First of all I am happy with the direction this team is going and am confident in our ability to compete with ANY team in the NFL. With that said no team is perfect and all have holes to be filled, needs addressed and wants met.

So here is my dream list:

    1. Speed. This regime has succeeded adding big Parcillian type players but with that they have not addressed the need for speed. We need that ability to stretch the field, to keep the opposing defense on their heels. That would be met with a change of pace type of back (which we have none) and a true #2 speedster wr.

    2. TE. Although Fasano has done a nice job at holding down the fort we need another Tight End to compliment him. If Henning insists on running these 2-TE sets we need to have adequate talent to do it.

    3. Interior O-Line. We have our depth starting. We need to find the missing pieces to add to our two bookend tackles. John Jerry has shown promise but if he can't beat out McQuisten then........

    4. Aggressiveness. I want to see our coaching staff to become more aggressive. Instead of playing "not to lose", I want them to have that hunger and blood lust to attack the opposing defenses in the red zone. We need to go for it on more 4th and short when in the red zone. We need to put some fear in the opposing defense like we did last year with Lou "Money" Polite. This coaching staff seems to coach way to conservative and predictable. If it's not a sure thing or their chart doesn't say that they have a 75% chance of succeeding they don't take a chance.

    5. Return Man. Nolan Carrol has done OK but we need that explosive returner that strikes fear in the coverage units. Someone that can hit a hole and make them miss. Again this has to do with not having enough talented speed demons on the roster. And why do we have Patrick Cobbs returning any kind of kick. I'll tell you why, because it is a safe 20 yards.

    6. Dan Henning. CK gave his opinion that Dan Henning has been better than not (hope I quoted you right CK) and I tend to agree now that he has put the wildcat on the shelf BUT he tends to boggle my mind with the way he calls certain series'. Sometimes he is Wanndstatian in nature and other times he is Cam Cameron. I don't want to rehash the countless threads and posts on what Henning needs to do, I think we all get the point on that one.

I think I have to take someone's opinion like Dan Dierdorfs who did nothing but praise our entire Oline against the number one defense in the NFL the entire game over board expert/pundits, miserable people. Is Berger the best in the league ? no but for one reason or another, this Oline has performed fine. They are not responsible for not calling deep downfield plays or when Henne throws it 10 feet over the sideline or bounce passes someone now and then. Henne had enough time to knit a sweater most of the day against the number one defense in the NFL, I saw it and some guy thats in the Hall of Fame and made the Pro Bowl 6 times as an offensive lineman saw it. Dan Dierdorf gives kudos only when they are do and he spewed them out often and easily Sunday on our offensive line. Sparano got rid of the right people.

-Fix the running game, we have 6 running backs, 4 are mostly blocking backs, surely they can figure something out.

    -Fix the kick coverage unit.

On Pass Pro i agree 100% with Dan Dierdorf but on Run Blocking the interior line is a weakness especially with the type of downhill running backs that we have in our stable. I would say that adding to the interior line is more of a want than a need or a hole (no pun intended).

    1. Speed (#2 WR & COP back)
    2. A playmaker in the secondary to allow us to keep bringing Wake and various blitzes w/o getting burned for big plays (someone talented to play the slot, or a shutdown boundary guy to let Vontae move to slot).
    3. Quality depth at NT so Starks never has to move inside (6'5 340 Kendrick Ellis from Hampton). Our Dline is our strength and needs an insurance policy to keep it that way..... especially since we like to keep our guys fresh with much rotation. Odrick-Soliai-Starks. Langford-Ellis-McDaniel..... and Merling coming in on passing downs.
    4. Oline Depth.
    5. TE help. (I'd put TE higher but we don't seem to emphasize using one, and IMO a #2 WR will get more use than a TE as well as open up the offense better)

Adding depth at the NT position is definitely a need and i overlooked that. Speaks well of the job Soliai and Starks have been doing there but we do need to get another piece there.

I agree with the RB, TE, NT and new OC if Henning doesn't get this team scoring. I think we need to give Sean Smith more time/another shot.

I have been advocating #1, 2, and 4 for a minute now. A spedy RB, scat back, and WR would do wonders for this team. That's why I was hoping we would draft a Spiller. It's someone who would have to be counted for on all downs. Our RB's can swing out without any LB thinking I better get there now. They can play it safe and wait to see if Henne throws them the ball. If he does, then they break that way. Speed would kill them.

Our " down hill " RBs can be replaced by some really good draft picks. How much longer you think Ricky is going to be able to run ? I will give him this year. As far as Ronnie Brown ? Where, where is the downhill good RB ? By the time Ronnie Brown decides which way to run, the defense can go to lunch and have a beer and come back.

There were plenty of running lanes open Sunday, especially on the Left side, Both Ronnie and Ricky chose not to take them. The holes were there and BIG.

It's easy to overlook it b/c they do such a great job!...... but that's all the more reason to make sure there's an insurance policy in place. Even with McDaniel out, our Dline struggled a bit vs GB. IMO one of the most important aspects of a winning team is making sure your strengths stay your strengths OR that you develop and maximize your potential strengths before moving to your weaknesses.

Once we locked up Dansby I wanted C.J. Spiller so bad. He would have been that big play threat we are missing. Look at the troubles the Saints are having without Bush. It really makes a difference having that type of player.

Fasano was a 2nd round pick. There's a real possibility that maybe 1 TE this draft turns out to be a better pro than Anthony..... and I don't think Rudolph will be leaps and bounds ahead of him to warrant using a 1st round pick for the upgrade.

As far as I know there are very few explosive playmaking TE's this draft class..... but CK can better answer that, so I'll defer to him. Last draft was the one for grabbing a TE.

is brian hartline still the fastest reciever we have?doesn't matter how fast he runs if all we do is send him on curls and outs or sends him downfield as a decoy.

    totally agree with #2

i don't have alot to say about the o-line than i thought jj was doing great for a rookie,vc is maybe someone we want to replace next yr and possibly berger who has been pretty good at times and wishy-washy at others

totally agree with 4..it seems once we pass the 40 we are playing to kick a field goal

yes we could use a better return man but we also need better blocking and the only reason cobbs returned that kick was carroll injured his ankle.

I like Kendall Hunter from Ok State.... and I know Boomer thinks highly of him as well. He's one of the few playmaking RBs that I can think of who might be around during our 3rd round pick. He doesn't have the greatest long speed but he's fairly explosive through the first 20 yards and IMO has the kind of vision, balance, and feet we need to squirt through the holes that our Oline provides.

This also isn't the greatest draft for WRs who can blow past DBs..... but it's a great year for DTs and pass rushers (the 2 positions we drafted last year)...... and last year was a great year for offensive playmakers. I think we drafted backwards.

I like him too but he is not the speedy deep threat we need to stretch the field. He is more of a Marty Booker type possession receiver. Nothing spectacular but nice to have in the arsenal.

agreed on your list, but still don't think we are where we need to be with the LB corps ... Wake is a bonified pass rusher and Dansby is a player .... Misi is 'ok' and a rookie, and Crowder is what he is ....

we get Edds back next year which should help greatly on passing downs, maybe more if he gets stronger with all this time off ... but we still need a replacement / understudy for Crowder ... Spitler isn't that guy ...

i believe Carroll much like Clemons will become a starter next year kicking Smith / Allen to the nickel and Sapp to the curb

so on 'D', we need a NT, LB and DB to go along with the 'O' at WR, T, TE, RB with the priority going to:

WR - speed burner ... although Wallace will work his way into the line-up, maybe by the end of the year due to his size
T - we need a solid prospect, maybe starter to move Carey (there are many here who really like Vernon, but if i could get a 2+ rd pick for him - i'd think about moving him) ... it's really disappointing with Gardner (cut) and Murtha's development
RB - need a playmaker in the backfield .... Ronnie just isn't going to be that guy
NT - as indicated, we need another real NT to spell Soliai .... i'm pretty sure we'll take a couple fliers again this year, just like last year
LB - we can use both ILB/OLBs ... see where Misi stands at the end of the season and to build the bench, not sure what we have in Johnson
TE - could use an upgrade, especially a pass catching threat in 2 TE sets -- how many TEs have we gone through in the last 2 years ?? probably 2d only to Gs
DB - can never have enough DBs or LBs in the system .... Amaya and Wallace look like keepers

we'll get Garner back next year .... and that will improve depth along the OL ... or he could win the job opposite Jerry next year ..... leaving C and backup T as needs along the line

we are good for a few years at DE .....

bottom line is next year the premium is on playmakers on 'O' ... at WR and RB ...

we should have kept grice mullen - i know he didnt have a real good camp but he was battling hamstring probs. much rather have him returning K.O.s and he would have been the fastest WR

    1. Offensive Playmakers.

I would prefer them at TE or third down back, but the point is that our offense doesn't have enough of them.

    2. Defensive Playmaker.

We have some but I'd love to have one at FS. Clemons has been solid, but I'd like to have one that came down with INTs. Allen can be a play maker, but he's also inconsistent and VD can be avoided b/c he's a CB. That's the problem with CBs in general. You basically need two or three really good CBs to get the impact that one really good FS can provide.
