Ahhh the joys of ThePhins.com.....If someone says positive things about the Dolphins, then they know football. Anything negative said and they're football idiots....

Not true at all. If someone said something negative like Henne lacks touch on his passes, especially fades and his arc on the ball needs some work thats both constructive and true. If someone says "Henne sucks" that adds nothing of any value to the board. Explain why he sucks and create discussion and debate; thats the point of a forum. Its not "I am right and you are wrong" all the time.

Thats not just directed at you by the way as many need to view things a bit different. This board is whatever YOU want to make it within the Terms of Service. Like anything in life its all about what kind of approach you take.

I traveled to Green Bay this weekend and went to the Fins vs Packers game, next to me were sitting to old man who you could tell have seen a ton of football. There knowledge does not come from what they have read like us, but rather what they have seen on the field.

I love picking the brains of old guys like these who have seen a ton of football, we were talking about a ton of different football realated subjects, when all of a sudden completely out of left field One said, how could Dolfans want to bench Henne. Both said the kid is so similar to a young Brett Favre.

I told them how he was getting ripped and how fans wanted Pennington and they said if Miami does that some other team is gonna be very thankful to the Dolphins. One of the old man said you know the one thing that is wrong over there is they don't have the patience to wait for players to develop. He reminded me of Welker, and said imagine if we would have benched Rodgers after the first year he started. He said, Son sometimes patience is everything to a good team.

Chad has played well this year. He hasn't been great, but he has been good. He has a positive Td-int ratio and has a winning record. He's also spread the ball around to an alright extent and is on pace to exceed 3500 yards passing.

That is terrifying. Favre is the season killer. Oh, you want to advance in the playoffs? Here, have an interception, that’ll cure your ambition!

Dude, you know what the guy meant. Favre was a GREAT QB until a few seasons ago. Need I remind you that he was a Super Bowl MVP? We can only HOPE that we get that from Henne. (I think we will)

No. Favre was always a season killer. When the Packers won the Super Bowl, they had the best defense in the NFL and one of the greatest defensive players of all time to bail Favre out of his mistakes.

He has always been more likely to sabotage his team than lead them to victory. He’s not Kurt Warner.

I stand corrected before anybody can correct me. :tongue2:

Favre was NOT a Super Bowl MVP, but in his day, he won NFL MVP.

Like I said, We can hope Henne will do the same, and he will.

Favre is one of the all-time greats. The man is a legend. His prima donna act the last couple of seasons has soured alot of people on him, but it doesn't take away from what has been a prett awesome career. If Henne comes anywhere close to Favre, we'd have hit with that pick in a huge way.

He is not. He’s a gigantic fraud of a quarterback. The sooner people realize this, the better. He is Jay Cutler with padded numbers, and Jay Cutler rightly will never sniff the Hall of Fame.

Bart Starr is an all-time great. Aaron Rodgers could be an all-time great. Favre is not.

Ok. Glad you set me straight. He's had a 20 season career as a Jay Cutler type QB. Gotcha. I mean, I agree that Cutler will never sniff the HoF...but Favre, IMO, is much better than Cutler.

    I said Cutler, not Fiedler.

But hey, defending Favre through misdirection is an ideal talent for employment at ESPN. Good luck with your application.

Farve does have 7 seasons in a row that ended on a stupid interception. Amazingly stupid interceptions mind you.

I meant Cutler, and had edited my post to say that.

Do you think Cutler has a 20 season career? If not, why do you think that Favre has? I mean, do you really believe that team GM's couldn't see that Favre really isn't that good? Why would teams stick with Favre for this long?

I still would argue that last season, that pick wasn't horrible. The receiver was open, Favre just threw it late. He was a second or so late on the throw.

Durability and being surrounded by good teams that helped to hide some of his flaws.

Yes. The only reason Ted Thompson didn’t get rid of Favre sooner was because the fanbase would have lynched him, and they nearly did after Favre was let go, but it was the right decision. Importing Favre did nothing for Mike Tannenbaum in 2008, and in fact cutting Pennington for Favre handed us a division title. Minnesota’s 2009 season ended the same way the Packers’ 2007 season, among many other Packers seasons, did: an interception.

In the case of Ted Thompson, extreme fan reaction against the move. In the case of Mike Tannenbaum and Rick Spielman, desperation. It’s easier to rent a QB than to draft one.

It is. We’re debating whether or not the comparison of Chad Henne to Brett Favre is a positive or a negative.

I think an old Packers fan would be talking about the Favre in his prime. I think everyone here should be able to pick up on that.

You're only 26, it's no wonder you feel that way about Favre.

Favre is going to retire as a top 10 all time great QB. There is no arguments against that fact. Sure he's had bad games. What QB hasn't? However, you don't remember when the Packers were the laughing stock of football. Favre changed that. The man is a great QB.

This isn’t an age thing. This isn’t a “you never saw him play back in the day” thing. This is a “Brett Favre annually kills his teams and he’s been doing it for the majority of his career” thing.

What Desides is basically saying is he's a choke. And he's right. Go look at his playoff game logs and find a game where he didn't throw a pick.
