I think it removes some rare items in the game and puts other ones in.

Choosing Wild Wasteland for example puts an alien space craft somewhere and you kill the aliens and steal an alien handgun that's pretty beast. That's all I really know though. I didn't choose that perk because I thought there was more useful things.

I’m on the fourth House mission and I don’t really like where this storyline is taking me. Going to finish this up and then reload my pre-Benny save. Maybe the NCR will be a better custodian of Vegas.

Took your advice Desides. I raped the goon squad at silver city or whatever its called. I killed the guy outside and a bunch came out. Boone and I ****ed them up (although it did cost some stimpacks). Then went inside and killed the others pretty easily.

I looted everyone (repaired all the combat armor, which is worth 6k, so I'll get 3 for it likely) and repaired all their guns, while jacking everything in sight and repairing that too.

Headed over to the Gun shop and sold about half of my ****. They didn't have the money for the rest. I still have about 6-8k worth of loot that needs to be sold. I just got to find a buy with a big piggy bank. I got 1+strength out of the deal and still have 6500 on me in caps.

EDIT: What should I do in the main quest first? Should I see House or Caesar? I went to visit Caesar at one point but reverted back to another save thinking I should of gone to House.

Spread the love. The guy at the Crimson Caravan has some money. Basically, go around selling bits and pieces. I think the whole “merchants only have X amount of caps” thing is ridiculous. Might make sense for caravans but not for retail locations.

Talk to House first. He’ll have a mission for you at Caesar’s camp.

OK, so I have a problem. Killing the Caravan ***** for Cass ****ed up my credit score with the NCR. I had some guy run up to me saying I had three days to get back to neutral or some ****.

I've been running around doing as many missions as possible and although I help out, I get no boost in rating with them. How can I fix this? I only have like 2-3 more missions and I'm running out of days. Can I buy some NCR love or something? Or does 1 bad apple really spoil the bunch? It's not like I've been messing with the NCR all along.

Note to future players: DO NOT GO TO VEGAS unless you want to beat the game. Something happens that will fix your woes with either group and if you do it early, you're going to be ****ed like me.

And I have a question about yes man...
I talked to Yesman so long ago, I've forgotten wtf he said. Since I'm soon to be ****ed with the NCR, Can I just go balls to the wall and fight with both the legion and the NCR and fend for myself? I kill house and do whatever it is I want to? I'm confused with how this endgame is suppose to go. If I kill house, I don't get the mission at Caesar's camp, right? Or will I get a 2nd shot at him? Or do I have no idea what I'm talking about?

I'm so annoyed with my mistakes, I'm ready to finish out the main quest.

Small Frame and Kamikaze are the two best traits in the game. It's not even up for debate. I'm currently on my third playthrough (and yes, I do have a life; it's just that New Vegas is rather short when you get down to it) and there's no reason whatsoever to skip Small Frame. The one additional SPECIAL point more than makes up for the extra limb damage you won't see often anyway if you play "properly".

It's purely for replay value. You get some additional events but you also lose some regular events. Go for it on your second playthrough, it's rather pointless on the first.

There's virtually none. You can easily get by with a charisma of 1 (in fact, you would waste precious points if you invested more than the single required point in charisma). Boone will still kick arse to the point where I don't use him anymore because he makes an already easy game a cakewalk. Just tag speech and put charisma to 1. There's literally no point in wasting even a single SPECIAL point there. None.

So basically just like fallout 3?

Anyone ever do the regenerative implant? Is it worth it?

Desides- Remember we were complaining about stationary stores (as appose to traveling merchants) having default amount caps? Well I went back to gun runners for some ammo, and he had 8000 caps again. I went to Novac, packed all my **** up in the closet, gave it to lilly and cashed in for all his money. I had to back to novac and drop some stuff off again. Maybe he refills every day or something.

As for followers. Boone is beast. It's been covered. But the dog is actually good too (I got a regular brain for him, upping his attack). Now I want to see what Lilly can do.

Yeah, the vendors restore. It’s just a PITA to deal with if, say, you’re overencumbered and the vendor near you only has 200 caps.

Anyway, I was doing the House missions but failed The House Always Wins, IV because I helped out the target of that mission too much. So I reloaded my save before the plotline diverges and now I’m going to help the NCR.

    Yup.

Not really. The regeneration effect is pretty lousy and there's loads and more loads of stimpacks. That said, you'll run out of stuff to buy with all your caps sooner rather than later and it's better than the worthless CHA, INT and END implants.

I find that Boone takes all the fun out of combat. I'm doing mighty fine on my own as it is and when I bring Boone along, I'm not even needed anymore. Boone turns the game into a movie; I just get to watch. The dog, on the other hand, seems glitched, at least on the PC. It really likes to vanish and then pop up again at the weirdest of places.

Finally started playing as I had to take a little family vacation over the weekend. Not really that far into it, I've just made it to the town that the Legion have destroyed.

I picked the Small Frame perk straight away and I've also got it on Hardcore Mode, not really noticed a difference with Hardcore but I do seem to take a lot of limb damage with Small Frame.

I'm only at Level 4 just now but so far I'm loving it, just like I loved Fallout 3. Really looking forward to the next 80 hours or so. :)

Don't want to take away from your fun, but New Vegas isn't nearly as long as Fallout 3 was. On my first playthrough, I beat it in just under 20 hours with max level and almost all of the sidequests done and locations explored.

Rather short? Are you doing strictly the main storyline? I am 30 hours in and haven't really touched the New Vegas quests.

Yeah, that’s his point. The core game—just the storyline quests—is pretty short. The sidequests obviously take hours and hours.

Nope, that's not really my point. The game is rather short even with sidequests and exploring. Like I said, I clocked in at just under 20 hours on my first playthrough with probably around 80-90% side stuff completed. Sure, you can certainly spend 50 hours on the game, but it's really no comparison to Fallout 3.

That’s… exactly what I said. It’s also exactly what I said that you said.

The core game is short. You can beat it relatively quickly. We are not in disagreement on this, nor did I misrepresent your point of view in my previous post.

Uhm ... no. I didn't say the core game was short. I said the whole game was short; at least in comparison to Fallout 3. It took me a little less than 30 hours to get a "perfect" game - there's no way I'd be able to do that in Fallout 3, not without some major cheating.

Fallout 3 has the misfortune of taking longer to traverse between plot-requisite areas than New Vegas. The Mojave Wasteland is supposedly the same size as the Capital Wasteland, but in practice, the Mojave Wasteland is much smaller. I think that’s where you’re getting the disparity in play time.

Maybe that’ll change with some DLC. I can imagine Arizona and New Reno DLC are in the works.

There's that, yeah. There's also less NPCs, less quests, a lot less dialogue and pretty small "dungeons". New Vegas might actually have more locations but most of them are generic and don't tie in with any quests or lore. It's go in, grab the standard book/mag/cap/generic loot and go on. Even the side quests are usually completed in a matter of minutes if you have the locations on your map. The irony is that while New Vegas is smaller I spend even more time travelling around.

Same here. I think the Mojave Wasteland is a better setting for exploration than the Capital Wasteland. Maybe it’s the wild west theme.

Note that it’s been updated today.

I’m only running the color filter removal and a 1.5x brightness mod for the Pip-Boy light. The FO3/New Vegas UI is broken well beyond what a font change can fix.

    Oh. Cool. Thanks.

True. But MTUI certainly makes a bad UI more playable. I can't imagine playing without it. Give it a shot. You'll love it. Install the ammo sorter on top and you can finally browse your inventory with at least some ease.

Note: I don't use or collect any of the caravan cards (as the game is broken anyway). Basically, this mod puts all your ammo together with the cards at the bottom of your inventory.

Kind of off topic, but for those into modding (game modding, not illegal console modding) Most PC mods for Fallout3, Fallout:NV, and Oblivion will work on the PS3. I was just reading on it and I think that is very cool.

I have it for PS3 as well.

Other than work, football, and girlfriend time I've been playing A LOT of New Vegas.

Vendigo you must be a badass at this game because I've put some good solid hours into it, am level 20, and haven't even done the quest to go to the legion base to kill Benny.

I don't know how many exact hours I've put into it but it's gotta be 20+. I do a lot of side quest/exploring but I still have a ton to do.

Also one thing I disagree with. It feels like there's more side quests in NV. When I was watching developers previews for the game they said that there was more side quests than in F3. I don't have the stats in front of me it just felt that way.

I'm not a badass. I've simply played the Fallout series a lot. And if you play it "properly" (as in: pick the good traits and perks), it's no challenge. If it takes you 50 hours, that's cool. I don't intend to brag. It's just that it is way, way too easy and short for me.

There might even be more quests (I doubt it, though), but none of them takes much time. Apart from the ghoul rocket quest, I've yet to find a side quest that takes longer than, say, 10 minutes.

IIRC, Fallout 3 has around 100 quests, including sidequests. New Vegas has 160 or so.

The problem is that Fallout 3’s area takes longer to traverse, and since you need to use the sewers or metro lines to get to some new areas, you can’t just fast travel to the nearest destination and walk 30 seconds to the objective like you can in New Vegas.

So, the equivalent of 5 playthroughs for you. :shifty:
