I got one. It only turns on when there's a Tornado near...which was about 5 hours ago actually.

DAMN good thing they ended the other Series when they did.

In Germany "Big League" soccer, they used to dissolve the worst team each year. Was always interesting...of course, that is socialism and all....

Or the player heading into the base with the cleats up, or a Catcher blocking the plate and a Runner determined to score or one of my real favorites, the Right Fielder with the cannon arm gunning guys down at home plate.

    Aww cripes:

I think they have it sewn up, to beat the Giants and win the WS, the Rangers are going to have to beat Brian Wilson, he is their stopper if you cannot overcome him and score the Rangers won't win.

Nolan Ryan pitched at a high level into his mid 40's, he even threw a no hitter at that age and there never was any whisper that he used PED's, dude was just tough.

He'd finish a start, then do a 45 minute workout, he was a tough tough dude.

Thats a big thing that Frank Zappa lesser and Nolan Ryan brought to the Rangers . They are very adamant about NOT counting pitches. Its really not important.

IF indeed Cliff Lee pitches for the.... your team next year, you will see something interesting. He almost always pitches a complete game....very rarely out before 7 at the very very least.

The Braves pitchers, Smoltzy, Glavine, Maddux used to have wagers on who would have the most complete games as well as the highest batting averages.

    Now CG's?

They need to make 7 innings pitched a complete game..:chuckle:

It makes no difference if the games are played in San Francisco, Philadelphia or France, the travel days are already built into the schedule and won't change because of where games are played.

Well after this World Series is over baseball will have its 9th different WS champion in 10 seasons. Apparently there is in fact parity in baseball and people yelling and screaming about teams 'buying' championships don't have much evidence to back that up with. It's good for the game.

Right. Except a few teams get to keep taking key and favorite players away from other teams.

Doesnt seem to be affecting the outcome, but for a team without, it SUCKS!!!

You can spin it 1,000,000,000,000 ways, and for those without, it still SUCKS!!!

    What?

How many WS have the yankees lost in the past ten yrs? Red Sox have been to 2 in the past ten yrs, and in the past 5 yrs how often have the teams changed?

    NLCS: phillies 3 times
ALCS: Yankees what 3 times? Red Sox what twice?

When did a small market club put together that sort of run?

Money will not buy a title, money will make sure you have enough talent to seriously compete for one and does give large mkt teams and advantage if they are willing to spend it.

Not that much anymore. Teams are starting to get smart and locking up their key good young players at an early age. Free agency isn't like it use to be. The best SP after Cliff Lee this year is..... Carl Pavano.

Again though, just because teams are able to sign these key players away it doesn't equal championships.

    One of two teams.

He sticks with the Rangers or goes the the $kankee$

Baseball has become sooooo damn predictable..and those "WITH" Still think its a good thing.

Its not. It is driving up the largest "Single team" fan base, but completely and totally alienating the majority of the Country.

Yankees have been to 3 WS in the 10 years.

Money obviously gives teams advantages but when you see teams like Minnesota and Tampa Bay that don't have money but are consistently good the argument gets weaker.

Let's play a game what do these teams have in common: Pirates, Royals, Orioles, Blue Jays and Nationals. They're the only teams that haven't made the playoffs in the last 10 years. 25 out of the 30 teams have made the playoffs at least 1 in the last 10 years.

Probably the Yankees, so what? Sure it makes them a better team and a heavy favorite to get to and win the WS but the games are played on the field not on paper.

The ONLY way to fill seats is by offering up Marque players. Guess what. The $kanee$ keep buying them away, which means, the other markets can't compete.

Its a cyclical sickness. You are buried in it so you dont see it.

The Majority of the Country could give a rats *** about Baseball....why exactly do you think that is?

Again when the team with the largest payroll in baseball has won a total of 1 WS title in 10 years and give money back to the small market teams to help them you don't have much of an argument.

Were you complaining when the Blue Jays signed Vernon Wells to that big deal or the Giants with Zito or the Twins with Mauer? Why should people just yell and scream when the Yankees sign someone to big money? Again it doesn't guarantee anything.

You COMPLETELY miss the entire picture.

The $kanee$ dont sign "A player" to big money. They sign ALL players, and mostly "The best" and "Most attractive" players.

Its a freakin Monopoly. An Untouchable Monopoly.

Plain and simply, its ruining the sport. There is no longer a sport. Its expected, from Spring Training, that the $kankee$ will be in the post season. Why should the other teams even try?

Most players are doing NOTHING but auditioning playing for the $kankee$.

Its been well portrayed here since May, and amplified once Cliff Lee got here.

And the same teams keep making the playoffs with the opponents cast changing, for example "Yankees vs Rangers" the Yankees will be in the playoffs again next yr, Texas will be without Lee.

As for the Twins, when have they advanced to even the ALCS?

And why ten yrs? FA/Arbitration starts when? 4 and 6 yrs isn't it? So a teams fans may enjoy a 2 yr window, such as in Cleveland, then the CC Sabathia's and Cliff Lee's have to shipped out.

Eh, this is the WS thread, not a back and forth about competitiveness, there will be plenty of time to go back and forth on this stuff after the WS is over.

No clue. The Diamondbacks have won a WS in 2001 and made the playoffs in 2007.

There are a lot of reasons why people lost interest in baseball. The pace of the game, the # of games in the season, the price of actually going to the games.

No, his team, the Red Sox, benefits from it, if he was a fan of say..the padres, or the indians, and was forced to watch the good young talent leave every 3 seasons, perhaps a different pov would emerge?

Eh, should be a good WS, the Rangers bats vs the Giants pitching.

    Try Bankruptcy

You dont see it. The rest of the league is doing anything and everything to keep up with the Jones's and the Smith's.

The rest of the Country is losing interest. Its no fun knowing that you are always trying to play catch-up. It just gets damned old!

Hey bottom line is to get into the playoffs and then anything can happen. And the same teams don't keep making the playoffs year after year, hence why 25 teams have made the playoffs in the past 10 years.

A player is under team control for 6 years (depending on service time) before they are granted FA. I choose 10 years because it's a large sample size.

Yeah my team, the Red Sox who spend money and didn't even make the playoffs this year because a small market team like the Rays have the sense to build their team with young talent via farm system and by making good trades.

The Diamondbacks were bankrupt because of a divorce, no? Not because they lost so much money because they couldn't draw.

Yeah the bankruptcy was the best thing that has ever happened to the Rangers. And now they signed that mega huge TV deal they're no longer the poor small market Rangers so you'll need to stop defending them soon right?

Kind of hard to back up your arguments when you're using a team that has made it to the World Series as an example.

    Completely and totally irrelevant.

The $kankee$ lineup will change each year.

They cast off the mistakes, and start over with the cream of the crop. Its not like they do this every 6 years, they do it EVERY SINGLE F-IN year.

And another thing, teams like the Pirates and Marlins are actually making money, so let's not all cry and feel bad for them. Their owners seem more than happy to send out subpar teams and make money. They also don't mind taking luxury tax money from those bad big market teams and putting them into their pockets instead of using that money to help their club.

Another thing, was anyone complaining when the Reds signed a Chapman to that 50 million dollar deal? Of course not. But if it was the Yankees or Red Sox people would be going nuts over it.

All the self proclaimed experts will pick Texas in 5 just like they did Philly. I don't care that 75 percent of America is picking Texas. People haven't given SF any type of credit at all this entire postseason, and it only fuels the fire even more. All the people who doubted SF on here, saying they didn't stand a chance against the Phillies. Let the hating continue.
