Atleast outsiders know dan henning costs us games... also henne looks good with time, how do u think brady made/makes a living
ya like they are coming to our house for dinner, southern hospitality......"no go ahead pitt and wear whites. you are coming all this way to south beach....its so tough. we dont want you being disadvantaged or anything" lmao whata joke
We've worn white at home for as long as I can remember. Why would we subject ourselves to a disadvantage in every home game we have by wearing darks, and allowing the opponent to wear whites? Bush league? Get over yourself...
don't mean to get everyone all wound up again, but... YouTube - Dolphins vs. Steelers Controversial Call (10.24.10)
No he didn't. He regretted mentioning it and then pretty much said the same thing but a little lighter.
Since I have read the thread twice now and missed that one, why don't you go ahead and quote that post for me so I can see what you are talking about.
You quoted it. Reread it, notice on how he didn't take it back. he did mention that the Bucs do it, however they are not as physical as the Dolphins.
Why is almost everyone jumping on the ONE remotely negative thing in the whole original post and not even replying to the other 90% of the post which was very well thought out and observant. Is it so hard to talk to an opposing fan civilly? Are we SO wrapped up in our petty spite and hurt feelings? Seriously? I'm embarassed that this is the welcome a decent poster finds at thephins.com Thanks for your observations, Mejeris. I agree with most of them.
I did tell him that I agreed with most. Still #4 was one of the dumbest things I have ever read. If someone comes up to me and tells me 3 good points abouts the solar system and then tells me that the moon is made of cheddar cheese, I will more likely fixate on the fact that he thinks the moon is cheddar cheese. It is human nature.
Preach on brotha-man! Just because it is an opposing fan does not mean we show them any less respect then we ourselves would like to be treated with.
4. Your coach wearing whites at home so we would wear black uniforms is amazingly gay. It's bush league, and the Steelers feed off stuff like that. Once again, I just don't feel like your HC has the right mentality for your team. You guys are actually good; you can win games against good teams without tricks and luck. His pertinent points were pointed out by most of us , just what he said and how he said point #4 merited a response n'est pas?
As the elderly gentleman said to us while grilling and tailgating at Arrohead " dem pork ribs? " Yes and pull up a chair and have a beer while they grille
In all fairness to the OP, the TV commentators did say that Sparano wanted the Steelers in black jerseys. I thought it was a ridiculous thing to say because white on white IS our home uniform for the daytime games.
Ya it sucks that a good bruising game was ruined (for us) by a crappy call, but ah well. It's tuff to be 3-3 with our 3 losses coming at home against teams with a combined 15-3 record, but that's how the cookie crumbles. I'm very happy with our run defense. Outside of Benny Sapp getting abused all game, our pass D played pretty well. Wallace's bomb was downright nasty. Henne played very well within our gameplan... can't ask for more than that. I don't know why we didn't take a single shot downfield either. He had great pass protection most of the game.
I'm pretty sure Ben said something about him having his hand on the ball...Which is bull**** and we all know that you can't trust anything coming out of that guys mouth. Can I ask you a question? Why do the Steelers ALWAYS seem to get the refs on their side??
Do we really need 50 posts all saying the same thing in response to our home uniforms? lol As far as the first 2 series go, I think that's more about our conservatism than it is a lack of faith in Henne. Coming into the game Chad had the 2nd best TD % in the NFL inside the redzone. This should be where Marshall earns some of his money. Why have a guy his size and not utilize him near the endzone enough. In regards to throwing deep: it's difficult to throw deep when your fastest WR runs a 4.5. Our receivers are all possession guys who can't stretch the field.
The Dolphins have done this for years. It is an advantage. Did you even see the game and notice how 'your team' was getting exhausted b/c of the heat?
Yep. It is hard considering all of the players on his team lying about having the ball in the pile including the QB who has a bit of a history of being a douche. Its crappy to never come here before and then show up to discuss the play we are all so *** sore over. Its crappy. I don't have to like him and I'm not going to. I'm embarassed that your embarassed.
But the reason they wear White during day games in Sept/Oct is exactly that. Because they want the opponents in darker colors. Nothing rediculous about it really...
Didn't the Steelers wear white for their "home" uniform for the Super Bowl a few years back now? I'm pretty sure they did because they had won their playoff games on the road and thought the whites were "lucky". If that is correct, Steelers fandom have lost the right to complain about home whites. It's also not as though Miami is the only team to do it. The Redskins and Cowboys are also all about the home whites. It's the home team's choice.
Although he was fairly civil, he seemed to be in denial about the Fumblerooski. Well thought out, sure, but dead wrong.
And it's not like we told Pitt to choose black as one of their team colors. If you want the tough manly black color, then deal with the consequences right.
I know that. The OP might not have known that, and the announcers made a big deal out of it on TV. That's likely why he brought it up. That's all I was saying.
Didn't the Steelers choose team color and all of that way back in the day? I'm talking so far back, black being cheaper might have been the reason for the color.
Why the hell is Miami so close to the equator? I mean thats such a gimmick, they should invent some sort of weather control device to keep the sun from getting so damn hot whenever the Steelers come to town. And dont get me started on the lack of dehumidifiers on the sideline for Pittsburgh.
Good call BK. I dont agree that he broke the plain in the Superbowl either, and I find it amusing that: He knew exactly what I was talking about Ben even aknowledged he was surprised that it was a TD afterwards I guess I also took exception to some extent that he came around AFTER they beat us. I will hold benefit of the doubt that he would've had we won, but only because his posts remained civil afterwards....
To the previous poster who seems to think there is something suspicious about me coming after a game (not before): why would I come before? I don't follow your team regularly. I don't know your players. What would I talk about? I come after a game because I like to exchange outsiders' perspectives on the teams. I now have at least one game's worth of perspective on the opposing team. So far, there hasn't been a team that has surprised me more than the Phins. The perception of the Dolphins is that they have been either a finesse/passing team (80's and early 90's) or a basketcase organization (post Jimmy Johnson/pre-Parcells). You guys have a strong nucleus. Like I said, I don't really retract the uniform comment, but I regret it because it became a distraction from talking about the game and the teams. Still has been fun. Next two weeks are bad for seeking out opposing fans: there isn't really a serious Saints community, as there isn't really a big hardcore base of fans (lots of bandwagon fans), and the Bengal message board community is probably the worst cesspool of all the NFL teams. At least based on message board chatter, Bengals fans are the least informed and rudest in the league.
