Agree, I have not given up hope for a playoff slot, I do think the Dolphins have made their road to the playoffs incredibly difficult.

We could finish 10-6 in a "show pony" season, we looked good, did not accomplish anything.

That's not the point -- its who we've lost to that really puts a damper on things. Every poster on this board would trade the wins @ MIN and @ GB for home wins against NYJ and NE.

We may be 3-3, but its a really, really bad 3-3. 1-2 in the division, 1-3 in the AFC and 0-3 at home.

For a 3-3 team, you couldn't script a set of more damaging losses.

He put up 22 points against the best defense in the NFL and has a rating of 86.9 for the season.

If Chad Henne has a CAREER rating of 86.9 he'll start for a decade in this league.

This is not the week to pick out Henne.

The reasons we lost to the Steelers:

1.) Blown call on the Rapist's fumble.
2.) Giving up huge plays on defense.
3.) Conservative playcalling (running a sweep on 3rd and 1 from the 50 and then punting from the 50 on 4th and 1).
4.) Special teams were AWFUL again. Giving up long returns that set the Steelers up for points.
5.) Ultra conservative offensive game plan. We were beating our heads against the wall over and over in the 1st quarter against a great run defense, like we were trying to prove a point. When we went to 3 wide we were moving the ball. Our line was protecting well and Chad was playing well and we did not do that enough. Chad Henne has shown us (and CK has beat this drum constantly) that he is good against the blitz and the Steelers love to blitz. Add all that...and we keep trying to run the damn ball.

And this is from a guy who LOVES to run the ball.

Blaming Henne is dumb in my opinion. The guy might have come off his best game as a professional.

That is the killer. Our losses hurt but WHO we lost to is devastating.

BTW....our B's are going to have a REALLY good year. Nate Horton is gonna score 40. Phil who?

You have to take it one game at a time. You can't just assume any game is a win or loss. That's why you play the game. Hopefully we can cover TO and Chad. If we can we should win as long as we don't turn the ball over too much.

All Henne is doing is sending Dan Carpenter to the pro bowl, 5 FG's?

Henne throws nice, safe passes, he'll put up good numbers, but when we have not scored 3 TD's in a game heading into game #7, something is not working.

    Agreed!
Its not so much being .500 as it is having lost to both NE and the Jests AND losing all 3 home games.
    Home field advantage is over.
Get used to much much cooler games folks.
If we make the Wild Card it will definately be from an extreme intervention from god.

That's fine. I'd love to be proven wrong. The only games that they play that are questionable are vs. the Jets and Steelers. The Pats always make things work no matter who is on the team.

They could've signed Patrick Turner and he'd be an all-pro by the end of the year

So that something is automatically Chad Henne? Do we want Chad Pennington dinking and dunking? Should be abandon Henne tomorrow and start looking for another quarterback? Ready for 3 years of QB developmental time after spending 2 years developing this one? C'mon Pad's, you're better than this.

    Wow. Where to start.
First of all, I want the the drugs you have you think we are clearly better than Tennessee. Even Cincy for that matter.
And to say we are as good as the Jets, Pats and Ravens is very questionable. Two od those teams already have wins against us.
And even if you are right and we go 10-6, I doubt the gets us into the playoffs anyways. We will most likely lose any tiebraker to the Jets, Pats, Titans and Ravens.

You guys are in the same spot we were in last year. A record of 3-3 at a crossroads in the season.

The Dolphins are still a good enough team to make the playoffs without a doubt. However, they can't afford to lose too many more AFC games, because the tiebreakers will really start to work against them, and then they'll have to leap-frog some GOOD teams in the conference.

But it can be done, for sure. Your team is playing well and has been in every game save for the NE special teams debacle. That said, competing for the AFCE looks like a long-shot at this point.

We have to beat the Ravens to have any playoff hopes... and they are coming off a bye week into our game... not going to be easy.

Beacuse I am a realist. I don't sink my head into the sand and ignore the glaring major holes this team has and also I see we are down 1-2 in our division, and 1-3 in conference play. We'd have to win out to even get a wildcard at this point. That is about as likely as The Queen coming out at the next London Gay Pride Parade.

I've seen this team start 6-0 and fall flat on their face.

We're six games in and only 2 games back with room for divisional redemption.

If the Dolphins do two things, they're 11-5:

    1. Split with the good teams
    2. Beat the teams you should beat

That's really not all that inconceivable. The Dolphins showed a lot of consistency in 2008 when it came to beating the teams they SHOULD beat, being predictable that way. That's the kind of team they are and it's the kind of team they start to be naturally when they've got a mature QB leading the offense. Henne wasn't mature in 2009 which is why we lost a few down the stretch that we probably should have won.

The Bengals are a bad team. They're 2-4. Yeah, any given Sunday, yadda yadda yadda. But, they're not good. The Bengals are 3-8 in their last 11 games, they often beat themselves.

I would argue that the Bears are not very good. They've got a good defense, but Miami's offense naturally matches up well with good defenses, outperforming low expectations, and then of course turning around and underperforming higher expectations against crappier defenses. They're too good at beating themselves and Miami tends to feast on that kind of team when they're playing the kind of football they're currently playing.

The Browns, Bills, Raiders...yeah any given Sunday but let's face it they're not good teams.

You know, in 2008 around this point I had a clear vision of where the team was heading, that they'd go on a streak and finish 11-5 or 10-6. Very schedule-based. I'm seeing a lot of the same again.

The key will be stealing two more victories from among good teams like the Titans, Ravens, Pats and Jets. That was something Miami couldn't do in 2008. They didn't have the talent to hang with the good teams. They do now. They've shown it. They beat the Steelers on the field, just not in the fine print.

I think this road versus home thing is funky but ultimately just coincidence. I'm 5-0 in predicting the outcome of Dolphins games this year and none of my reasoning has ever involved anything having to do with home versus away. It's purely been about meshing the talent and tendencies of this team with the scheduling and matchups.

Miami will win this week in Cincinnati. Possibly a lopsided score.

Sup guys. First time poster here, even though I have been reading for quite a while. But anyways, back on topic. When you look at the schedule, it looks like the Dolphins can probably make the wildcard, but to be realistic, I dont like our chances. Cincy can beat us, Baltimore can beat us, Tennessee can beat us, Chicago can beat us, and the Jets can beat us. The teams I like our chances against are all the bum teams + NE. That will take us to 8-8. That is me speaking as a realist, not my real opinion.

Here's me speaking as a Dolphins fan stating my opinion. These thoughts come from when we were once a mighty 2-0, and a close game from the Jets, and Stupid special team BS away from 4-0. Barring all the stupid miscues (special teams, referees) the Dolphins have played with EVERYBODY, and compete like a playoff team. We did not get outplayed the games we lost, it was all dumb **** that set us back. Blocked punt cost us NYJ, Special teams cost us NE, and a blown call cost us PIT. Every team that beat us did not really outplay us. The wildcard chase will be a tough 1 with NE, BAL, TENN, and HOU in the hunt. We can most possibly be 10-6 and miss the playoffs... Time to make my predictions

@ CIN- Win. Stout defense, high turnover margin IMO. We force quite a few out of the Bungles (idk why I call em that lol), while we don't turn the ball over ourselves, maybe once. 23-17.
@ BAL- Lose. Turnovers are costly, and Flacco carves up the secondary with his 3 solid recievers and TE. 27-17.
vs TENN- Loss. Home woes continue. We contain Chris Johnson, but Young carves the defense, and while we do stop CJ for most of the game, 1 long run will be given up. Their defense makes us turn it over... 14-20
vs CHI- Win. Finally get 1 at home. Cutler has been getting sacked and throwing untimely interceptions all year. Their D is good, but our O has seen, and beat better. 24-10.
@OAK- Win. Not much to be said here. 24-13.
vs CLE- Win. Dolphin domination. 35-17
@NYJ- Loss. Jets are solid all across. 26-30.
vs BUF- Win. Possible upset, won't happen. 17-10.
vs DET- Win. They will put up a fight but are too weak on D. 27-14.
@ NE- Win. Defense plays great, don't let NE sweep us either. 22- 17.

Now to be honest, I actually had us winning all but 1, maybe 2 of those games, which was Tennessee, and NYJ/BAL either or, but I knew i was gonna catch hella flack for it, because most of the people in this forum are negative and just wont have hope in what is a solid team. I really think we are not gonna let the Jets sweep us. But I had to throw in that loss to keep all you negative ****s happy. I just really think Miami can play with everybody on the schedule, and as long as we are not shooting ourselves in the foot and Sporano has the team MOTIVATED, and lets them know we cant afford the losses then we are a 10-12 win team. To some of you thats a stretch, but it just looks like so because all of our tough games are early in the schedule.

The Dolphins were not supposed to beat any of the three teams they lost to. I believe all were favored. It's a testament to the scheduling that the only team Miami has walked in as a favorite against was the Bills.

I believe we were a 2 point favorite against the Jets and a 1 pt favorite against NE.

We absolutely were favored against the Jets, that i'm sure of.
