for debugging on the the pc, you can open up "the console" by pressing the "`" key (under the escape key).

after that, you type in a command to fix the bug. it worked for me two times: when elder mcnamara was stuck, and when melissa wouldn't appear.

So if I didn't go with the Brotherhood on that quest I'm SOL on power armor?

Looks like it, unless a patch retroactively fixes it for you.

    i just beat it also

killing house was almost too easy. i just walked right in and shot him. maybe it's because i was already doing missions for him. idk.

after that, i did the battle of hoover dam and pretty much just owned everybody with my power armor and gauss rifle. i speech checked my way though the legion guy and the ncr guy, and then had yes man throw him off the cliff.

i might replay it again and side with the ncr, or try hardcore. it sucks that there wont be dlc for pc.

i spent 42 hours playing the game (level 26).

The 360-exclusive DLC is a kick in the crotch, absolutely. I can’t believe publishers still agree to do that. But if Episodes from Liberty City is any sort of indication, the DLC will eventually be available on PS3 and PC.

Take the armor off. They think you’re someone else.

I know that, lol. It's just s pain to take it on, off everytime I'm around them. Plus I can't travel directly in their camps with it on.

    It’s not THAT bad.

I mean, you can just run around in your underwear when you get to the camps. They don’t think poorly of you for that. Strangely.

After having to restart the game twice, finally beat this thing. And the ending style was just as crappy as Fallout 3’s.

The real weakness of the PCRPG genre is the inability to tie all the various decisions you’re allowed to make during the game into a more satisfying conclusion. I might replay just to see what Mr. House’s ending is like, but now that I’ve gone through once, I really don’t feel like going back and making different decisions. There just isn’t much of a reward.

Did the game crash? Just wondering, because I thought the Ps3's power would help it out. I know my game froze twice while I was fighting.

I checked out House's ending on youtube. Not any more impressive or interesting.

Loving the game but this game pales in comparison to mass effect or dragon age for PC RPGs...imo.

My first restart came after a couple of hours, I forget why I did it.

The second time was because the first patch came out and screwed up my saves.

My game froze for the first time last night. I was doing a quest for the Caravan guys. Cass is in my party. I am really digging NV. The pop-in is absolutely horrid. I can't believe how unpolished this game is.... But it's got that Fallout feel that I can't get enough of. I expect to grind it to death again tonight.

Main mission is short. The sidequests make this around a 40-50 hour game. Unless you're an expert in all things fallout. Ven said he could do it in 20. My first playthrough was 42 hours.

Quick question. So I told Boone we had to part ways, so he left to go back to Novac. I can recruit him again later right? Also he still is holding all my heavy weapons. Will he still have those when I go back for him later?

So I'm pretty far now (level 19) and I remember hearing you guys and other places talk about the bugginess of this game. I had zero issues until I reached the Vegas area. Now I get freezes in Freeside and random bugs. It's gotten so bad I save in almost every area which is annoying.

The bugs really show up in later missions. For example, completing the “storyline” of Vault 11 will result in you failing a House quest even though the Vault has nothing to do with it.

I’ve put over 120 hours into New Vegas and it gets better. Helps that I’ve modded the hell out of my game. Fan-made patches to fix bugs? Check. Barrett M82? Check. (Deathclaws are nothin’ now.) Starcraft Ghost armor? Check.

Some of this feels like cheating, especially the M82 and some of the benefits of the Ghost armor. But I’ve beaten the game four times now. I get a little bit of leeway.

I've been slowly working my way into this one (I'm playing on the 360). Building my character with a small arms / energy pistols focus as well as science - I plan on taking both the Nerd Rage and Math Wrath perks. I just got into the Strip for the first time earlier this afternoon. I haven't decided how to align, but I'm leaning towards trying to be Independent, though I wonder if there's a "right" faction to choose.

Have to say I'm loving this game. It feels a little bit scaled back when compared to Fallout 3, which isn't a bad thing, at least for me. I put quite a bit of time into Fallout 3 but could never end up finishing it. With this game I feel like I should be able to finish it. I'm also finding the characters and style of the game superior to Fallout 3 - I just like the look of New Vegas. My wife complains because the game is paced slowly (walking from town to town takes a LOT of time), but other than that I've really been enjoying it.

i ended up beating the game for myself, house, caesar, and ncr (after reloading saved games), and to be honest, i liked them all for different reasons. whatever path you choose, it should be pretty fun.

i also beat the game on hardcore, but the "reward" for that was an achievement. not worth it imo.

Really? I'm now at 45 hours, level 20 and still not decided which path to take as I have all options left to me at this point. I've not even been across the river to the Legion side yet.

Maybe I spend too long searching every house, room, drawer, metal box etc that I come across.

I'm now a level 22. Havn't beaten it yet, but here's what's going on in my game:
I just killed Mr. House and put Yes Man in his network. I can now take over Vegas. I also just met with the Brotherhood of Steel. I think I'm going to do their quest line and see what happens

The mods really extend New Vegas’ life. A new set of Hei Gui Stealth Armor, custom bounty hunting missions, things like that.

I really can’t wait for the first DLC pack. Well, the second DLC pack. The first is 360-exclusive. (Why do companies do this? Yes, yes, Microsoft pays them, I know.)

so my question is, since I'll likely end up buying this for 360, is there any sort of standard 'grace period' so to speak before a company may put out some patches to fix bugs for the 360 platform? I have a few other games I need to play so I figure I can wait a bit to get this, is there any chance that they'll smooth out some of the glitches in the near future for the 360 version, or is just going to be 'as is' forever?

  36. Springveldt

I'm now at 57 hours of gameplay and I've only came across 2 "show stopping" bugs. 1 was my screen just froze up, music still playing in the background etc. 2nd was when I was using a sniper rifle and whenever I tried to zoom in the image changed to a terminal image (like I was hacking a computer) for some reason! Both times I just turned off/back on and everything was fine. Luckily I save my game all the time so I only lost 10 minutes worth, if that.

Still haven't took any of the storyline paths yet, still not been across the river to see the Legion. I'm now lvl 24 (just about to go to 25) and I've still got side missions I want to do before continuing with the story. (Finish the Boomer quests, HeliosOne quest and a few in the Jacobstown region).

I was at like 38 hours in and at level 28. I decided to just finish the game, since the level cap was 30. Lots of stuff left to do on the side, but I didn't feel like exploring more as it didn't seem to be much incentive. So I beat it this morning. A bit underwhelmed by the ending, but the game was a lot of fun for a long time.

I had it freeze on me near the end during what I would call the final sequence. But that's about the only bug/glitch I came across. There was some real slowdown at times though, and load times even with it installed seemed to take a while.

They’ve already put out 2 patches. The problem is that the game is so buggy that 2 patches aren’t enough.

Honestly, the PC version is the best simply because there are already a bunch of bugfixes in the form of mods, like this compilation patch. And then there are add-ons and improvements, like Nevada Skies and backpacks that add to carry weight.
