We are in the bottom of the league with a -2 on TO's. I had expected more from Nolan's D. Why are they not coming as often as I would like? TO's WIN GAMES!!!
I am satisfied with the record but, did expect more TO's to fall our way. Our D has played well, just thought we would have more TO's.
Its been asked in other threads....dont know the answer.....are Blocks via ST Punts and FGs counted as TO's? If so, thats a big difference in the differential right now, correct?
I did not see that, have to work every once in a while. LOL Good point on the ST's. I had not considered that. It does make a difference.
I dont know the numbers off hand, but I would be willing to bet most of Miami's TO's are interceptions...I would love to see more fumbles...however there is no doubt there is room for improvement in this catergory even with the dropped int's.....
Just brainstorming, but maybe part of it is due to lack of experience. Dansby is our only vet with a history of making plays IIRC. We're young and still a little inexperienced at the INT positions: CB & FS (and Bell is not an INT guy). Also, most of the forced fumbles come from LBs, pass rushers, & safeties. We're inexperienced at OLB & Safety (and Bell has 4 seasons with 1 or less FFs). Crowder has created only 4 TOs in his career, so it doesn't get much better with him in the lineup.
this d doesn't lay that much wood anyway.whats the last "jacked up" moment we have had?the only one i can think of is that hit bua(sp)made on 2 guys at once.other than that we miss alot of those tackles or we wrap them up.i have been very impressed by wake on this..if you notice he is always taking a low,hit them in the gut aproach when sacking the qb. i take that back.davis has stuck a few running backs in the backfield but other than that we don't give alot of "whoa" shots.
Dropped picks and no fumbles to recover are the causes of this. Basically we have stone hands and dont hit quite hard enough for more turnovers.
I recall Barry Jackson, The Herald, saying that he did not believe Dansby was worth what he was looking for because he did not make enough big plays. So far he has one sack, defended one pass, and that's it. I do like Dansby but, he has been far from a play maker to date.
I think people put too much on interceptions and sacks when it comes to being a playmaker for a middle linebacker. Stopping a 3rd down with a simple good tackle is also a big play
