    Very nice game Gints fans.

I honestly had no idea the guys on your roster. Very very surprised it took them till the last day to win that division.

Lincecum was everything I remembered. They kept talking about what a "Cool customer" Cliff Lee is, will Lincecum equal him in that regards IMO

The Gints did what not many teams have done this season, and that chase Lee early. Thats by far the earliest I've seen him leave a game

This is gonna be a very good Series

A somewhat fun/entertaining yet extremely sloppy Game 1. Certainly not one for the highlight reel. Surprised at how poorly both Lincecum and Lee pitched. Hopefully both teams got all the butterflies out of their system and will play a better game tonight. I'm happy seeing former Sox Freddy Sanchez have a big night though.

The Game 1 WS ratings are in so if you care about it (and really unless you work for FOX, MLB or one of the 30 MLB teams it shouldn't matter unless of course you want to put down one of the team's fans). It drew a 4.7 or 15.7 million people but is down 25% from last year's Yankee/Phillies WS Game 1. But is in line with the Rays/Phillies Game 1 from 2008 which had a 4.8.

The Giants played an excellent game last night. What are you talking about? You are such a hater. What does it matter that the Yankees got better ratings last year? Why should anyone care about that? You are like an annoying little fly that never goes away.

Where in that post did he say anything about ratings? And if they played excellent, Lincecum wouldn't have given up 4 runs in just 5.2 innings.

EDIT: NVM about the ratings comment, I saw the post above yours.

    Ratings?
    Who cares!!
First time I've enjoyed a WS matchup in a long long time.
And of course, that's all that really matters!!!

Question is it hard to type with those homer glasses on? The Giants played an excellent game last night? They gave up 7 freaking runs, made 2 errors in the field (not even counting Lincecum's brain fart in the 1st chasing Michael Young back to 3rd base and never throwing the ball to try to make an out) or Freddy Sanchez getting doubled off 2nd base in the 1st inning on a fly out to RF. That was sloppy game last night of course Texas added to it with 4 errors and numerous mental errors as well (Kinsler deciding to make the wrong turn at 1st base on an infield single and getting tagged out). I'm not being a hater, the truth hurts. That was a bad game from a playing persective, I stated it was fun/entertaining game.

It's funny that you call me a hater when I've been on record numerous places saying I don't care who wins and in my post above said nice things about Freddy Sanchez. But it's clear you didn't take the time to actually read what I wrote.

Futher more if you actually read what I wrote above about the ratings I said they don't matter. I simply posted them because earlier in the thread people were talking about them. The reason why I included Game 1 of the 2009 and 2008 WS was again because it was discussed earlier in the thread.

You seriously need to grow some thicker skin. Every little thing someone says about the Giants you fly off the handle. Instead of complaining all the time about how they don't get enough respect or people are haters because they don't pick them to win, why don't you just sit back and enjoy the Giants success so far?

If people actually read what I posted they'd know I said the ratings don't mean anything to the fans nor should they. Oh well.

Huge Giants fan since Will the Thrill, One handed catchin Kevin Mitchell, Candy Maldanado, I can go on and on, but I'll bore you. Eff you Dusty Baker for pulling Russ Ortiz with 6 outs left, and that's all for now. Still a lot of baseball left.

Not looking good at all for the Rangers... Will be a TOTALLY different atmosphere in Texas, but the Gints are looking now like the Rangers have for the last 2 weeks. Hottest team will always win.

For ANYBODY saying the Phillies were a better team? I dont think so. That Gints team is a VERY good team. Solid all across the lineup. Very solid pitching.

Damn, I've never seen an audience groan sooooooo much for every single pitch to be called a Strike. There were pitches 12" outside and they were pissed

There was never any doubt it would be Cliff Lee in game 4 regardless of if the Rangers are 0-3 or 3-0

The Giant crowd/fans have been great all post season minus the gimmick towels but that's just a little pet peeve of mine, I don't want to be coming off like a hater or anything. The Rangers certainly look dead but that's what happens when you get good pitching as Matt Cain was very good last night.

Game 3 is a must win for Texas for obvious reasons. Things are looking very good for the Giants. Like JDang said keep Dusty Baker and I'll add Darren Baker the hell away. Haha.

Considering Lee has never pitched on short rest in his career and was against it last year I'd be surprised if he pitched Game 4 even with his team down 3-0.

Anyone hear the reason why Jose Guillen was left off the Giants post season roster (well besides that he's not very good)? The FBI is investigating him for HGH.

[ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5739358"]Report: San Francisco Giants' Jose Guillen part of federal investigation into HGH shipments - ESPN[/ame]

EDIT: Not sure why there's a video in the link.

I don't think he would have if the rangers were up 2-1. But I do think he will now. He's no sure thing though. As the giants said, its not that he pitched badly its just that they're used to seeing great pitchers in the playoffs

His stuff was way off from the start in Game 1. Everything was flat and he had no command. Maybe it was the 8 day lay off. I agree if it's 3-0, you have to almost be forced to pitch him unless he's hurting. You don't want to lose the WS because you started Tommy Hunter.

For those of you keeping score at home:

    Haves - 2
    Have-nots - 0

I'm surprised at how many runs the Giants are scoring with that lineup. I guess I shouldn't be though, with the postseason being a crapshoot and all.

Cliff Lee will pitch game 4 NO MATTER WHAT!
    Its a no brainer.

His command wasn't off in game 1, but his Curve was Waaaaaaayyyyyy off.
Credit to the Giants, they ran him very long in the count a couple of times. It escapes me who right now, but a couple of guys had like 12 and 13 pitch at bats.
I think the Rangers win 2 of the next three at home. They will have the extra bat in the lineup, and the Texas crowd will prove to be every bit as loud as the Gints crowd was...they haved nothing else to cheer about right now cause the Cowgirls sure suck.

What are they supposed to say? Give me a break. I'm sure it had nothing to do with Cliff Lee's command.

There's enough reasonable baseball fans in this thread to call a spade a spade -- the Giants lineup sucks. There's a reason they ranked in the lower half in all of baseball in OPS and runs scored this season.

So you're saying his command wasn't off but his curve was? Same thing no? He was all over the strike zone and even he and Molina admitted he had no control on his pitches.

Yet they are without ANY doubr, the absolute best team in baseball when it matters most.
Compare what these guys are doing to the Rays and $kan$ against the Rangers.
Regardless of what all the "Thread experts" say, they have the best lineup in baseball right now bar none.

Considering only Buster Posey would crack the 3rd place team in the AL East when everyone is healthy I'm going to have to extremely disagree with you there. The Giants are not the best team in the playoffs but that doesn't matter because they're winning. The best teams in the post season don't always win. That's why the Phillies, Rays and Yankees are sitting home right now. Again that's not meant to take away anything from either the Giants or Rangers but if either of those teams played a 162 game schedule against any of those 3 teams the results wouldn't be favorable to them.

Look at the Giants offensive numbers compared to the Phillies this year. Tell me how they're better. Yes the Giants beat the Phillies in the playoffs but that's because it's a short series and it's a crap shoot.

Up till his last inning, he was still over throwing 80% first pitch strikes.
Maybe he wasn't able to pinpoint his pitches, like he usually does, but I've seen his command much worse than it was in game 1.
He doesn't usually throw his curve much. Its far from his strong point.

Take off your pathetic homer glasses please!!!!
The best two teams in baseball are playing right now, that's why they play series instead of one and done.
The Rangers spanks the $kan$ and the Rays, the Gints spanked Philthadelphia, and now the Gints are spanking the Rangers.
The pecking order is pretty damn clear.

    Remember, excuses are like ***holes.....

Scoreboard throws excuses directly out the window.

Obviously. Does anyone think the 2006 Cardinals were the best team that year? There's usually 1 or 2 teams that get hot at the right time and make it to the WS. It happens every year. There are always upsets. There's a reason why you rarely see the AL team with the best record against the NL team with the best record.

What exactly is your point? Considering that a 7-game series is the mother-of-all small sample sizes (i.e. crapshoot), let's make the comparison over a 162-game season, shall we?

    Name these teams:

    Team A:
    OPS - .736
    Runs scored - 802

    Team B:
    OPS - .757
    Runs scored - 787

    Team C:
    OPS - .729
    Runs scored - 697

    Team D:
    OPS - .745
    Runs scored - 772

    Team E:
    OPS - .786
    Runs scored - 859

That pecking order is pretty damn clear indeed. Are you really arguing that the postseason is anything but a crapshoot?

You're completely missing my point but that's ok. And no it has nothing to do with being a homer, but if you can seriously give me one Giant player that could crack the starting line up over any of the Red Sox regulars (besides Posey) please free to correct me.

Also you do realize that if the Rangers played in the AL East they wouldn't have even made the playoffs right?

There's a reason why they play 162 games in the season. It's a large simple size. The playoffs are a small sample size. You could throw the worst team in baseball against the best team and have them play over 100 5 or 7 game series and I'd bet you that the worst team would win a few of them.

Again this is taking NOTHING away from the Giants or the Rangers. Being the best team in the game and winning the WS are two different things. The best team doesn't always win. Bottom line is after the year is over no one remembers the best team but everyone remembers the WS champion.

    Stats don't mean jack****

Is Jose Bautista the best hitter in baseball? The stats say its not even close.
Is Adam Wainright the 3rd best pitcher in the Majors?
    The stats say he is.
I only give a rats *** about one simple stat, and that is who has the most wins when you put two teams head to head in a series. That is about all that really matters.
