miami has shown the talent to play with any team in the league. What Miami hasn't shown is the consistency to be listed with the top teams. Of course, that list of the top teams will change throughout the season. And since Miami has already shown the talent to play with that group its ridiculous to contend that any one game will or will not show what this team will be by the end of the season.
