Heh. Desides and the other dude can defend the Miami Heat flag with their life.

Props to Desides. I never, how can I say it, "seen" a Heat fan like Desides.

My Wolves lost their opener, really good game though. A lot of young talent on the Wolves has me excited.

Can a Heat fan tell me why they parted with Michael Beasley? Was it to save money? Dude has serious talent.

No one is bragging about anything. I was simply laughing at how your original post was asinine.

Couldn't the same be said about any team in league history that lost a game decided by fewer than 15 points? Hell, the Celtics would be the defending champions had they scored a few more buckets in Game 7 last June.

    Unbelievable.

The words 'no one can compete with Portland' in any context need to halt immediately.

It's fine you and others think the Spurs are done. If they're done, they're done. 'We' had a great run. Aside from the Lakers, the Spurs have been the model franchise since 1999

So with all that crap you talked...you basically pick them to be the #1 seed and have home court throughout the playoffs.

    just lol.

Again....that "two shots" thing....Desides is right. Look at the +/- numbers. The Celtics played great in 7 of 8 rotation spots, Wade was terrible, and the Heat played as bad as they could and they still were within 3 with a minute to go.

In other words...if Wade just plays bad and not putrid as he did...the Heat beat the Celtics on a night when 7 of 8 Celt's were in + territory. THINK ABOUT that for a minute. just a minute.

and I didn't even mention that Bosh was terrible as well. SO the same goes for Bosh.

To clear cap space and use a part of his contract to resign Haslem and pick up Mike Miller.

So we basically traded Beasley for Mike Miller and a couple of picks.

Not a fair trade IMO (I am a beasley fan), But Mike Miller fits our team better with the big 3 than Beasley would have.

Woooo! Cavs win! Even without Mo Williams. And are ahead of Miami in the standings. By the transitive property, Celtics beat Heat, Cavs beat Celtics, therefore, Cavs > Heat!

Kidding of course, but y'all already stole LeBron - let us have this moment, ok?

Cavs are in a weird spot - as much as Yahoo! wants to say we are going to win 12 games, we have enough talent to be mildly decent - which is probably the worst thing for the team. We either need to be good enough to warrant using the trade exception on a superstar, or bad enough to tank and get a top pick. Winning 25-30 games is worst case scenerio.

Either way - awesome to beat the Celtics last night. JJ Hickson looks to be a really solid player. Ramon Sessions and Boobie Gibson looked good as role players and Varejao looked to be in form. Going to be an up and down year but fun way to start.

They are still very good defensively. I don;t think hey make the playoffs...but I fear that you are right...they are a 25 to 30 win team. Which is the worst case scenario. There is a certain monster coming out for that #1 pick this year.......

Most Heat fans discounted the whole regular season win record at least for this season. And that was before Wade was injured all preseason. I didn't even have them as favorites against Boston in the first game. I saw that game as a toss up. That game was between a very talented team that had played together for years and a more talented team that had not played together at all.

I expected, and still expect, some surprising losses during the first 30 - 40 games of the season. They'll still have a very good record b/c they'll simply out-match most teams, but they'll need to develop chemistry to beat the top teams. I expect that chemistry to be hit and miss more often early on. I do think the team could challenge the regular season record but that won't be until they have at least a season together under their belt, maybe two. The key, other than health, will be how long it takes LBJ to adapt to the PG role. IMO it takes rooks a season or two to develop as well-rounded PGs. But LBJ is not a rook and he has a high basketball I.Q. so it may take less time.

Is LeBron still playing the PG role? I have only watched a few minutes of the Heat and checked the stat lines. Wade seems to be coming away with more assists. All the reports I've heard have LeBron bringing the ball down just to run LeIso where he pounds the ball into the court for 20 seconds then launches a long two.

Is he really playing point guard or just bringing the ball down and setting himself up for a shot? Is Wade playing the role of distributer?

And I still stand by that. People pinned Michael Jordan-like hope on LeBron when he came out of high school. It was never going to work. Thus, it was a LeFraud.

I’m going to have to come up with a similar nickname for Kevin Durant, because now that ESPN has broken up with LeBron, they’re starting to hype Durant in the same manner.

There was no asininity to be found.

Congratulations, you have missed the point!

Can you show me where ESPN broke up with LeBron? In fact, other than Bill Simmons can you show one negative article on ESPN about LeBron? The national media has been killing him - but ESPN is like his pet.

It’s more like you sidestepped it because you’d rather be “that guy”. Were you the one who started the overrated chant in the crowd?

The point is that the Heat lost because of marginal execution, not elite effort by the Celtics. The Heat shot 30% and still had a chance to win that game. That 30% shooting was not because of the Celtics defense: the Heat had wide-open shots all night but couldn’t sink them.

Thus, if the Heat make just three of those wide open shots, they win the game. The loss was on their lack of execution, not anything on the part of Boston. They played at or near their best and still would have lost if not for the Heat playing poorly.

The Celtics got the W, but just like Steelers-Dolphins, it’s questionable as to whether or not the winning team was actually the better team.

Arroyo has been starting the game at PG. In the fourth quarter of both games so far, LBJ has been the guy who brought the ball up. They have been running high picks to get him into the lane where he has been acting primarily as a distributer. The decisions he's made with the ball, IMO, have been questionable, but its clear he is taking on the Magic role. In fact, Collins talked about that extensively after watching LBJ do just that against his Sixers. My guess is that Riley and the big three envision LBJ as Magic, Wade as the primary scorer as the shooting G and and Bosh as the post threat.

I think you need to refresh your memory by going back and watching the reaction on ESPN immediately after The Decision as well as the days following.

Pay careful attention to Jon Barry, Michael Wilbon, and pretty much every snide and snarky comment made by any host on the channel at any time of the day.

We know for a fact that Riley’s pitch to LeBron in that free agency meeting was exactly that, casting LeBron as Magic. LeBron said that’s what got his attention and led him to begin seriously considering the Heat.

And you should pay attention to every article written since the decision. They are almost all positive and defending LeBron. To say ESPN has a bias against LeBron is crazy. He is their golden calf.

In what universe? ESPN has shifted their “best playah evah” focus to Kevin Durant. They still don’t condone LeBron in Miami, but I will grant that they aren’t as transparently hostile as they were immediately after The Decision.

I get the feeling that you think ESPN has been giving LeBron a break just because they don’t openly dislike him the way you do. :shifty:

And I believed it when I heard it this summer b/c it made sense to me on many levels. There were many who doubted this even though I thought Riley's strategy was common knowledge. Now that we're seeing it on the court, those doubters were proven wrong. This is much like the reason that I started this thread. There were those that claimed the NBA would be hurt by superstars teaming up. The early empirical evidence is that those claims were wrong as well. Its still early of course, but so far, superstars teaming up has been a boon to the NBA.

    Forget the articles.

    WATCH ESPN.

They are still on the air...you know?

it is a parade of Hate on there.

Especially that First take show. They just trot out every hater they can find each day to rip on Lebron and the team.

Skip Bayless calls him "Prince James" exclusively. The host of the show is a Cavs fan and openly admits he hates Lebron.

yeah.....like you said...."facts" have no bearing in this....

You guys are worried about ESPN.com articles that nobody reads and completely ignores the on air talent.

I am sure it goes both ways - the host of First Take and Skip Bayless aren't exactly their biggest names or the ones with the most airtime. Stuart Scott loves him and most of their NBA personalities blow him on a regular basis (Adande, Broussard).

While realizing I was speaking in hyperbole about ESPN's love for Bron - you can't make the argument that the network as a whole is negative towards he or the Heat. That is ridiculous. They fawn over them.

    They fawn over them?

They have 9 on air analysts.

They HAVE ONE guy that picked them to win it all and they have 3 that pick them to make the finals.

The heat is a 7-5 favorite with those that really count ($$$$$$). Think about that one for a little bit.

    Yeah...."fawning". LOL

again...you can add the chick from Sportsnation as another open Heat hater. She just admits it. Where have you ever seen on air talent on ESPN openly HATE a pro sports team? if you have ...name them.
