We beat him both times, regardless of who played. All I was saying was that we beat him before and we will beat him again. Can't do anything about the fact that the roster was improved and he faced different players. The stats don't lie. You can call it a coincidence or whatever you want, but the fact is that the Giants have hit this guy better than most teams. Yeah the win in April didn't have much to do with last night. That was a different game with a different lineup like you said. I wasn't saying that it meant "everything", all I was saying was that it at least meant something.

How could it mean something if there were 7 different players involved? The only thing that was the same between those 2 games with the name on the front of the jersey. Also 2 games is an extremely small sample size. Halladay has put together a HOF career pitching in the AL East so for an average, at best, Giant line up beating him twice is more of a coincidence/fluke than anything else, since that offense isn't exactly the 1929 Yankees out there. But if you're the Giants or a Giant fan you shouldn't care since your team is 3 wins away from a World Series.

You can call it a coincidence or a fluke if you want. If you want to talk about flukes we can discuss the 2004 Red Sox. That was a fluke. But that's a whole different story. You can hate if you want but I'm having a good time seeing my team win finally. Take the negativity somewhere else. Thanks.

The 2004 Sox were a fluke considering it had never happened before in the over 100 years of baseball history, and of course due to the percentages and probability, especially considering who the opponent was at the time. That doesn't mean I don't look back on that season or championship any less. As a Red Sox fan I'm damn proud of that title and in baseball sometimes you need a whole lot of luck on your side, hell sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

Anyway getting back on topic all I'm saying is that if you honestly think because the Giants beat Halladay in 1 game in April was a reason why they beat him on Saturday it's completely foolish and just wrong. Especially when you consider that he faced 7 different batters on Saturday's game and more than half the line up wasn't even on the team in April. But hey if you want to think that that's fine. I'm not hating on the team nor am I being negative, especially since I really don't care which team wins this series, I'm simply stating facts.

Who, besides Cody Ross, is going to beat the Phillies?....yes, the Giants have very good pitching, but the Phillies have just as good pitching and much better hitters. The Phillies also have much more experience and they never would have watched a infield pop-up turn into a hit. Experience, great defense, solid pitching and hitting gets it done most of the time. I still think it will be the Phillies and Yankees.

Cody Ross, fine. It was weird move, even if he was sucking for us.

But getting mad over Jorge Cantu and Matt Treanor. We've let go quite a few very good players over the years, those two are not among them.

Change that to postseason. He was tearing it up in the NLDS as well. He was responsible for the game winning RBIs in at least two of the three wins in that series. I think I'd hate Jeffry Loria as well.

With the way that pitching is going Cody Ross may be all they need. He's racking up a ton of postseason RBIs.

God I hope the Giants can win this series. I can't say I'm a hardcore Giants fan, but they were my team growing up as a kid (huge Barry Bonds fan actually) so I always want them to do well.

So Tex got up 3-1 on Yanks......now SF is up 3-1 on PHI........odds that both hold on for series win?

    Only 1 does?

    Neither does?

Philly has the better shot I think of coming back and winning....New York as much as I hate top admit it....is DOA...just IMO of course..

however I am going with neither....San Fran a team with not much offense at all, is making this look pretty easy, because they have better pitching top to bottom than Philly....I under estimated SF pitching big time...

Well the Yankees percentage wise have a better shot than Philly because they only have to win 2 more games compared to Phillies needing 3. But I'd probably put money on Philly coming back to win between the two teams because of Cliff Lee, home field, Halladay, Oswalt, Hamels and the Giants offense. Of course the Phillies have to face Lincecum, Sanchez and Cainn again so yeah nevermind, I don't like either team's chances but I'll go with the Yankees I guess. Lee has to come back down to earth at some point. Man all this flip floping I sound like Joe Morgan (and that kids is not a good thing). Ok Yankees, final answer.

Yankees, without question. I keep trying to console myself by saying that the Rangers have an ace (pun intended!) up their sleeve in Lee (like Ray mentioned), but to dominate a lineup as good as the Yankees twice in a span of five days is a very tall task. Plus, it would be Game 7 where anything can happen. At that point, doubt would certainly be creeping into the Rangers' minds. Not to mention, Ron Washington is their manager.

On the flip side, I don't really trust that SF offense at all, either. Buster Posey is a stud, but outside of that? Yeah, not impressed. Unfortunately for Philadelphia fans, the Phillies' bats have somehow been worse. Credit the SF pitching staff, though. I'm usually quick to brush aside a lot of their numbers due soley to pitching in the NL in general (NL West in particular). They've been impressive. That said, it'll be interesting to see how that staff reacts to a strong AL lineup. I'd give them no chance against the winner of the ALCS in a potential WS matchup.

A lot of people in general said that about the Giants offense against the Phils big 3 & look who's up 3-1. So don't say the Giants offense doesn't have any chance against the ALCS winner in the WS if the Giants make it there. To which, I believe they will & have a chance.

I agree that the AL wins the WS this year, but I wouldnt be to quick to count out the Giants....they push guys along, steal bases, get timely hits, play good defense, and their staff are monsters.....Tough team to beat....also they have a true home field advantage...Philly/NY is a wash....simple drive down 95....

Don't get me wrong, I think the Giants have been impressive. But I just don't think they match up particularly well with either the Rangers or the Yankees, especially New York.

Jonathan Sanchez is a perfect example. The kid has a real live arm with plus stuff, but can you imagine him trying to grind his way through the Yankee lineup, considering his control issues? It'd be like the postseason version of Daisuke -- 55 pitches through the first inning.

Not only that, but they also have a bunch of former AL washouts in that pen (Ramirez and Lopez immediately come to mind).

I admit there's probably some bias being factored into my thoughts, as I have a general perception that the NL is an inferior league. Oh well, we'll see how it plays out. That's why they play the games.

Ultimately I agree and if it is against the Rangers(which it probably will be) they will beat their ***, the Rangers are scary good at hitting right now...The Yankees would have a good shot, seeing Andy and CC have pitched against them recently.....All in all though it would be pretty cool if the Giants won...old school New Yorkers would hate it though

Here's thhhhhhhhhhhhhe pitch and Arod hits it high, he hits it far, he (dead silence), well imagine that Susan, the 2nd baseman makes the catch just behind the 2nd base bag. Imagine that, baseball sure is a funny game.

    That's my Sterling impression.

Oh god, seeing someone like Sanchez pitch to the Yankee line up? I bet he reached the 100 pitch mark by the 4th inning.

Anyone thats in the playoffs has a shot but I do think the Giants have the weakest team on paper. Of course the game is played on the field not on paper but that Giants offense besides Posey who is a legit stud is pretty weak. I mean when Huff is your 2nd best hitter you know you have a problem.

Well, even though my favorite team is indeed the AZ-D-backs, MUCHO love for the Gints and the way they made it.

I am going to really enjoy watching this series and seeing the stories unfold.

Already gave some love up for the very unconventional saviour/saver in your lineup.
